  1. Yea....It gives the unruly rug rats two more hot tubs to take over. And if you sail on a ship whose Serenity area has no hot tubs, then there are zero areas for adults to avoid the kids. From what I have been told, even Disney has an adult's only pool.

Disney Magic does have a very nice adults area only with has a pool, hot tubs, loungers and a bar. Kids are even discouraged from even walking through this area!

It was a bit shocking when we booked our first on Carnival (Breeze) and they did not have one. Vista doesn't either, as well as they don't have nearly enough hot tubs! At least on Breeze there were times when we actually had one of the hot tubs to ourselves! We spent plenty of time in there!

We are cruising RCI this October, and I am very curious to see and enjoy the solarium!

  2. We went tubing in November with Chris from chrisjamaicatours.com. We have used him twice now. Love him!!

The river we tubed was super calm! A very relaxing way to start the day!

I had saw several pictures of people tubing with helmets on, and I was a bit skeptical myself as to if that was something I wanted to do... but, it ended up being so relaxing, and ended way to soon!! :-)

  3. We have used Chris from chrisjamaicatours.com twice now. He is awesome! He will take you to Dunns , as well as anywhere else you want to go. We went river tubing, then Dunns, then shopping, and then to Scotchies for an authentic jerk lunch. All with plenty of time to get back to the ship. Chris knows exactly how to beat the crowds.

The first time, we ported in Montego Bay, which is 2 hrs from Ocho Rios. That time he charged us $220 for the day. That does not include entry to any attractions. Last time we were in Ocho Rios, he only charged us much less. If I recall correctly- $120 for the day. There were four of us. Falmouth is about half way between the two, so maybe cost would be about half way, too....

You would have an amazing time with Chris!

  4. I contacted Chris Linton about an excursion from Falmouth to Dunns River Falls and possibly a couple other stops. Would you recommend Chris and does he give a tour or just drive you? He didn't provide much information other than a suggestion and price. He is charging $150 for transportation for up to 4 people and everything else is extra (admissions

I highly recommend Chris! We have a blast every time we are with him! We still keep in touch with him, even after our visits. He is a great guy! He will treat you right and make sure that you are taken care of. He is essentially just the driver, but he will make sure that you are all set up with the best tour guides at your stops.(he knows them all!) He will also stay with your belongings in the van at each stop as well. We felt very safe when we were with him. If there is something special you would like to do, just tell him and he will make it happen!

we have been to The Blue Hole, river tubing, Dunns River Falls, shopping and Scotchies with Chris. Both times have been just amazing.

I know up front the $150 sounds like a lot, but when you figure that is for the entire day, and add your extra admissions, still way cheaper than a ship excursion that only lasts a few hours, and have tons of people!

Chris makes it worth every penny!

Hope I was able to answer your questions! Let me know if you want any more info!

  5. Stingray Sailing limits the amount of people on their excursions to 25, I believe. So it is not crowded at all. You will see some boats out there jam packed with people! Not Stingray Sailing! One of the reasons we booked with them twice.

As far as seating- yes, it is shaded, but as far as Comfort- meh. It is just a bench. Not padded or anything. Nothing a sitting on a few towels can't fix!

It is a great tour!! And Captain Chip is the best!

  6. We have!!! Twice!!!

The first time with Stingray Sailing, the second with Eco because Stingray wasn't Sailing.

They are a little bit intertwined. Captain Chip owns Stingray Sailing. Kevin runs Eco. Kevin used to work with Chip on Stingray. Then he started his own. When we went on Eco, Captain Chip was also with us. So, essentially the same tour regardless of which company. Except Stingray is a sailboat, and Eco is just a powerboat.

This is an amazing tour! Should not be missed!

They know how to get you out to Stingray City before most of the other tours. So..before the crowds. It is almost like the stingrays know it is them, and they all gather around! Captain Chip even named some of them!

I have never done the snorkeling, but my boys love it!!

Last year, in November, we had awful weather the day of our tour. It was raining, windy, and freezing! I never even got off the boat! Captain Chip felt so bad that he didn't even charge for me since I didn't participate. Not to many will do that!

You can't go wrong booking with these guys!! You won't be disappointed!

  7. We have done this tour with them twice now. Two years in a row. There is a lot of " it depends" in this situation. If you really do arrive at 8am, I would say your chances are great that you would make it. It could take you up to 30 mins to catch a tender and make it over there. But... if you make it onto one of the first tenders, I would say you'd make it.

First it depends is... it depends on which pier you tender to. You may tender to the main pier where they are located. That saves time. You may tender to the pier down the street. Then you have to walk to meet them. Lose time.

Tour leaves at 9:15- so you really have until 9:15 to make it to the meeting point. Last time we toured with them, we were delayed in leaving. It was more like 9:30.. but that is not always going to happen.

Depends if you are the only ship in port that day as well. If you are, everyone on that tour is going to be late, so they are not going to leave with nobody.

It is tricky, and always never guaranteed.

