  1. Hi there,

We will be going to Freeport & Nassau in September. We will be at both locations from 8am-5pm. We are considering using the People to People program.

    *Has anyone used this before?

*Would our times in port allow for the use of this program?

*Do we still need to find our own transportation?

We really don't know much about the program, except locals hosting a way to experience the Bahamian culture & way of life.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

  2. Hello friends!

We will be travelling to Freeport in September. Any ideas of inexpensive things to do in port? We've read that a taxi is a must for this port, which can be quite pricey for the 9 of us. Are there any additional transportation routes; i.e. public buses or water taxis?

We love sightseeing but with the costs of taxing around, this may end up being a short walk around port & then a day on the ship.

Any tips would be great! :)

    Thanks so much!

  3. We were in Nassau on Thursday. Personally, I was less than thrilled. It was dirtier than any US beach that I have been to. Broken beer bottle glass all over. My kids: 18, 12, & 4 played in the water & on the beach some but they did have to watch where they stepped. I went up on the cement pier to get pics of them playing. From up above, i could see all kinds on trash in the water. Grocery store bags, plastic cups etc. The bathrooms were clean.

My kids still enjoyed themselves & it beat paying for a day pass, as we didnt have much swim time.

We probably will try a different beach next time. However, if you go, dont have too high of expectations. Again, we were there this week, Thurs. 2/20/14. Arrived at beach around 3:30-4pm.

  4. Good Morning!

We are taking a 5 days cruise on Carnival to the Bahamas.

Our Ports of Call are: Key West & Nassau.

Hubby & I have been to Key West before, so no worries there!

My concern is Nassau. We've never been & have no idea of what to expect.

    My concerns:

*Stroller for 4 year old? Or skip bringing one?

*Free beaches that are great for families?

*What to do with the older kids: 18, 15, & 11?

*People to people with our family of 6? Doable? Will the kids enjoy it?

    *Great places for Souvenirs?

We want to have a great family trip with as little disharmony as possible. (Can't necessarily please everyone ;) But we want it to be an enjoyable experience.

    What should our expectations be?

Not interested in paying for beaches, or Atlantis. Way too pricey for our clan.

We are interested in Blue Lagoon though. :D

Any insight on Nassau, docking, etc, is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!!! :)

  5. Hello all!

This will be our first time taking our kids on a cruise. We are going Carnival to the Bahamas. 5 days.

Our kids are: 18 DD, 15 DS, 11 DS, and 4 DD.

    Here are my concerns:

    *Rooming?

*Having bored kids on the ship?

*Ports of Call: traveling around Nassau.

*What is essential to pack for the kids?

My husband & I loved our previous kid-free cruise. Hoping a family cruise will be great for all of us. Our 4 year old daughter can be a real crab, so my main concern is her.

Any tips, tricks, ideas are welcome!!!:)

    Thanks
