  1. There were a bunch of Moms going with me who had to fly from the Northeast--I was single and only had to fly from FLL to Tampa--I remember being so proud of them for going in spite of the uncertainty of what was going on in our world--they were determind not to let horrible people from interfering with our American Dream way of life. I also remember how nice everyone was to us in the ports we visited, graciously telling us how sorry they were about what happened and graciously acknowledging their dependence on American tourism, thanking us for still coming.

Unfortunatley everything has changed since then, we have been at war for over 10 years, but...that is for another board.

  2. As indicated all Fantasy class ships, the 1As are upper and lowers.

I think you should not post in public that you are taking HC cabins hoping to get upgraded, since Carnival usually doesnt bother and you are taking them from someone who needs them.. but thats not a 1A issue ... Id keep that kind of behavior secret myself.

    Dear Firefly,

I clearly stated in my post that I made it clear to the cruise line I did not need the cabin and this if someone needed the accessibility I could be moved. Not sure what you mean by "hoping to get upgraded" "or "Carnival doesn't bother." The HC cabins are bigger, but in the same category and when they have moved me because someone actually needed the accessibility it was within the same catogory.

I would NEVER lie or mislead about being handicapped, that is like parking in the HC spots.

    Please re-read BEFORE ACCUSING,

    THANKS,

  3. I'v been told the answer is no, they only allow 2 to the cabin. There are a few cabins that even hold 3, there is a picture of one on deck 6 of the Conquest. Book that one and maybe you can tip the cabin steward extra to make up the 3rd bed?? It wouldnt be fair to expect a steward to do the extra work otherwise.

They will not move in a roll away so you can put a 3rd person in a cabin that is only rated for 2. coast guard rules for one thing, you would have to sneak them in to sleep. cant sneak them in at night if you are asking the cabin steward to help.

If you cannot book 3 in the cabin, the cabin steward wouldnt help you sneak in a 3rd person.

Take it from me, you can sneak anyone in to sleep in your cabin at night--!!!!!!:eek::eek:

  4. I just wanted to clarify. Carnival is re-classing alot of staterooms across their fleet, so it's not that there won't be any 1A's. It's just what is now a 1A today could possibly be re-classed to a 4A, 5A etc.

I was just wanting to say your list could get out of date after this is finished on any given ship, so be sure to double check with your agent.

If you are booked in a 1A of course it's a 1A. Obviously those 1A's today with bunks, will still be 1A's when it's done. It's just some of the 1A's with two twins may be re-classed to 4a, 4b, etc.

    FYI.

In our group a few ppl. did not want to believe that these "special" 1As on Desitny were really a sofabed and normal bed with portholes. They opted for regular 4As (insides, more $) because their Agents (CCL and VTG) told them they were 1As and definitley bunkbeds. Mine even told me that when I booked. You can check with your agent but the photographic proof is here.

Some agents are GREAT but others are just telemarketers who may never have been on a single cruise.

  5. Ebandive,

I cruised in Destiny's 1A with bed, sofabed and portholes solo last year and I am about to cruise in the same cabin again 2101 thanks to your website. I was in U169 on Sensation and it was indeed bunk beds. I will figure out how to post pics and post em here.

Anyway thanks, this is great info!

This is not a strictly 1A issue but I once got a handicapped cabin (M298 oe 299 on a Fantasy calss) and since then have requested Handicapped-accessible cabins, making it clear that I am not a handicapped passenger and if someone actually NEEDED the cabin, put me in another one, and twice have been placed in these huge cabins. Most cruise lines have a few of the HC accessible in each major category--inside, outside and balcony.

Does anyone know of any supposedly 1A cabins on Fantasy class that have anything extra like a window or extra space?

1A's are confusing, at least to me, and it seems to be to other members on the Carnival forum. I have started different threads on the topic, and still have questions about other 1A cabins because they all seem to be unique. I thought it would be beneficial to have one thread dedicated to this topic with all the information you would want to know.

I have started by listing just about all the 1A cabin's by number on the different ship classes. I, for one, am especially interested to better understand which cabins have true upper/lowers, which one have 2 twin beds that are able to push together, and which have 1 bed and 1 convertible sofa. Also, which ones have portholes or other interesting info. Pictures, if anyone has them, are a plus (with ship and room #, of course)! :D Please contribute to my list and make any changes for errors I may have made.

    Thanks for your contributions!! :D

  6. I cruised with my sister, her hubby and his brother who is a good friend of mine. The brother met us in Mass after taking a redeye flight from soemwhere in Asia and packed in about 30 minutes, drove with us to CT flew to San Juan and got on the ship with us. First formal night he shows up in the dining room with two different shoes on. At least they were one left and one right! No one cared but we still laugh about it.

Some people we met also had the airlines lose their luggage. They were one girl and 3 guys. It was a 7 day cruise and they did not get their suitcases til they got home. Luckily our group had 4 girls and some of us had brought brand new clothes so we even had brand new underwear and pantyhose to give to her. She borrowed dresses and makeup on formal night. We all had a great time and still keep in touch.

  7. We were aboard the "last cruise" of the original "Love Boat" (Pacific Princess) from NY to Rome 2 years ago. There was a couple aboard who each carried a Teddy Bear with them, everywhere, all day long. Whenever they sat down to eat or drink, the bears sat on the table and "shared" with them. Whenever they won at Trivia (which seemed like every day) the bears collected the prizes. I think the bears even had different outfits, including tux and formal for the formal nights. Everyone on board was familiar with the "bear people".

Makes me feel a little less weird with my troll and stuff...

  8. The craziest thing I have ever seen on a cruise, A man walking around the ship with a stupied stuffed bird on his shoulder, with a stick hanging down from the bird so that he could make the head move around!! What an awful joke that was!!! He must of thought it was funny, but everyone else thought it was very dumb!!!!!

I can't believe what some people will do to be noticed..

I think that is cool he had a sense of humor. I would have loved it! You would have hated us...on a recent cruise one of our friends could not go so we made a life sized cardboard cut out of her and brought her to the disco, boat drill and even dinner one night. Oh, yeha you'd hate us..we bring trolls with us and have all kinds of Props and "antics" supplies. :D Lighten up!

  9. We do the the evian bottle thing but we keep them in our backpacks/carryons so they did not seem strange or attract attention inside the suitcase, just seem like a cold drink for the line. As long as it is clear colored. It felt funny pouring evian ($$) down the kitchen sink the night before the cruise, though. I suppose you could use Iced Tea bottles for whiskey or dark tequila...When we got to the first island (by that time the home alcohol was gone) we brought the empty bottles with us, bought some duty free liquor and poured it right into the plastic bottles on the street and then walked back onto the ship with it. We also brought coco lopez in cans-don't forget opener, pat obrian's hurricane mix in envelopes and my Black and Decker Party-mate cordless blender! With optional extra batteries and charger of course. We also do the big insulated coffee mug thing too. Not that we dont buy any alcohol on board but we do like to party and drink MUCH more than usual on the ship--as we have pretty serious and pretty tame lives at home--and we try to save some $ by supplementing our bar bill with our own liquor. It may be a little "cheap" but we "make it up in volume" as we cruise quite often. And with the $ we save we just patronize the SPA more. There's always a chance you'll get caught but I have smuggled liquor onto around 16 cruises and have not been caught yet! Good luck!
