I went to the Apple store and Verizon yesterday for info regard use in Europe. Turn data off! They said before I leave call Verizon and add a global calling plan for $4.99 a month. Calls to US will be $.99 a minute. The plan can be cancelled when I return. Texts are as previously mentioned at $.05 in ans $.50 out. Got to love the iPhone for photos that will automatically sync to the iPad for posting on emails and social media.
