  1. Watched Santa board the Zaandam yesterday afternoon!!! He was on the last tender from Castro, Isla Chiloé, Chile. He had several elves with him but the reindeer stayed on the island for a rest. Apparently they had, had a very long day and were facing another long journey back to the North Pole.

  2. I can't shed light on November '99 specifically but these were our Rotterdam cruises around that time which might help with the 'patterns' :-

On the Volendam (maybe last year or 2012), I remember a designated point being set up for donated items prior to arriving at Fanning Island. Many people brought school related materials for the children as well as clothing. I recall seeing little ones on the island clutching pencils, exercise books and tubes of toothpaste with great pride.

I knew about it in advance of the cruise through the roll call.

  4. I did not realize that people in other countries had different "HAL web sites" but I suppose it makes sense.

Here is the window that comes up when I click the brochure on the U.S. site -- it might be worth trying to see if it leads you to the brochure: http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/hal/cruiseatlas1516/

If you get the page open, among the icons along the top is one that looks like an arrow pointing downward into an in box. If you click that, you can download the interactive, or go to the bottom of the page and click on the line that says "click here to download the .pdf version ... " The .pdf file is 55MB.

Thank you very much for the link - very thoughtful of you.

  5. We booked PK Travel to collect my husband and I at the cruise terminal, provide a private 2 hour tour of Athens and deliver us to the airport.

I can only say that we were absolutely delighted with the service provided and amazed at the amount we saw in a relatively short time. Our driver, Dimitris tailored everything to our needs and preferences. He was already there to meet us when we disembarked our ship and the Mercedes van was first class, plenty of space for all our luggage and extremely comfortable. He was an excellent driver and exceptionally knowledgeable of the area, filling us with amazing facts both modern day and historical. On top of this he had the most charming personality which was both engaging and friendly. A really lovely chap.

We would certainly use their services again without hesitation and heartily recommend them.
