  1. Morning, I just booked a day room at the Comfort Inn on 2/28 because I have a late flight back to NY. We are sailing on the Jewel on 2/21/28. Keep in mind that February is high peak time and you would want to reserve as quickly as you can. Also contact the hotel directly and ask for the daily use rate. Being I did this yesterday I hope this information is helpful.

    Hello,

We are looking for a day room in San Juan on Sunday, February 1, 2015. We have a three year old that still naps and with a late afternoon flight, we think this is our best option. We are happy to pay a fee to utilize their space, but thus far, haven't found any locations that will guarantee a room. Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

  2. Morning, Im just curious if you wanted to see the performance. Since you technically had a reservation there already, I would have kindly requested to keep my table with same costs, therefore you could have the best of both, your table and entertainment, especially for your birthday. Nevertheless whatever you choose, have a Happy Birthday and enjoy your evening. :)

At the risk of getting flamed I do want to ask a question about something that's happened to us....

MONTHS ago I reserved Giovanni's Table on Serenade so my wife and I could enjoy a dinner on my birthday during our upcoming cruise. It leaves in just a few weeks and a few days ago I got a call from RCI saying they made a mistake and that this restaurant was being used for Mystery Dinner Theater and I'd need to change my reservation. They said if I wanted to stay there I'd have to pay more for the MDT.

I guess I'm most upset that I booked months in advance and now the preferred times are certainly all gone even if I wanted to change nights. For instance, I want to go to MDR on Christmas Eve and Christmas and of course Sea Days are better than port days to dine in my opinion.

They offered an apology but should they have offered more? Even a FREE upgrade to Chops would have made me happy. (And no, I didn't ask. That's my fault).

In the end, I think they ended up winning because I wanted to do the Italian restaurant for the first time (I've already done Chops) so I booked chops for my birthday, Giovanni's for another night, and then because of the buy 3 save 20% we went ahead and got a third night! Ha!

  3. Everyone has different ideas of what is important to them. I love having a stamp of every country I've visited in my passport. And it's definitely worth the time for me to find an immigration official to stamp it. Just remember that everyone has different priorities.

I have no confirmation on this, but I understand the purser can help you ensure your passport gets stamped as well. I'm going to try this on our cruise.

Thanks for all the feedback..Gordbot, that is exactly my intention..to get the stamps as part of my souvenir....I dont know what and who a purser is..but I will look into that.

  4. Good Morning All,

I was reading the updated responses this morning and call RCI back to verify what I had posted yesterday. They confirmed that I do not have to purchase the package for the entire length of the trip. It just has to be minimum 4 consecutive days. I explained it did not make sense to book the package when I boarding 6pm Saturday and returning 6am Sunday morning. RCI stated that I would have up until Tuesday to puchase the package, this seems more reasonable.

They also confirmed that the Premium package which I will be purchasing is $55 per day per person and includes unlimited cocktails and beers (including well drinks)

I have no doubt on any of the posters here. We (or most) are first time cruisers and I wanted to get the bottom line.

  5. I contacted RCI this morning. They informed me that the Premium package does include Vodka, Rum, etc.... Further more you can purchase a package up to 4 days on the boat as opposed to the entire trip. I prefer to go that route, so check directly with your cruise line.

  6. I am also considering a package because I want to be at peace on the ship. I was under the inpression we could purchase a package daily. Since we will be on several excursions we will not be on the boat drinking until after we return.

Secondly I was under the impression that the packages were unlimited. So when I order a drink I still have to do a countdown in my head?

I am not a coctail or a wine drinker. Im a cognac lady ;).

Thank you in advance for your answers.

  7. Hello all,

I agree with poster South Paw with the underwater camera. I booked a couple of excursions going to the waterfalls and do not plan to ruin my phone in the mist. With your cell your'e going to take nice pictures and then you probably may be compelled to spend another couple of minutes checking text, emails (we all do this ;)). This is my first cruise and Im looking forward to visiting the beutiful ports of call. If I walk around with the phone attached to my hip I may miss beautiful views of the countryside. Once I board Im socking the phone away and will not look at it until we return to San Juan.

    Its a vacation:D

  8. I was also concerned about bringing spices back from Granada but found an article somewhere (sorry, I can't provide a link) that it was OK.

    Now this is interesting,

As a new cruiser, I will be docking in Grenada in February 2015, and do plan on returning back with spices. One reviewer reported that she carried her spices, and other condinments back in bottles. I read others had bagged it and it molded. Are we allowed to bring little bottles with us to bottle up the spices to bring back to the US?

  9. Thank you everyone for your welcoming me aboard! Im excited, anxious and a little imtimadated since Im reviewing from most people who are "seasoned". I hope I wont be a bug asking so many questions, but I will only ask if I dont see an updated (2014 at least previous answer).
