  1. To answer your question without offering cab and Uber alternatives. Yes the Metro rail goes from the airport to downtown Miami and we did it with luggage with absolutely no issue. If you catch the train in the station I doubt anything that uses highways can beat the speed, At $2.25 each it is pretty cheap as well, the ticket machine takes credit cards and is easy to use. The free Metromover provides more coverage at the Miami end. There is also a free trolley, Coral Way that will drop you at the ship the next morning. I suspect that many would find it odd that we pay for a Balcony but avoid cab fares to save $20 or so. It can be done, you can spend the money on a fancy drink on the ship

  2. I agree as well. While I'll drink IPA's if there are no other options, my heart lies with stouts, porters, belgians and bocks. Any of the ships carry Spaten by chance?

I am another that is not into the highly hopped beers, The Addition of hops doesn't make it a craft beer, it just makes it taste like it has more hops

  3. Coming from an area and state that is becoming a leader in true craft brews, I have yet to see a true craft beer on a RCI ship. What they call craft is just a unique mass market beer, and almost all are national. A craft beer is made at the pub, usually in small batches. Some of the larger brewers in Michigan Founders, Shorts, Bells, KBC and many others do bottle but I doubt few out of the Great Lakes area have heard of them. For some reason high hops, alcohol or dark color means craft to some, sorry, no not really.

  4. Uber will be around $17. Cab will be around $27

If you don't have a lot of luggage you can take the Metrorail (orange line) but I would only do this without lots of luggage and without it being rush hour or late at night.

What do you consider late at night, is the issue safety? We are light packers and fairly fit but late 50's. Spouse and I have done trains in Europe and in Vancouver from airport to hotels or cruise port but don't really know Miami. Flight arrives at 8:30 pm going to a hotel 500 ft from a station

  5. We did the Anthem NE cruise that departed 9-22-16 last year. It was indeed an older crowd, plenty of Scooters and a lot of older Florida residents north to see fall colors, it wasn't really cold, and there wasn't a lot of color, but plenty complaining of cold. DW and I are almost retired ourselves, but from Michigan so we chuckled to ourselves as we went about in shorts. My guess average age was 65, as opposed to a more typical 45. I suspect that there were a couple of kids, but don't really remember any outside of our I fly group

  6. For roll calls go to cruise critic roll call, Royal, and then date. As for tours, we agree hate bus tours, too cheap for private. Hence, Boston we will take bus to subway and will do Freedom walk, visit the USS Constitution and find a nice brew pub. Portland we do have a private minibus tour out to to lighthouses, and will walk downtown area. Acadia National Park has a FREE shuttle, we will use that to our hikes. Only bad thing is the free shuttle does not go up Cadillac mountain, although it his hike able which we may do if weather is awesome and clear, as it is not worth it if hazy. We are using Enterprise car rental in Halifax and St John driving to Peggy's cove in Halifax, beating the crowds arriving by bus. Fundy trail is our drive in St Johns

  7. We are also on the 22 Sept Anthem run, and from SE Michigan, make sure you go to our quite active roll call. I agree expect cool not cold, and don't be surprised when you see us Northerners in shorts and sandals as long as it isn't in the 50's[emoji3] we are planning to hike in Acadia, and other active type excursions. Not sure if you would consider us young, but we are not old just yet.

As long as a hurricane doesn't follow the Florida folks North, we should be good weather wise.

  8. We were in 4068 on a Western Caribbean itinerary. Noise for centrum was not a problem as long as the doors were closed, and you will be further forward. There is noise of people dragging deck chairs on the promenade above, but it was not that bad. As for motion, at worst we felt a low frequency vibration that is suspect was from the waves hitting the hull, or the diesels. You would not get seasick from that, and barely notice.
