  1. I had asked a question about the choice between this and another ship on another thread. Someone said the Kids club for kids under 5 is terrible and all they do is read books and watch movies, no crafts or other kinds of play.

Does anyone have an first hand experience with the kids camp club on the NCL Gem, and what are your thoughts. I have a daughter who will be almost 4 if we go in May on the Gem.

I don't want her to be totally bored.

  2. Wow, thanks guys. It's about coordinating the dates and times with hubby's schedule. The Splendor March 25th was abt 1600 when I looked last month, but hubby couldn't get off a few of the days... so that has passed. He can't get April 2 either. So I saw kids sail free on NCL and looked at the Gem. For May it's about 1550 for three of us on Gem on the 10th. I was so gung ho for Splendor and all, but to sail in May is 2400.00. I am already having a hard time convincing him to go on a cruise at all so price is a factor.

Sigh, and Splendor is leaving NY in the Fall. Maybe coming back next spring. Oh well.

  3. Hi,

I was planning on going on another ship line, but this seems to be a better date and price right now.

I have read on other lines there is a spa raffle and tour on the first day and you can win treatments or a spa card.

Also during some of the other demos, there are raffles and such.

Are there any such things on this ship?

I read through some of the Dailies, but the first day was missing and didn't see any spa raffles.

    Let me know.

    Thanks so much.

  4. "Lemme tell you something....If that wasn't the best damn omelet I ever tasted. I mean...this omelet...It was like....Jesus..had personally cracked each egg, and folded over every ingredient ever so heavenly...and didn't even bother putting it on a plate...He just let me eat it out of his holy hands..."

I pissed my pants at this one. OMG. You should forget accounting and become a travel writer.

You looked like an African American Elvis in your Caution Pants and those glasses! (Is that bad to say LOLOLOLOL)

Best CC review I have read thus far.

Did the Disney ship play their horns for you guys? If you haven't heard them, go on youtube and look up horn battles.

  5. Which is your favorite and I think we can email and request seating before cruise. Am I correct? Let me know your fav. I have read that Gold Pearl, being all the way Aft, has 3 walls of windows while Black has only one on each side. Also, Gold Pearl is a little more pitchy or there is more motion back there.

Your thoughts.... also anyone have the email of the maitre d'. I had it, but my other computer crapped out and is being sent for repairs, so I can't find it, and the search option on here is not working.

    THANKS

  6. We also received this letter and it is legit, we checked it out last night. Unfortunately DH can't take off from work so maybe I will consider going with someone else. The offer is just too good to pass up. We are not gamblers either, yet we received the letter.

I'll go with you! Can I bring my 3 year old. How much is it in total? JK my husband would kill me if I went without him. But how much would it be? Just out of curiosity.

  7. I'm currently in therapy because' date=' after eating a green M&M, I didn't hit a home run.[/quote']

I thought green M&M's did something else.

Anyway, Carnival should put a disclaimer at the bottom of commercial... something like, "Please do not try this on your actual Carnival Cruise. It is dangerous and not allowed." and then instead of the one loud horn at the end, make it three.

  8. "4. Most importantly, as soon as some of the "ghouls" onboard get an inkling that there might be a death or medical debark, they immediately run to the reception desk to try to get their hands on a free upgrade. I have had cruises where there were dozens of passengers at the reception desk within minutes of announcing a death onboard. They all wanted that cabin - even before the body was cool."

    That is horrible!

  9. I would do it in a heartbeat.

I miss doing things solo since I had a child and got married. Never thought I would but I do.

I often go on 2 or 3 day retreats, but if the opportunity for a solo cruise came up, I would do it.

Health concerns.....get a quickie checkup fro doc, and smile.

  10. I had to love that new commercial Carnival is running. It has four lovely young children, having just met at the beginning of the cruise, bonding with a slide down the sliding board linked together. It looked so fun, that my son if we could do that next time we travel with his cousins.

"No," I had to confess. "They only allow one person down at a time. Liability issues."

It is a great commercial, but just wrong. I have to wonder if any folks from the c-wing in Carnival's Miami office have ever traveled with them.

    False advertising!
