  1. Reply from Carnival Australia on their Facebook page:-

Carnival Cruise Line Australia Hi Louise. It is fair to say we didn’t put our best foot forward on Sunday when we departed from Singapore. While the scheduled upgrades were completed on time, not everything on Carnival Spirit was as ship shape as it should have been for our guests. Our onboard team have been working around the clock to restore the ship to our high standards. We are also focused on taking care of our guests and ensuring they have a great time despite the unexpected challenges the first few days of the cruise. We greatly appreciate their patience whilst we get everything up to scratch.

There were two upgrades that were scheduled to be completed after the Dry Dock. Bonsai Sushi will open by 10 September. The new Camp Ocean space will debut on 25 September as previously announced. As planned, for this itinerary and the next one departing 14th September, the youth programs will continue to run as normal just in different spaces.

We do not anticipate any impact to future cruises.

  2. Just saw this post on Carnival's facebook page:-

"Feed us poor trapped passengers waiting to get off but cannot. So long since breakfast a mutiny is brewing"

It was posted 1 hour ago. Do they have problems getting people off Spirit?

Also saw this reply from Carnival:-

"Hopefully you are on your way home now, as we understand that all passengers were due to be off the ship by 1.30pm. Apologies that you felt there was not an adequate supply of food during the delay. We've spoken to the ship and understand that Lido had pastries and pizza available during the delay time (after breakfast was served), but it is possible you were not made aware of this.

We try our best to avoid any delays with the ship, but in this instance it was due to the need for the ship to return to Noumea to disembark a passenger for a medical emergency.

    We're sorry for inconvenience caused!"

Not sure how this is the reason for the ship circling in Sydney Harbour and being late into dock.

It appears it did not dock until 10am, so being disembarked by 1.30 would appear reasonable given the number of people involved.

Get Travel Insurance people! - these things do happen.

Hope the process of getting the new guests on board goes smoothly for all.

  3. Choosing the cabin I want is important to me - also booking airfares and accommodation early is usually cheaper. Only had one cruise before (P&O Australia) and that price did not go down.

And you could get lucky like me - booked a 7 day with Carnival Australia, that cruise was cancelled and they have put me on a 11 day at no extra cost. Plus they gave me OBC for my trouble. Equivalent cabin to the one I booked is over $1000 dearer.

    I booked 500 days out lol.:D

  4. Hi

I'm booked on a 16/9/15 pacific islands 9 day cruise. I have been advised this is cancelled and replaced by an 11 day cruise starting 14/9/15 due to "spirits's refurbishment schedule "

I am wondering if this means spirit goes into dry dock before my cruise ? Does anyone know ?

The only information I can find is that Spirit is due for dry dock in 2015.

    Cheers
