  1. Missbrightstar-That's what I was afraid of. The frozen drinks would be the draw for my son...not sure that it's worth it for us otherwise. He's not a soda drinker. Probably better to just let him get one a day and then just drink water or whatever (he's mostly a water drinker at home). I also may just wait til we're onboard and ask the powers that be. It sounds like there are discrepancies on the rules amongst different ships. We're going in June on Splendour...I'll report back!

  2. We were the 10th & 11th cabins from the front on the Serenade on Deck 10 and it was just fine.

Think of it this way - it's better than being at work!

    Ha! So true, MOSusan!

I just looked at the website; our travel agent booked us in an adjoining room, which is good. But I see there are a couple of rooms adjacent (though not adjoining, which isn't really an issue for us - we're going with our kids who are college aged) aft. Is it worth making a switch? Or should be just leave well enough alone?

    I know....I'm overthinking this!:o

  3. We were very late deciding and booking our cruise (Mediterranean) on Splendour of the Seas. We ended up with fore cabins (2 of them - about 12 or so from the very front of the ship). I keep hearing that we will really feel motion and would be more prone to seasickness there. Now I'm starting to feel worried :(

So...is this warranted? Can anyone give me their experiences with fore cabins? This is only our second cruise; the first was Alaska with a mid-ship cabin, which was fine.

    Thanks!

  4. Thanks for sharing your photos, ROCruiser and lovestx....what amazing shots!

I'll also look into the ship excursion....i do think that based on what I've heard that he can handle the cable cars.

As for whether a large cruise ship would be an issue - I know he's fine with that, as we've already done one other cruise to Alaska on a comparable sized ship. I guess there's different degrees to everything :)

  5. Thanks to all who shared their experiences with me (esp. those who had a similar issue). After giving it some thought, I think the cable car may work out OK. It's a short ride and not very high off the ground apparently. I'll have him sit looking away from the water (a win-win - I get the good seat :) ) and I think it will be fine.

I can't wait to get there now! :)

  6. We will be doing a family cruise this June with Santorini being one of the ports. One in our group has issues with heights; for example - being on a ski gondola (or similar) would be a problem. He also has trouble driving on roads that have drop offs (he once tried driving on the Pacific Coast Highway - not good!) I can't imagine him doing the donkey ride and not sure about how the cable car is.

SO....question is: What is the best, least scary way ;) for us to get to Fira/Oia and tour the area? Any suggestions/specifics welcome!

Edited to also ask: How long does the cable car ride take? If it's very quick, he might be able to suck it up :)
