  1. We are leaving in a couple days to drive to our cruise and just now realized that my 10 year old sons belly has out grown his dress pants.  He needs husky size and I don't have time to get them shipped to me and can't find any locally.  Would a kid be turned away from elegant night wearing a button up shirt and black, dressier shorts (not jeans, not basketball shorts)?

  2. We did an excursion here, about a 50 minute open aired truck ride to a beach and the water was still not Caribbean Blue. It was more the color you'd find on the Pacific Coast, a more brownish color. We still had tons of fun, but not the same water or same sea life you'll find at the other ports.

  3. Went with a group of 6 other rooms and we all had FTTF and didn't get our luggage until after the muster drill, not long before dinner. Went to customer service and they refunded the FTTF but still got to keep all the rest of the perks. I will take the few hours wait to get luggage to get the FTTF free. Still got on board faster, tenders faster and Guest Services faster. The first time we sailed with FTTF our luggage beat us to the room.

  4. Great, thanks for all your thoughts! I would just hate to miss a port because of an engine issue that comes up at the end of 2018 and them not wanting in invest in fixing it that close to when she leaves Carnival. I have heard great things about the Splendor, so I am very excited, just a lot can happen in 18 months before we sail on her.

  5. I'm looking at a Mexican Riviera cruise in Feb 2019 and it looks like the only real option is the Splendor. I have heard the Splendor is leaving Carnival in 2019 sometime. I'm worried that any major issues will just have a bandaid fix by that point because they wouldn't want to invest money in expensive fixes just to drop the ship months later.

Would you sail on her that close to when she retires?

  6. Is it just me? Yesterday I was able to look up two rooms and choose the location, room # ect, today the only option it is giving me is "find rooms near each other". I'm just pricing things out right now so I'm not wanting to talk to a PVP just yet until I can decide what type of rooms we want to go with. I'm looking at the Splendor in Feb 2019 if that matters, but it looks like it's doing this on all cruises that I search this morning.

  7. Rate will be the same. Best not to cancel, keep as a no show. Fill in the information as if he/she was going to avoid penalty fees.

Ok, that's right. I knew there was a big reason to keep them on. She'd be paying the double rate either way plus the cancellation fee, so she'd end up paying more. Thank you!

  8. They do not have insurance and ate booked with early savers on a promo rate that has some obc. The person that is going is planning on paying everything (it's a family trip and they have split up). She knows the single rate is pretty much the same as both of them going, though we booked on a killer rate, similar cabin on the deck below right now is over $500 more. Would she lose that rate?

  9. We have a group sailing in January with 6 cabins together. One of our cabins has 2 booked in it right now but only 1 is going to be able to go now. We are on the Lido deck which is now sold out, if we cancel the extra person will we lose that room and have to move? Should we keep her on and have her do a no show? They aren't excited to pay upfront for taxes, port fees, cheers ect and have to wait for a refund, but I was under the impression if you take them out of the room they could lose their room.

  10. I just did a mock booking for our January cruise and it shows $200 OBC for each of our 2 balcony rooms, but it also shows our rate price jump over $1000 for the 2 rooms! So it seems at least for some of the sailing they sure have increased the price to go along with this promo.

  11. I haven't run into an issue as of yet. If it was an occasional thing, where we both happened to be trying to enjoy our balconies at the same time and once a day or so I had to deal with the smell it wouldn't bother me. If every time I went out to enjoy my balcony I had to smell it I would probably report it. If they were using the E-cigs I wouldn't be bothered by it at all and wouldn't feel the need to report it.

  12. Yes, we just used 2 last week to pay online on our upcoming cruise. One of them went through for the full amount of $100 with no issues, the other one had $200 on it and it would only allow us to put $170 towards the cruise. We called the visa gift card customer service to see why and were told that cruises and a few other services put a hold on 15% for 24 hours for tipping purposes. I'm not sure why the first one went through, but the other $30 remaining was available for use the next day.

  13. We had late dining and was still able to see the adult comedy shows. Our ship didn't have Hasbro or Dive in movies so I can't speak on those. We chose late dining again for our upcoming cruise because we don't want to have to leave ports early to make it to dinner. I'd rather miss a show than cut into port time.

  14. We really enjoyed our day with Tribal Day Sails in February.

Captain Bill took us to a fairly secluded place where we snorkeled with turtles. He gave great snorkeling tips & showed our group of six how to not scare the turtles away.

We have done three day sails in St. Thomas & Tribal has been our favorite. They worked with us to customize our day the way we wanted. One person in our group LOVES turtles so that was our focus.

I can't find a price for them anywhere. We would also have a group of six, do you remember the pricing?

  15. I would have the 6 and 2 share a bed, my 7 year old twins share a twin bed all the time (even though they each have their own), I would think a 6 and 2 year old would fit together just fine. That way you have more space for the crib. If your cabin only fits 2 then the sofa doesn't fold out to a bed and you wouldn't have a bunk either, so you may have to switch cabins anyways, I would look for a triple rather than a quad though.

  16. I have heard that to cruise with your child without both birth parents the other parent needs to give written permission and have it notarized. My son will be 17 at the time of our cruise and we haven't had any contact with his birth dad in over a year, he lives in a different state and he hasn't been present much at all in the last 5+. Getting written permission from him is probably not going to happen purely out of spite on his part. Would our divorce papers showing I have custody work? Has anyone actually been asked to provide this?
