  1. I cruise solo all the time and love it! I have a few solo reviews in my signature you should check out. My most recent one was the Splendor in November. Be social and friendly and you can meet a lot of new people. I definitely recommend late dining. You'll have a better chance of being seated with other solos as a lot of solos don't do early dining and most people that do any time dining request a private table. Book it and have fun!

I have read several of your reviews and they are great. thanks

  2. I've cruised solo on maybe 20 of my 30 odd cruises, and have a 21 day B2B solo planned for Jan/Feb 2016.

It seems to me that the question of cruising solo is basically gender based. Not many men have worried about what response to give when a wait person asks "Just one?" or "Dining alone?"

Most solo men don't have questions about what dining options are "acceptable", we just do what we like, anything from large table in the MDR to dining in our cabin.

Most solo men don't anticipate being "hit upon" while they are doing something solo.

Most solo men don't see themselves as a possible threat to someone else's relationship.

Most solo men couldn't care less about going on an excursion or exploring a port on one's own.

Most solo men don't give a tinker's dam about what other people think of us or what we are wearing or how does my hair look. We're too busy relaxing or having fun.

I truly understand why some women are hesitant to cruise solo, from the safety factor to the unwanted intrusions into me time.

All I can say, is that in this area, I'm glad I'm a guy.

As far as the instances I cite as worrisome for women, read the solo threads in specialized cruising. It's all there, and almost all concerns are posted by women.

Ya I could see where it might be more difficult for a woman. As a man like you said most of those things wouldn't bother me.

  3. I'm a different generation but I quite like traveling solo. While it is fun to cruise with someone else or a group, I wouldn't hesitate to go on my own. You'll make new friends and experience a different sort of freedom.

BTW, my daughter is at SEMO.

Thats cool. I dont actually go to college at semo, but I am from the southeast missouri area. about 10 miles south of cape. I really think the solo cruising would be enjoyable.

  4. Thinking about taking a cruise alone this summer after my 21st birthday in august. Any advice? I have been on two cruises with my family and have enjoyed it very much. I think it would be pretty cool to cruise solo. Thinking about the 9/14/15 or 9/21/15 sailing on ectasy out of miami to key west and cozumel. Miami is a long drive, but the price is good and ive always wanted to see miami. Just curious to hear any info from other solo cruisers. thanks

  5. We will be sailing on the elation this saturday and we are getting very excited. I was looking to see what rooms are left and it looks like there is one ocean view, and 4 grand suites. It seemed odd to me that 4 of the only 28 suites are still unbooked just 4 days away. I am just curious if this is normal? I am also wondering if they normally upgrade people into the suites or if they just leave them empty?

  6. I was wondering if anybody had any pictures of the trundle beds on carnival elation or any of the other ships. We will be sailing for the second time on Carnival Elation on 1/24/15. Last year when my family of three booked we got a room with a king bed and two uppers. However, this year we were only to book a room with a king bed and a trundle bed. I am 6'4" and am kind of nervous about the trundle. I know it will be to short but am hoping i can put a pile of pillows at the end to rest my feet on. Would just like to hear every ones experience with trundle beds. Even if it isn't the most comfortable bed it will be a good trip. I am just so excited to get away again.

  7. Removal of the life jacket boxes would be great. I am also looking forward to a tv upgrade. The tv in our room last year was blurry and the colors were off. Last year we were placed in a room with a king and two upper beds even though there are only three of us. this year we were not allowed to book a room with two uppers with only three people. instead we are booked in a room with a king bed and a trundle bed. I really hope the trundle is semi comfortable. i am wondering if they are adding more trundles during dry dock, because we were not given the option of a trundle bed last year.

  8. On Autoprogreso's website they list the drinking age for ai at Technotel to be 21. Does anyone know why this is? I was just curious since Mexico's "official" drinking age is 18. I will be 20 when we go on our cruise in January and was just curious about this. It seems strange to set the drinking age at 21 when every other restaurant/bar serves to anyone that looks 18.

  9. I would think they would definitely have a plan by this point. I guess they are probably trying to build a little suspense to see what happens to this older ship. The 2.0 upgrades would be great, but im curious to see where they will put them.

  10. The elation is a beautiful ship. Was on it last January, and will be on it again on January 24th 2015. I am excited to see what upgrades they will do. I am hoping for a guys, seaside theater, and water works, but I don't really expect the water works. It looks like the dates are now blocked off from 9/21 to 10/8. That gives them 18 days out of service which seems like quite a bit of time.
