  1. Storm forecast with the path of its track become less accurate at 72 to 96 hours, 3 to 5 days - especially true for "Jose" - even the weather experts agreed that their different models are having lots of trouble with it - warm & cold fronts, jet streams have been playing tricks on everyone.

No matter what, the Atlantic waters look choppy, whether it's Bermuda bound or possibly going south ... based on oceanweather dot com's chart on waves. Sailing north, which is a possibility but I think all the ports big enough with deep channels are probably full over the next several weeks with foilage sailing by all the lines ... Unless, the BA can "bump" the Gem at the ports as she is doing NE/Canada on the next several sailings.

12' to 15' seas are moderate & light chops for the Breakaway - but, we had been on her cutting thru 15' seas and for safety reasons, outdoor decks were closed ... perfectly fine to sit on our almost Fwd balcony, barely felt motions at cruise speed.

Pack one's own motion sickness remedies, just in case if prone to it. Safe sailing ... will be tracking the ship & destination over the weekend (will be our turn to sail NCL a few weeks later).

We were onthe Breakaway last year during Hermine with 27 foot seas believe it or not it was not nearly as bad as you would expect. Very bearable and not scary at all. The Breakaway is built to handle seas. We were on rccl anthem in may and nearly got sick in 10 foot seas. Shows how different ships can be

  2. Hi there :) Glad you enjoy the Breakaway! I am going in November but am so concerned I made a mistake booking this ship after reading the reviews. I am 53 and have mobility issues due to spine surgeries, rheumetoid arthritis and nerve damage etc.

I know the ship is HUGE and I am going to have to rent a scooter for when I have to go to the other side of the ship. I can walk short distances.

My concerns are from reading reviews that this ship is kinda "choppy" and areas can be extremely overcrowded and have been warned that it is not the best ship for me to be on with a scooter. I am so stressed about this and the overcrowding it has me sick worrying how I will be able to manage getting around. I read getting into an elevator is going to be difficult and the corridors are extremely narrow. And they say forget getting into a pool. Too crowded.

I would appreciate your opinions, thoughts etc. I am also stressed about what I could possibly do in Nassau. I always wanted to see the grounds in Atlantis but I doubt there is a vehicle that would accomadate a scooter. :( Thanks so much for any info you can give.

One other suggestion for the future if it's affordable consider the haven. We only stay in the haven. I am not a fan of huge crowds There is a private pool, sundeck and dining room and bar. Also Early and private embarkation and debarkation also reserved seating at show. It's Never ever crowded and not as expensive as you would think

I have been on the Breakaway 5 times and love it. I don't find it choppy some areas can get crowded like all ships but I don't think you should worry at all. Also the straw market and a few shops and restaurants are close to the ship in Nassau. I have been to Atlantis and I think youvwould find it manageable also I would ask at guest relations about them finding you a way to Atlantis with your scooter whether by cab or the ferry near the ship. Good luck but rest easy this is an amazing ship and the entire crew is kind and helpful

  4. We just got off the Breakaway on the 10th. Last year we sailed and got caught up in hurricane hermine in the Breakaway. I was very anxious The day before Norwegian messaged us and told us we needed to be at embarkation early because we needed to set sail at 1pm rather than 4. I was watching the radar and was terrified. I was praying they would cancel . Well upon embarkation the captain told us I we were prone to seasickness to take our meds. The first night and next day the wave heights were 27 feet. That being said it wasn't scary and wasn't nearly as bad as I expected It was a bit rocky but not bad enough to make us sick by any means. By midday Monday it diminished and we were in the clear by Tuesday. My whole point is with Norwegian just trust the captain the Breakaway handles rough seas very very well

  5. We are sailing on the Breakaway Sunday and I am starting to get a bit anxious about Irma m.NOAA site and a couple of others show a likelihood of a mid to North Atlantic track. the weather channel is still noncommittal since it's so early We were on the Breakaway last year during Hermine with 27 foot seas. It wasn't pleasant but we survived without being ill. Why do I do this to myself and cruise this time of year. Ug!!!!!

