  1. We live in Houston and annually take the LOS out of Galveston.  This year I've been convinced to take the trip to Florida to cruise on the Oasis out of Port Canaveral.  Looking forward to the cruise but not the logistics of the trip.  My question is for anyone who has done this-  Will I have time to catch an 1150AM return flight on Sunday to Houston?

    Tia!

  2. Following. We cruise on the Liberty on May 1. We were really looking forward to trying out the waterslide.

I also just got off the Liberty today and while it's irritating that Tidal Wave isn't working, the other 2 are REALLY fun slides. My kids loved them and so did I. Change Tidal Wave to regular slides if it won't work as is imho.

  3. Wonder if I could take on some Clamato along with my waters??? I think that is the problem with their Bloody Marys....they use plain tomato juice and that awful mixer.

I don't think they use any tomato juice, just that gross Island Oasis Bmary mix, it's strangely sweet. Give anything to be able to bring on some Zing Zang.

  4. I was on the same cruise as you and agree about the coffee. It was either way to strong or they use Nicaraguan coffee, which I do not like at all. I also agree that the service was outstanding in all areas. I did not like the buffet food except for breakfast and only had two things I did not like in the MDR. Sorry to hear about your issues going through customs. I was in a long line but did not have to wait as long as you.

I agree with this, we've been on the Navigator the last two spring breaks and are leaving on the Liberty this weekend- the coffee is always disgusting. I love RCCL but the bad bloody mary mix and the coffee have to be the two things that are my least favorite.

  5. Sailing in two weeks, logged on to reserve and get this:

    The Premium Beverage Package*

    PRICES STARTING FROM*

    $64.90 USD Adult per day

    Anyone else seeing this increase?

On the phone with them now, they are saying it's Spring Break pricing for the drink package- are you freaking kidding me????

  6. What a wonderful cruise. We had a blast and thought the changes/additions were really nice. The staff was eager to serve and always smiling. If you have any questions, ask away, I'll try to answer.

When sailing out of Galveston, The state of Texas wants their tax $ on all liquors/beer sold etc. As such, RCCL only elects to buy the lower end liquors which equals lower taxes paid. Here's a pic of what is served until the ship hits international waters of 12 miles out. In our case, it was approximately 7pm.

The first night, MTD was a flat out disaster. It appears that everyone made reservations to eat around 6 - 6:30pm. Two lines were formed, those with reservations and those without. The line w/ reservations was several hundred people deep. The line w/o was about 12 people. Needless to say, the wait was well over an hour long to be seated. Many just left. We changed our reservations to 7:30 for the rest of the week. We had no issues the remainder of the week.

There has been a lot of discussions of drink prices on the boards the past 18 months or so. Mostly complaining about the cost etc. On this sailing, the R Bar & Boleros offered some nice drinks for $10 each.

God, I so dislike the RCL Bloody Mary mix, it's terrible. Really wish they would use Zing Zang.

  7. I also was on this cruise and we had an incredible time. A couple of things that I did not like:

    1. The brewed coffee throughout the ship was disgusting. I've sailed several times with RCL and never have experienced this. When adding cream the coffee did not even turn the normal caramel color, it looked more like mud (and tasted like it). Also, they no longer put out the to-go cups in Cafe Promenade and acted somewhat put-out when I requested them. Even then, they would not provide the hand protectors for the cups.

    2. The food service in the MDR was just incredibly, painfully, slow. 30 minutes between courses was the norm.

On the positive side of things, Sabor was fantastic and the WJ was unusually good.

Also, I would advise most people who drink at all to get the Premium Package. The prices are now officially insane. An obvious ploy to get everyone to sign up for a package.

Regarding, disembarkation- we had no issue whatsoever. We arrived at the theater with our pass at about 7, the line started moving at about 7:15, we basically just walked right out of the ship and through customs with incredible speed. My family and I were at our home on the west side of Houston by 8:50AM.

Great trip, looking forward to the Liberty.
