  1. Hi! we did this voyage LAST March and I think I can answer some of your concerns. We had an Arctic Superior Cabin on board. There was no real need to smuggle booze on board. The wait staff did a magnificent job of keeping our wine glasses FULL at lunch and dinner. One of them even told us that since the RA was going north after we arrived in Valparaiso, they needed to empty down the wine supply else they would be taxed on what they brought when they got to America (so it was free flowing).

As for tendering and excursions, we were all on all the excursions because, as you will see in places like Tortel, there is not really any other "game in town". So they tender everyone in a very orderly fashion and you won't feel like you are missing out.

Hang loose and enjoy. Not very much was well explained to us before that trip (or even onboard). But the places we went and the things we saw.....amazing.

  2. Hi all,

It is becoming apparent that our Feb14 Silhouette sailing won't be stopping at Grand Cayman. The Celebrity website and app haven't caught up with that information (I know there's an ever-changing situation). Just wondered if the collective here has insight on any substitute or replacement ports they might take us to...or shall we just enjoy another delightful day at sea. I'm feeling the Cartagena stop is pretty "iffy" as well. Thanks!

  3. Quick question: Our Vision cruise is one of the ones cancelled. I understand about the 125%FCC but my question is: does that amount include the cruise fare only? What about the monies we paid for drink packages, shore excursions, Chef’s Table, etc.? Do they come out as credits also? Thanks!

We skipped package for first time , since we are diamond plus and in suite where drinks don’t count against the five .also had UDP which gives us a 40 percent discount on wine bottles under a hundred.

Am Diamond Plus and just came off Adventure and the drinks in the Diamond Lounge did count for the 5....they swiped my card every time....

  5. I have zero experience with the "Royal Up" process. I lovingly recall the days of old where loyal customers were granted the occasional unexpected and beloved upgrade...That being said, did they just email you with the invitation? We are on the Feb 14 Vision sailing and didn't get an invite (am in Junior Suite and am D+). Not sure it would be worth the $1200 total on Vision Class either...Let us know what you decide.

  6. Hi all,

We are booked on Jade for the Norway, Iceland, Scotland cruise. As we are coming a long way, the luggage restrictions can be severe. We do like to dress well if there are "formal" nights but haven't been on Norwegian in a LONG time. What do folks wear? Tux? Gowns? Do they even have "formal" nights? Thanks in advance!

  7. Hi all,

Please forgive me but we are new to NCL (Diamond Plus on RCI). Doing a 14 night on the Jade in September in a suite. We got the Specialty Dining and a drink package. What does it mean? What are must-does? Must-dines? How do I know what the entertainment is going to be in order to reserve tickets to shows? Help a NCL Rookie please!! Thanks!

  8. Hi everyone! Just returned from a fantastic 12 day Mediterranean on Brilliance. We had an Owner's Suite and were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The trip was great right until the end. We put the bags out the night before as we always have done. When we debarked on Wednesday morning, one of our suitcases was missing in action. We searched high and low and nothing... Filled out the Lost Property Form and followed up with phone call and email. No news yet. I figure if there's no news by now, it's a goner.

So....if any of you have been thru this, I'd appreciate any advice you can give. We have trip insurance and can file but the value of the clothes exceeds any reimbursement they could give (we had our finest gowns, shoes, and tuxedo for the trip as it was a special one). Any "gotchas" to be aware of?

    Thanks in advance!

  9. Keep it coming. I know they were looking to put us on the Celebrity ship at one point but couldn't make it work. I agree with the one poster about RCCL getting paid twice for the same thing. In an even stranger turn, you can get online right now and book a cabin ON THIS BOAT. So what they are telling me about it being full appears to be BS.

  10. Hi all,

Need to borrow from the wealth of knowledge out there. Background: DH and myself and my two besties (Bestie1 and Bestie2) booked two separate cabins on Jewel for this weekend's cruise to Southern Caribbean. We all live in different cities (Houston, St. Louis, and Dubai) but planned to meet in SJU and enjoy a great week together. Bestie1 made the reservation for her cabin and Bestie2 called and booked into her room paying her half.

Bestie1 booked a pedicure for her last day on board. Bestie2 had a son tragically killed last week. Bestie2 had cruise insurance (we all do) but she called RCCL yesterday and told them she would not be on board the Jewel and that she would have to file a claim with CruiseCare to get some of her money back. Bestie1 is preparing to get on the plane in Dubai to start her long journey and gets an email that her pedicure has been cancelled. She went to check her reservation and found none. She calls me freaking out (WTH?WTH?).

I called the Crown and Anchor desk to find out what had occurred. It seems whoever took the call from Bestie2 had cancelled the entire reservation. I said WHOA! Put Bestie1 back in her cabin. Poof! Cabin had already been resold. Our cabin will not accommodate three people. RCCL said ALL cabins had been sold. Supervisor at RCCL was able to call someone in a cabin that would accommodate three people and swapped them into our cabin so Bestie1 would at least have a bed to sleep in (how romantic....just the THREE of us!).Incidentally, the ONLY notification she got about the booking cancellation was the pedicure cancellation. Nice job, RCCL!

I am told the supervisor at RCCL is actively watching for any cancellation so that Bestie1 can be put into her own cabin. What should my expectation be as far as recompense if that doesn't happen? Bestie1 should have her cruise fare lowered, yes? How about ours? Is there a chance they hold a cabin or two in abeyance for weird circumstances like these?

    Discuss... and thanks in advance.