Hopefully I helped, and didn't confuse you even more!!

PS- Captain Chip is great and this is an amazing tour!!

  8. Montego Bay is just over 2 hrs from Ocho Rios. Ocho is where all of the fun and action is. Dunns, Blue Hole, Mystic Mountain are all in Ocho. We ported in Montego Bay once. We hired Chris Linton from Chris Jamaica Tours. He drove all the way to Montego (2 hrs) to pick us up. Drove us all the way to Blue Hole (2 hrs) then drove us back to Montego Bay (2 hrs) and then had to drive back home to Ocho (2 more hrs). So he spent 8 hrs driving that day! He charged us $240 for 4 of us for the entire day. After Blue Hole he took us for an authentic jerk lunch at Scotchies, and the stopped to let us shop closer to Mo Bay so that we made it back to the ship in time. Traffic into Mo Bay gets super bad in the afternoon and he didn't want to take any chances with ship time.

He's great! Look him up! He does still go to the Blue Hole.

  9. Chris Linton from Chris Jamaica Tours. We were just in Ocho in November. Chris took us river tubing, then he took us to a restaurant way high up so we could take pictures of our ship in port. He then took us to Dunns River Falls. (This was amazing!)

And after a little shopping, he took us for an authentic jerk lunch at Scotchies. Had Us back to the ship in plenty of time.

Chris is the best!! This was our second time with Chris[emoji2]. I can't recommend him enough!

  10. Ocho Rios all the way!!! If you want to do anything fun and / or adventurous, you have to travel to Ocho to do it. The Blue Hole, Dunns River Falls, Mystic Mountain- they are all in Ocho Rios. We have ported in Montego Bay, and this year Ocho, and I recommend Ocho Rios!!! You can't go wrong....

  11. If you are porting in Falmouth, I believe it is about a hour and a half or so from the Blue Hole. The Blue Hole is amazing! But also involves a lot of climbing (kind of like Dunns River), and jumping off of cliffs into the water. Also rope swing into the water.

We used a great tour guide, Chris Linton from Chris Jamaica Tours. This time he took us river tubing. I was skeptical as well, as I had seen pictures of people tubing with helmets on. Which leads me to believe it is crazy and rough. Ha! Wow! Was I wrong!! The place Chris took us was so, so much fun! Just a lazy, relaxing float down the river!! And so beautiful! You are with a guide. I can't say enough how wonderful it was!

Hope this helps!! Look Chris up- I'm sure he will have other suggestions for you as well.

    Good luck!!

  12. The blue hole looks great but how do you get to it? Is it a long walk and on even ground? Have a few mobility issues but would love to do this if it would work.

Does anyone know if Wassii is open or reopened? I read that they weren't open anymore. We were there a few years ago and stopped there and saw some beautiful pottery/sculptures but it was at the beginning of the tour and I thought that we would be stopping at other places that would have the same thing. I could kick myself every time I think about this and wish I had just gone ahead and bought some things there. Anyone been there recently? (fingers crossed);)

Blue Hole is definitely not somewhere for you [emoji20]

It is very uneven terrain, as well as jumping into the water from cliffs. And rope swinging into the water. A lot of stairs as well. I did one jump, thought I was going to die and asked for the sissy way out [emoji12]

Our last trip, we did river tubing. It was a nice, relaxing float down the river. You might enjoy it!

I will email our tour guide friend and ask if Wassii is open for you.

  13. We have been to Scotchies twice now. Even better the second time around! We use Chris Linton from Chris Jamaica Tours. Chris is awesome! He even orders for us, and knows just what to get! The jerk pork is very good, but the sausage was the BEST!!

  14. We have used Chris from Chris Jamaica Tours twice. LOVE Chris!! Last year we went to the Blue Hole. You will have plenty of time. The Blue Hole is a guided tour, so it's not like you can just hang around for hours and swim. It is tour, and done and leave. Riley is a great Blue Hole guide. Chris took us for an authentic jerk lunch after Blue Hole and still had us back to the ship in plenty of time.

  15. No! Jamaica is not scary! At least it wasn't for us! We have been there twice now, and love Jamaica! We used Chris from Chris Jamaica Tours both time. Chris is amazing! You will never feel unsafe! Our last visit looked like this- river tubing, then he took us to a great little restaurant way up high so we could take Picts of our ship in port (Ocho Rios), then shopping. Then Dunns River Falls (this was amazing), then he took us for an authentic jerk lunch at Scotchies. And got us back to the ship in plenty of time.

  16. We just came off of the Vista. 6 day western. First formal night was day 2, first sea day. Second... well.... that's a bit fuzzy. It should have been on final sea day. However, Our printed fun times said cruise casual, but hub app said cruise elegant. It was a very mixed bag in the MDR. Some dressed elegant, some casual. A bit confusing. I was hearing rumors that they had done away with second elegant night. But, tablecloths were on tables which makes me think it was intended to be elegant.

Sorry, I probably just made it even more confusing for you! :-)
