  1. That is very informative. We have always just use the auto tip but was thinking of removing it and giving cash to the staff. Now we will give extra to whomever warrants it.

I know that staff on the ship are paid very low wages so I do not have a problem tipping but I am not so generous with the longshoreman who collects luggage for transport to ship. In Canada at least, they are part of the union and are paid very well. In some part of the world, they might not be so well paid.

  2. I see that some of you mentioned the Beef Wellington and Goat Cheese Souffle. Those sound yummers!!!

    Questions:

    1) What dining venue would I be able to order those at on ship?

    2) Would I be able to order those is I am planning on doing the "anytime" seating?

    3) Do you all recommend and or like the anytime seating"?

Thanks in advance for your info! :)

Yes those should be on the menu in MDR, either tradition or anytime (same menu) but not every day. Menu change daily.

I am not a fan of anytime seating but it seem to be popular. That is what is so nice, you pick whatever you like. Advantage of traditional, same waiter, no waiting for empty table, no worrying sharing table with someone unpleasant (but could be stuck with someone unpleasant for the whole cruise.) Anytime, flexible time, different table/view, meeting different cruisers.

Everybody has different preference but personally, Princess is my favourite by far. Most days, there are at least 3 main entrée that I want to have and I use to order 2 but now being older I can't eat so much. On other lines, process of order is to pick the item I least dislike. I also like the food on HAL too.

  3. Basically, the answer is yes. We want to use our FCC and have OBC for our cruise next week but there was a little hitch. Our TA came back and said that our FCC was in US dollars and we paid Canadian dollars and time was to short for Princess to convert. Anyway a quick phone call to Princess solved that problem. They gave us OBC as customer goodwill and credit the FCC back to our credit.

I have always had good service from Princess and that is why I cruise with them most of the time.

  4. I have searched and know this question have been asked before but no figures were given. I have seen answers to take bus, train, hire auto but no figures were quoted.

Can someone state an approximate of what a taxi would cost from cruise terminal Southamton to Gatwick on a Thursday at 7:15 am. Would it be 200 or 300 GBP?

I am trying to find out for one of our parties who booked an early flight. They are willing to pay but need to know how money to bring. Also do taxi there take credit card?

    Thanks

  5. Just a couple of thoughts.

    1. It is not the amount that you have won or lost that determines comps. It is the amount of action that you gave them, the total amount betted, win or lost.

    2. If RCCL operates the casino 100% without any other partner than they should be more incline to offer you more comps as they do not have to split their high profits with any other company.

  6. As someone who has been around poker for a few years, I'll post my thoughts on the subject. Mind you, these are only my opinions, feel free to disagree.

1 Online "play money poker" has no relationship to "real money" poker (either online of live.) A play money player that has won millions/billions of dollar can not beat 1cent/2cent real money game.

2 A online 10/25 cents ($25) NLHE player is about the equal of a $1/$2 ($200) live game player.

3 Cruise ship have the softest players (small sample of six times only.) Most of the time, about 1 other good player, bunch of so/so player, 2 donators. I think reason being most people are on board to have fun.

Except on special poker cruises, I have found that only a single $1/2 NLHE table is offered with maybe a small buyin tournament in the afternoon. The rake is criminally high but it is worth playing because of the very soft game. If land poker use the same rake structure, knowledgeable player would not player because cannot win enough to cover the rake. A plus for the electronic table is no need to tip.

You would not find too many pro's on cruise ship table because 1/2 is too small.

As poster above said. 3 card poker, Caribbean poker are not real poker, they are house game where the house always have the edge. Texas holdem is more like golf or bowling. It is a game of skill, you play against other player, the casino profit is the rake. To the poster that said holdem looks dangerous, it is less dangerous than the casino table games. Learn just the basic and you should to hold your own against cruise ship poker players.

  7. If this is true, then my days with Princess may be numbered. On my next cruise I will make my thoughts known to the person in charge of 'Future Cruises!'

Echoes my sentiments exactly. Have hosted duplicate bridge is one of the main reason we cruise with Princess. I am sending email to public relations.