  6. The last 4 cruises we have had 2. Tipped butler and stew 100 conceirge 50-75 depending on how much we asked of him and matre de 50. Waiters 20 and bartender depended on service. This cruise our haven bartenders were awful so we tipped 25. This cruise we had 4 in a family suite. Topped butler 240 s she worked extremely hard for us and stew 150. He did less work than butler

  7. I know tipping is a very personal topic Since we are relatively anonymous here I just wondered when you stay in the haven, who you feel you need to tip and a ballpark of how much you think is a respectable tip. We are just off our 5th haven stay and we tip our butler, cabin steward, concierge, assistant concierge, matre' de. And some of the wait staff. We don't know if that is correct and also if we tip too much, an average amount or not enough. I just wondered how everyone else felt about this

  8. Ok just off the ship and the first two days were a bit rough with 25-27 foot seas. Our daughter was ill the first night but it actually wasn't Neely as bad as expected. Our meds worked well and the captain did a great job of letting everyone know what to expect. The cruise wS fantastic and I'm only sorry I worried so much before we left

  9. Hopefully- you are all comfortable and you can enjoy the final days of your vacation. I am on the Breakaway Sunday and my travel agent thinks they may delay our cruise for a day or two. She has no confirmed knowledge of this but she has seen it happen before. Honestly- I hope so- I do fully understand what can happen this time of year on any cruise . That being said I am not good with rocky seas so I have purchased every seasickness remedy known to man :) Anyhow- current Breakaway passengers stay safe and please keep us posted on how your journey progresses.

  10. Hey All. We are cruising the Breakaway again this weekend 9/4

Though I have cruised many times, the couple of times I have been in storms with high seas haven't been pleasant. I am a bit concerned about all the activity in the Atlantic. Has anyone heard anything? Norwegian says most likely we will miss it all but looking at the weather channel isn't making me feel better

Thanks everyone all of you have been very helpful. We are going either way so I guess there is no use worrying. I am just one of this people Afraid to throw up but on the two prior bad cruises I was nauseous but never got sick we are in the Haven so we are pretty far up. I will park myself in the center of the ship if it does get bad

  12. We just got off our second Bermuda cruise in the Haven of the Breakaway . The cruise was spectacular as expected but we had a very strange experience with a cab. My husband and I normally use a cab on 1 day of every cruise we take. Last Thursday, around noon we grabbed a cab at the end of the pier at the Dockyard in Bermuda. We planned to grab a drink at a bar we go to in Bermuda called Woody's then stop at Horseshoe Bay for pictures and then grab a bite at Elbow beach. Our driver was a local in his 60s who talked about his grandchildren . Everything was fine and we were having a lot of fun until Elbow Beach. When we finished there my husband was in line to grab our kids tee shirts. I had to use the ladies room and told him I would meet him at the cab. When I got back to the cab I got in to wait for my husband, who incidentally is a 6'5 former football player. You would think based on that the cab driver would have remained gentlemanly. He did not. In fact as soon as I got in the cab he jumped into the back seat with me. I was stunned. I immediately jumped over The driver and exited the cab saying I left my camera in the ladies room. We needed to get back to the ship so I asked my husband to refrain from saying anything until we got back. In retrospect we should have called another cab Anyhow when

we got back I told the driver what he did was inappropriate and that we would be dealing with it. I informed my concierge who planned to report the driver the Norwegian. The next morning we spoke to the dispatcher who called the Bermuda Transportation Police. They had me write a statement and assured me that this man will lose his license. Though he never touched me the situation was uncomfortable and inappropriate. I am still shocked

  13. You will love the Breakaway and the Haven My husband and I were on 2 years ago and going back in a week. There are servers on the haven sun deck, bar and restaurant.

We always book our dining in advance. Once you start to book on line your total will be zeroed out before you finalize

We have eaten everywhere and hated Ocean Blue the portions were tiny and not worth the money. Lacucina is fabulous as is Cagneys .

  14. We took the Breakaway to Bermuda last year and stayed in the haven. Much of the Haven staff thought they were going over to the Getaway. We are sailing the getaway in 2 weeks. Does anyone know if Lucky moved to the Getaway and who the haven concierge and bartender are on the getaway please?
