  1. We are trying to find out the least expensive way to do 3 or 4 hours at a beach in either St Maarten or St Thomas. We can book the excursion through the cruise line and includes lunch and a few free drinks for $64 each going to Orient Beach but not sure if it is cheaper to do it yourself or not. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Catch a bus on back street in St Maarten for 2 bucks a person. Make sure it says Maho/Mullet Bay on the bus and it will drop you off 3 minutes away from Mullet Beach. When you are done with Mullet Beach walk over to Maho bay where the planes land and watch them till you need to go back to the port. Facing the water turn right and go back the way that you entered the beach stick to your left and go back on the main road. The buses will be coming by all the time to go back to the port. Total cost of travel both ways is 8 bucks for 2 people. Make sure the license plate says BUS on it. Also it is a 15 minute walk from the port to the bus stop.
  2. I don't mind getting dressed up in the least but I really do not have a jacket besides the older looking one I wear to funerals. We are going on our first cruise on the Reflection Saturday and we wanted to try room service anyways. The question I have is does the room service food usually arrive semi hot? I would hate to eat such a nice meal on a cold plate and would actually go to the formal night if there was a risk of supper not being hot.

  3. Buy cases of water at a drugstore in FLL and leave them in the package. Then slap your luggage tag right on the case of water. They will deliver them to your room with your luggage. We have done that with water and soda in the past. I don't think there is a limit.

Great idea. I will definitely try this. I would like to bring a 24 pack on but would hate to be turned down due to it being to big though. Its funny searching there website isn't bringing up much info. Thanks again.

  4. I waited for 30 mins on the phone to get disconnected when I finally connected to ask this question. Does anyone know how many we can bring? My wife is pregnant and I know the ship water is filtered but just for peace of mind due to taste and quality I want to bring as many as possible. If someone could inform me or direct me to a site that has this information on the water and other items that we can bring on board it would be greatly appreciated.

  5. We are leaving on the Reflection in less then 2 weeks. It will be our first cruise as well. This review has me even more excited then I was if that's even possible. The only thing I was disappointed to learn was that the Mast Grill served pressed burgers. I had planned to eat most of my sea day lunches by the pool but if they are frozen processed burgers I can see my wife wanting to go to the buffet instead.

Aside from that I am glad you had a great trip and hope we have a similar experience as you did.

  6. Everyone keeps saying that you need to leave early to go back to the port due to heavy traffic. I see that the Air France plane lands around 2:50 on the day we are in St Martin. Our Cruise ship leaves at 5:00. If we leave immediately after the landing will be able to get back to the ship in time? There are 5 ships that are in the port as well.

  7. Can anyone confirm that the Mast Grill is open on embarkation day? Also I am going on the Reflection in a couple of weeks and have looked over the web for a menu on the grill and so far have only found hamburgers/hot dogs and fries. Am I missing anything else they serve for food?
