One thing you should be aware of, which I found out the hardway, and my OH will not let me forget is that about 25% of seats on each coach donot have a window next to them, or have restricted window space, so if you are booking online check the seat plan to make sure you have a view, its no fun 4.5hrs looking at the side of the carriage

the Open Golf 2015 page on http://www.Scotrail.co.uk gives more detail than the Golflink 2015 page, yes you could buy a ticket on your day of travel, but as the train is probably the best way to get to StAndrews ,Waverley station in EDI is likely to be extremely busy, and subject to probably long queues.

Thanks for all info. How much is the HOHO?

Would you be doing a ships tour ,or would you be doing it independently, if the later and to make sure you got back to the ship in time you would only have 3.5/4 hrs max in Edinburgh if you used the train, and you would have to change stations in Glasgow

When we stopped in Victoria stayed on board had a leisurely dinner on board, the watched Les Miserables on the big screen in the theatre total audience about 20.What I did notice was a couple of hundred people disembarked the cruise, and this appears to be normal practice for canadians

last year the cruise I was on according to port website was supposed to berth at langelinie, however when we arrived it was at oceankaj , seems the captain changed to berth the night before because he was worried about the winds.Completely ruin the plans I had made .

Greenock which is the port used for Glasgow has cruise ships berthing a Princes Pier Container Port which is on the town side fairly industrial but on the opposite side has very scenic views over the Clyde and to the mountains beyond, And sail up the Clyde estuary is very attractive especially when you sail between Arran,Bute and the Cumbraes

From 26th Oct this year BA flts to BCN will operate from Terminal3 , again if you are in transit just follow the Flt Connections signs, normally when you check in at Chicago you would be given your boarding passes in a wallet which gives details of the transfer procedures at LHR

It also says at the top of the lounge info only available if travelling First, Club World or Club Europe or if you are a Gold or Silver Executive club member

we did the 2 day comfort tour with ALLA in june,11 in the group in a small bus,sit down meals on both days, which were very good.Didnt have much problem with traffic delays, though we may have been luck, and on the second day we were back at the ship with a lot of time to spare. As said above its your holiday check out the various operators see which one matches what you want and book it,what ever one you chose who will have a tiring but unforgettable time

if you look at http://www.heathrowairport.com and select terminal5 this will give you information as to what is available in the terminal

Last year in May we did the White Horse and Yukon excursion, there was still deep snow by the road and coming back on the train,so its interesting seeing what it looked like in the summer months, though I think the snow made it easier to understand the hardships the prospectors went through.

I don't know if you are aware that you will be in Scotland on what could be the cusp of history, as on the 18th there is being a referendum on whether Scotland should become an independent nation.

Used Alla couple of weeks ago, in SPB very good 11 on the tour (Comfort) guide very knowledgeable, and very open was like a family outing rather than a guided tour.

they are also on sale in Helsinki and Tallinn, but again nylon fur, real fur will probably be rather expensive. I know when I was on BoS they were on sale at $30.00

using the public loos in SPB requires roubles one we used outside Cathedral of the spilled blood was 30 roubles paid to the attendant, also restaurants we used for lunch only took roubles for beer, soft drinks

visited an active Russia orthodox church last week, the guide said she would have to wear a head covering as she was of orthodox faith, but not required for women who were not orthodox

Just back from a cruise on Brilliance of the Sea, used Alla for a comfort tour also did a tour with them in Helsinki and Tallin ,total for the 3 tours was USD336.00 each.good value. In SPB 11 of us in a minivan, guide was very good (Catherine), was long days , and queues though as tourist you do get to skip lines, though 5 cruise ships in port so lots of other tourists. The lunches provided where excellent on day 1 at a replica of the summer palace with 4 courses on day 2 at a restaurant opposite the hermitage with 5 courses

Virgin Train from EUS to Edinburgh
in British Isles/Western Europe
Posted
tartanexile81 if you look at the seating plan on the virgin trains site you will see seats marked in blue which says limited or no view, and I can assure you seats 31/32 in coach A which I had definitely had no side view, and a very limited view over the people in front
