Out of curiosity, if you sign up to participate do they give you any tools and supplies? Or do you have to use whatever you find in your cabin and around the ship?

    You go find stuff yourself.

    They give you egg

Dosnt have to be elaborate. One guy wrapped egg in towel and stuffed into pillowcase - egg survived.

I think many of the Princess games are just silly, ridiculous and childish.  Princess passengers give Carnival passengers a hard time for some of the games they have onboard but Princess games are just as nonsensical as Carnival's.

    Very silly.

    And childish.

    So much fun.

Put a lot of thought into my parachute contraption that could only be made by items from onboard. The cushioning made by cutting up straws I thought was inspirational.

    And, I won!

  3. They are doing renovations in the departure lounge at the moment which means a crowded loud space. Very little seating.

If you don't have the luxury of being able to use your airlines lounge then I heartily recommend the Strata Lounge.

You can book online, NZ$49 for three hours.

Complimentary papers, high speed internet, to, hot and cold snacks and drinks - hot/cold/alcoholic, all self serve.

It's peaceful with heaps of comfy chairs - the perfect way to start our holiday.

  4. It sounds like you are saying you bought the not-alcoholic package for can of Coke zero, but from what I know, you can not get can from the package.

After a lot of umming and arrrhhing I plumed for the classic package - $6 more than non- alcoholic premium.

And according to Celebrity website cans of Coke Zero are available with Premium non-alcoholic, classic alcoholic and premium alcoholic.

  5. Wow, is that US $?

We are sailing Celebrity Solstice in a couple of weeks and paid US$28 for 17 day cruise and thought that was a lot.

Do you have the non alcohol package. If you have the classic unlimited package for 28.00 you hit a home run. The cheapest I have ever seen it is $55.00 + 18% grat.

I would strigger to drink one glass of wine a day so went for premium Nom alcoholic as I like my coke zero from a can not a soda machine.

Hubby has the classic drink pagage for his beer ;p

  6. trying to decide if worth getting the drink package. for a 7 day cruise its basically $67 a day.

how much is it a beer?

    how much is a water?

    a frozen drink?

    any ideas?

    thanks in advance

If I was paying what was equivalent to a days wages every day I defiantly wouldn't get a package. That being said why not just try paying cash for a couple days - if you find the cocktails just too delicious to resist, then get a package ;p.

  7. Tipping is an American oddity.

Whilst i might occasionally tip a waiter after an excellent meal, that's about it.

So if you've an American accent then pepole wont be surprised if you tip (countries own currency or if a poor country then US $).

As the tip is non obligatory make the amount worthwhile for tour guides and just round up for taxi drivers.

  8. Please try river cruising you might be surprised.

We travelled with APT from Budapest to Amsterdam and had a great time.

The "wired for sound" tours are in fact a boon to someone with bad hearing, and the beauty is that you can be a fair distance from your guide and still hear clearly what they say - no need to bunch up.

You can of course go off by yourself at each stop - one lot actually left and rejoined after racing us along the banks on push bikes.

The rivers, going up and down the locks, and the fact you're close to shore the whole way makes for fascinating sights.

And best of all its all inclusive - booze, food, tours, tips etc. No nasty surprises at the end.

  9. Most men will wear whatever our wives tell us to wear. Then we'll act like it was our own idea all along.

Exactly. I want to wear my best dress so hubby will need to match me.

Remember - Happy Wife, Happy Life.

Our only restriction is a 23kg luggage allowance for a months holiday.
