  1. If you have separate bookin refeences I would have thought so? I'd just log in and see if it let me :)

Thats what Iglu said but I'm worried they may link us somehow when we get on the ship and the other couple end up having to pay as well.

I dont want to have to pay their bill as well.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this scenario.

  2. Hope you don't mind me jumping onto this thread but I have a question about the drinks package.

We have booked the Musica through Iglu Cruises. We are going with another couple and I paid for the whole thing (they paid me back).

I'm now wishing we'd booked seperatly because they hardly drink and we like a tipple or two ;)

We'd like to book the Allegressimo, they wouldn't.

We actually have seperate booking references for MSC.

Do you think I could book the package just for us on the MSC website?

Would be great if we could and then they can resort to their rooms and we can carry on drinking :D

  3. I have to say that I was able to pack a change of clothes (and underwear) for everyday of the 15-days, we had an extra day in Beijing and was able to keep my luggage under 40 pounds. I also packed clothes for the evenings, 1 par of heels, two pairs of walking shoes and 1 pair of walking sandals. I used the packing cubes/envelope system to help keep all the clothes contained and less wrinkle. I did travel during the summer, so all the clothing was light weight and usually dry fit, or nylon blend, so nothing was too heavy.

Travellingqueen, I do not have any more pictures of the group at dinner to share, but if you want to take a pick at what your two weeks will be like, send me your email and I will sent you a link to a videogram I made of the trip. Some venues we did in our own, and not through Viking and we had an entrance day in Beijing.

That would be wonderful although I'm not sure how to PM you my email.

  4. Nope just 13 days lol.

When I went to Florida a couple of years ago I took 7 pairs.......thats not a lot compared to some people I know. You have to be prepared for all weathers.

Our latest trip was a cruise and stay in Orlando and Caribbean in February and I froze to death as I took no proper warm clothing other than 2 hoodies and typically it was the coldest weather on record in Orlando.

I'm not having that again. Be prepared I say.

Thinking about it I could have the 2 cases and hubby could have the hand luggage :D

  5. Do bring lite dresses for dinners, they do say not dressy but you don't want to be the only one at the table in shorts or really casual wear. Black Capri pants can be dressed up with your heals. I also used different necklaces to dress up in the evenings.

Heels!!!! OMG I need heels!!! Off to the shops......again ;)

  6. I'm thinking 2 pair of jeans, 2 pair trousers, 2 pair long shorts and as many t shirts and nice tops that I can fit in. As for underwear there'll definitely be more than 4 sets  I don't do skirts or dresses although I do have a black dress that I could take.

Might sneak a pair of denim shorts in just in case it's hot in Shanghai when we get there as it's warmer....apparently.

As for shoes, Go Walks, 1 pair of trainers 2 pair sandals and some ballerinas.

See that doesn't sound too much.....does it?Oh and then there's the knitwear, cardigans a jumper or 2, a coat. I could go on and on lol

  7. We're doing Beijing to Shanghai on 23rd September and I'm just starting to decide what clothes to pack. According to the bbc weather app it's going to be about 25 degrees in Beijing so I wasn't planning on taking any jumpers, coats or boots, mainly summer clothes with maybe one cardigan & a rain Mac just in case

WOW another Brit that's finally doing the trip and hopefully understands my dilemma lol

It's a month later and to be fair I do know that October can be changeable and I think that the problem. All of my students have told me the weather is nice a bit like the UK in the summer on a mild day but one student this week said Beijing can be very windy  Doesn't help cos it's been bloomin cold on some days this summer when I've been picking there brains.

I keep getting visions of Cornwall on a mixed weather week but without being able to take a bootful of clothes in the car :D

  8. We will be on the Shanghai-Beijing trip starting 12 October . We have been following this thread for over a year as we planned the trip. While Viking publishes a very low weight for carry-ons, most reports say it is not strictly enforced. My question is have most of you used a regular roll aboard or an over the shoulder carry bag. Also will they weigh DW's pocketbook? Thanks again to all for the information provided this past year.

Looks like we're on the same trip, :) Can't wait.

Are you like me having nightmares about clothes? Maybe it's just a me thing but I can see I won't have enough room in the cases for Jumpers, cardigans, coats, boots, sandals, summer shorts and tops and so on and so on lol

I need someone to pack for me, any volunteers? :D

  9. We sent the visas to Viking's recommended processor, Generations Visa, on July 10 and received them back today, August 4. Really excited about our trip on Viking Emerald - Shanghai to Beijing starting on October 10. We are leaving a week early to allow for transit and to do some private tours with China Odyssey before and after the Viking "voyage." Figure we may not return, so we want to see as much as possible before hand. Any ideas and thoughts are welcome.

Think we may be on the same cruise. We fly to Shanghai on the 11th October but don't join the Emerald till the 15th. Is this the same one?

  10. St. Maarten....take a taxi or shuttle bus to MAHO BEACH....unbelievable. Go to You Tube and punch in Maho Beach and you will see what I mean. OR...Orient Beach is also fabulous.

Of course for St. Thomas, in port is all of the shopping and the famous Mahogany Bay, which is one of the worlds top ten.

Just jumping on this thread, we're going on this cruise in Feb and would love to go to this beach. Are the taxis expensive?

  11. Joined the forum and booked my first cruise.:D

Haven't a clue if I've done the right thing but too late now.

Hubby wanted to do Orlando and then the Western Caribbean but we had to book the RC Eastern Caribbean cruise.

Was completely a novice and just went go ahead with everything when I was on the phone to Virgin but hey ho in for a pound in for a penny!
