  1. I can tell you that some items on the menu said they were gluten Free, when we were on the Vision in May.

Shore excursions booked onboard, did not include extra taxes. They were the same price as listed before we got on the ship.

I hope that helps a little.

Thanks A Pisces - that DEFINITELY does help! We will wait to book onboard - and I will check as soon as we can which club they use (with a list of good and bad) and then book provided we are happy with the club. Thanks all for help and suggestions.

  2. hi all

I have sent a few emails to RCCL but they have only bothered to reply to one (regarding Gluten free for my daughter) the rest - go unanswered - for weeks now... We are cruising on Liberty of the Seas - Western MED 3-10 July from Rome

    a) If I book a shore excursion once on-board instead of now before the cruise - do we pay any tax or vat on the amount or is amount we see the amount we pay? I would prefer to pay onboard BUT if it is going to cost me extra - I will do it now!

    b) Still would love to know which beach club they use in Viareggio - but that may just have to be a "surprise"

MY other question was regarding how they get to the total they do for the kids soda package - but I see that there are "extra taxes for certain itineraries and ports" so I am guessing that is why we are being quoted a higher total than expected!

    thanks for your help!

  3. Thanks! I have made private tour reservations in Rome as well as in Capri - and will just taxi to Sagrada Familia in Barcelona; do train ourselves to Monaco (probably leave kids on board for these two) but I didn't (yet) find anything private that would allow the Pisa and beach -but may well just do it ourselves! Do they add the 21% VAT if we book any shore excursions onboard?? I will do some further investigations before deciding on the tour... if it was just hubby and I, it would be EASY to do all the trains etc on our own.....but rushing off and walking too much with a 7 and 8 yr old doesn't always work out!!! looking forward to this trip - just like to be prepared!!

  4. thanks so much for all your information. We are doing this same cruise starting from Rome on 3 July. I just have a couple of other questions -

    a) You mention paying 21% vat on top off all purchases except Food and Beverages - so - does that mean on the duty free shopping etc? Last time (Allure to Caribbean) we got great deals on watches....but adding 21% - maybe not so much!

    b) We have prebooked drinks packages for hubby and I, but not for the kids as I wanted to first see how many sodas they drink and whether it is worth the package or not - do you remember the approximate cost of a soda - and I presume 10% vat plus 15% gratuity is added to that?

    c) I know you did Pisa on your own -but we are looking at doing the Pisa and Beach Shore excursion with RCI - ANY idea which beach club they use? I am battling to get that answer and there are some great reviews of some and some NOT SO GREAT reviews of others!

    d) I have only been able to pre-book the ice show - are all the other shows only available to book once onboard?

    thanks again! HUGE Help!

  5. Hi there, I am trying to find out which beach club Royal Caribbean uses on their shore excursion that goes to Pisa and then to a beach club in Viareggio. I am seeing some good and some bad reviews of the beach clubs on trip advisor - so I would like to know which one they use. I have emailed Royal Caribbean - but so far (3 days later) aside from the confirmation that my email was received, I have not had an answer.....anyone who has done the tour - I would appreciate it!! thanks

  7. Thank you so much MADflyer, that is very helpful information and absolutely, I don't feel the saving is worth the hassle of our own arrangements or the possibility of something going wrong! I appreciate your time and effort in your reply!

  8. Hi there, we will have a day in Villefranche during our cruise on Liberty of the Seas 3-10 July. We are keen to take the train to Monaco to walk around a bit and see the palace etc. is the Palace in easy walking distance from where the train stop is, and presume there is just one Monaco stop? Thanks!

  9. Hi there, we will be on Liberty of the seas 3-10 July with one of the stops being La Spezia. RCI has a shore excursion that includes a drive to Pisa to enjoy views of the Leaning tower (doesn't include climbing) and then being taken to Viareggio to a beach club for 4 hours including a sunbed and umbrella. This is US$99 per adult and US$82 per child - so will cost us close to US$400. Would this be something that we could easily do ourselves at a significant saving or are the beach clubs "contracted" to the cruise lines? Look forward to your help and opinions.
