  1. I'm surprised that is how it was in 2013. We sailed on the Wonder in 2012 during Halloween on the Mexican Riviera cruise and there were events on the ship.

We don't have kids, mind you, but we saw: Costumed Characters photo ops, Halloween candy on the ship (the kids trick or treated with a few CMs, but not what I would call a LOT*, but it was there), costume contest and a costume contest for the adults. We had dinner on Halloween and the entire Animator's was full of people in costume. My husband went as a grumpy husband who dislikes Halloween for adults (BUAHAHA see what I did there) and I went as a very stylish witch in my $3 Target witch hat and black dress and pointy Coach boots.

*I am comparing this to the Halloween parties in DCA where you didn't leave without 5 pounds of candy that the CMs would force into your bag.

We didn't sail in 2013 so I am very sorry to hear it wasn't as good as our experience.

  2. We're not foodies AT ALL so we found the food good on DCL. I am a huge dessert-lover and nothing I've ever had has beaten Palo's dessert with the chocolate souffle. I am a huge steak lover so I did really enjoy having the option for steak every single night. And you can order two of something or switch up the sides. This picky-what-she-eats person LOVED being able to avoid onions at all costs.

However, I can't stand bad service. We've not once encountered any on DCL. I think I would have spoken to someone about a server's attitude if it was bad enough for me to notice.

  3. Yes!

We do not have children and we've been on the Wonder three times now. She's such a gorgeous ship and I DID like feeling I could be traveling in another time on her.

We loved Palo. We loved the excursions. I even played bingo. BINGO! Me. That's crazy. There are adult-only areas, and we loved loved loved the spa. Yet, suddenly Pluto would appear and you could play for a bit with him. It was just lovely on each and every cruise we took on the Wonder.

We also enjoyed watching all of the families have a great time with their kids. It made us feel more like a family, even though there is just two of us.

  4. Thank you both SO much. This is all very helpful information. I actually like that it changes with each cruise and location, this way if something seems off, we'll know it really isn't off, just different.

We're still in the planning stages and just can't make up our minds on what to do. I'd love to go to St. John, our friends live there and we haven't seen them in ages. But we also loved Castaway Cay and the ability to go maybe four times in one trip would be a total hoot.

    :)

  5. Hi,

This is my first post here. Hello to everyone. I've only been on three cruises, all with DCL, and ALL on the Wonder. (Two 7-day Mexican, one 4-day Bahamas.)

We're thinking of taking a back-to-back 5-day cruises this September, AGAIN on the Wonder.

I have questions and if you've done a B2B, please share your experiences. Would we be able to stay on the ship between cruises if we have a cabin-level change? Say we go from inside to verandah, for example. Also, should we really just maybe take a 7-day cruise on another Disney ship for the change? Or maybe do a 7-day on one ship, and then maybe a 4-day on another?

    Thank you!
