  1. For all of us going forward or those yet to book, the price adjustment will only be given if one finds a lower fare within 48 hours of the original booking. we booked a year ago so we're clearly not able to make a claim.

  2. dig a bit deeper and this is what you get.....

    Azamara Best Price Guarantee Form

Please fill out all fields below within 48 hours of booking your cruise to process your claim.

and when I complete the form this is Azamara's reply:

Your claim cannot be submitted as your reservation was made after 48 hours.

I'm afraid it's all a bit of smoke and mirrors. thanks for doing due diligence on my (actually all of our) behalf.

  3. thanks but 2 calls from the TA and one from me have netted only an upgrade to an outside cabin which is small change in my opinion. we are in the US too but that doesn't seem to help much. to get the guarantee the price drop has to be within 48 hours of original booking. Bah humbug!

  4. do any of you have advice or experience with a significant price drop on a booked cruise with Azamara? Our July 3 sailing is down almost $700! I have contacted our TA who was told they might be able to upgrade our cabin but that's it. Please advise! thanks

  5. Hello Socreader,

Thanks for your offer to advise. We will be docking in Leith with Azamara in July (overnight 5-6th). Any tips for getting to town from the dock and anything else you'd like to share would be much appreciated. we are walkers and wouldn't shy away from using our feet. Haven't been to Edinburgh in over 30 years so I'm really excited to revisit a place that remains vivid in my memory.

We will also be visiting Kirkwall and Portree.

  6. hello all

we are in the process of booking our first Celebrity cruise in 20 years so although not new to cruising we are new to turn of the century Celebrity! Not fussy about cabin size but do care about noise. Curious to know more about Deck 3 inside cabins which we considered but quickly nixed when we saw that deck 4 is the main deck with the foyer, hotel desk, some restaurants and bars and nearly all public space. To me that means lots of noise and activity above. We went with 2028 instead with cabins above and below. Any tips would be appreciated. Heading Pacific Coastal next SEPTEMBER so we will be in one of our favorite cities, Cruise Raider.

  7. Jan, I believe you were on coastal California a year ago February with Azamara (and us). We absolutely loved that one and would do another like it in a heartbeat. Haven't seen one since though. Guess it was an experiment that was not as successful as they hoped.

  8. Since I'm new to this line I haven't read the type of posts you write of. I've never thought of you as anything but knowledgeable, professional, helpful, gracious and classy.

As the adage goes, what the negative folks say says more about them than you.

so sorry to hear about Rickey. He too was always lovely.

  9. Hello Jan,

interesting to see you on an NCL board. I've booked with Rickey in the past and followed your sage advice and input on the Oceania and Azamara boards for many years. We just came back from our first NCL cruise, Boston to Bermuda. Our inside cabin had a magnifying mirror set into the bathroom mirror. My sister advised me to stay away from it!

After leaving mass market lines about 10 years ago for O and A I was more than a bit apprehensive about this trip but we were taking my sister and her 4 children and we live in Boston so it made sense. Discussions on the boards further intensified my concerns, particularly about food. I'm a live to eat kind of gal and my expectations were very low. I was pleasantly surprised, even impressed in some cases by our dining experience. I did not have one meal that disappointed and was often delighted by every item I selected. We ate breakfast and dinner in the Venetian and at Cageny's once. My husband declared that meal superior to both Prime C and Polo.

I had read that new menus were launched at the beginning of the summer and was hoping to have a chance to ask someone in the know if all Dawn menus are revamped and the ones we were presented. If so, I would say Mr. Del Rio is on the right track and we have transitioned from deliberately avoiding NCL to seriously considering another with them in the future.

    Have a wonderful cruise!

  10. From a description I read I thought the bus route passed through Hamilton on the way to the beach. I guess we will ask at tourist info at the dock.

thanks so much for the advice and caveat on the site. Raj does have questions and answers as recent as a few days ago and his bus/ferry info is much more current than many other sites I've reviewed.

  11. we may be shipmates. We leave Boston on Friday, Aug. 21. According to the Bermuda Attractions site, the closest place to buy tickets from the dockyard is 8 minutes by bus but it is only open weekdays. Our plan is to go to Horseshoe on Sunday so we may all take the bus 7 using tokens, have a designated buyer get off in Hamilton to make the purchase and then rejoin the others at the beach. It does seem the most economical of the options.

On Monday we will head to Tobacco Bay in St. George and then check out Hamilton on Tuesday, hopefully getting a fish sandwich at the highly acclaimed Art Mels.

I have a sister in law from Cowensville. Love Montreal! My grandparents were from PEI.

  12. Yes, I believe I read that too. Just wondering if anyone has experienced the new items and could offer some insight. I'm a food obsessed cruiser traveling for the first time with NCL on Dawn to Bermuda in August. I know NCL isn't as food focused as the lines we usually cruise but with the merger with Oceania I think things will be improving on that front. This is one of the innovations brought to NCL by the new regime.

  13. apparently this is one of the changes implemented by new leadership after the merger of Oceania and NCL holdings. Can't find the article that I read addressing the new menus beginning in July but here's a bit about the changes on land and sea.

Not sure what you mean by "her new owner" -- she was constructed by Oceania and is still owned by Oceania. Perhaps you mean the acquisition of Prestige Cruise Holdings ny NCL Holding? I can assure you, the ship did not go into the NCL fleet, the CEO of NCL Holdings (Frank Del Rio) is the founder of Oceania and the "father" of Riviera, the Vice Chairman of Oceania (Bob Binder) is a founder of Oceania, and the President of Oceania (Jason Montague) has been with the company since the very beginning. Nothing has changed, except the entertainment will be provided by NCLH, which many will believe is an improvement.

There have been many synergistic blendings of back office departments since the acquisition, but for the most part, they have skewed towards Oceania and Regent policies. There have been significant changes aboard NCL ships, to the dismay of some "Old Guard" NCL cruisers.

  14. We have over 30 cruises completed but none on NCL. We head to Bermuda with my sister and her 4 kids (teens and a tween) last week in August. I am interested in all things food, particularly breakfast. Are there options other than the MDR and the buffet for breakfast? Seems I read that the smaller venues (specialty dining spots) are open too.

    What is Carlo's bakeshop like?

Any thoughts on Cagney's? worth it?

    How are the desserts?

Morning pastry? Croissants, muffins, etc. Any recommendations?

Seems the most highly discussed item is the pretzel roll. Is there anything else we shouldn't miss? From checking threads on a variety of topics there seems to be little written about the food itself. I realize emphasis is on fun in the sun and activities but I'd love to explore this a bit. Do you have a favorite item?

    Thank you all.
