  1. Some people are sociable and enjoy mixing and meeting new people. Nothing wrong with group tables if you're a sociable person. We're a sociable couple, but are quite happy if it's just the two of us too! You know the score with the group tables. If you don't like it, then that's fine, but no point moaning about it, when you know that that is how it works!

  2. No offence to our American cousins, but in my opinion, the recommended gratuity is usually for the benefit of the USA tourists. They know the Americans will pay it, because tipping is part of their culture. The tour was fantastic, but the whole party agreed that a £365 tip would have been way over the top!

  3. At today's business rate, $300 US is approximately £202! The 15% tip is recommended not compulsory. We discussed it with our fellow tourers, and we unanimously decided that 10% was adequate! Still a sizeable amount (£240 approx)!

  4. We used it last year, and my husband has used it for work purposes. In my opinion it's safer than a car park, as the owners live there, and many are very secure. You're on a driveway, not on a road. Just read the reviews! We had a taxi to the port, £11 each way, so much cheaper, even after the taxi fare.

  5. We didn't find that in Copenhagen (Denmark) or Kristiansand (Norway) in the summer - pretty much everywhere was only taking the local currency.

We got money from ATMs in both those ports.

Well, admittedly, we didn't shop everywhere. I only used a card in Kristiansand, but I certainly made two purchases in Copenhagen with Euros. Depends where you shop I suppose!

  6. Having been on B deck this year, I'm not sure I would want to be on C deck! We were treated to the, not very pretty, sight of a young couple in their bath robes one afternoon. Let me just say he certainly let it all hang out! I don't think they were aware of just how much we could see while he had one leg up on the rail! 😱

  7. I'm not sure if any if you are aware, but many of the staff have more than one role. My husband (very observant by nature) drew my attention to the fact that some of the bar waiters had actually served us in the restaurants on previous nights!

  8. We did Alla 2 day tour in July. No worries about getting back to the ship. They do the furthest away sights the first day, and do the nearest attractions to the ship the second day. They guarantee to get you back. We were 12 on the tour, all from the same ship. Excellent driver and guide. Saw so much more, jumped queues, and learnt so much! Nothing to worry about!
