I’m currently on board QM2 and the food is outstanding. Portions are good-sized and everything I’ve ordered over the last week has been excellent.

We're scheduled to embark on the QM2 September 1st from Brooklyn to Quebec City and today I discovered my pair of velvet trousers are too long and need alteration. I don't have time to do it locally because it takes a week and we're leaving for NYC in just a matter of days. Will I be able to have this done on the ship? And does anyone know what the turnaround time might be for a simple hemming? Many thanks!

I agrre you can take some ziplock bags and go to the buffet the night before, or order some sandwiches from room service in the evening , then some pastries at breakfast time.
However once I've been on the ship a few days, missing the odd lunch is no problem .
Just buy a bottle of bubbly in the port duty free, and find a nice spot in the sun .
LOL! I might not be able to find my way back to the ship!

Just wondering if box lunches are available from the QM2 for port visits. We're thinking of doing some hiking and would like to have a picnic in Corner Brook when we dock there in a few weeks.

Thank you for the information, one and all.

Thanks, Cruise NH! Do you know if arrangements can be made while on the ship, or does this have to be pre-ordered?

When we sailed on the QM2 a few years ago you could use a service onboard (White Star?) that would send your luggage back to your home. I heard that this service was discontinued and I'm wondering if it's been replaced with another company. Thanks for any of your suggestions!

I just returned from a Baltic cruise on QV in Queens Grill. We did tip at dinner, but, only to those who delivered exceptional service. We did not like our first table, so they completely re-arranged part of the dining room so we had a beautiful round table facing the windows. Tip for the Matre ' d. One of our Head Waiters went way above and beyond to assure we had a great dining experience every day. Tip for them. Our Wine Steward worked with us to keep our wine within the $12 limit of our drink package. We had some amazing wines because of him. Tip for him. We also left the auto gratuity in place. Yes, we are American, and I believe that excellent service demands some appreciation. I will continue to believe that, whether in Queens Grill or not.
I think I will dub thee, "A Beautiful American." They DO exist.

Sailing on the QM2 and wondering what decaf teas are available, especially black teas. Can't stand the fruity ones, but love a good English Breakfast or Earl Grey. Also, can a decaf tea be requested at afternoon tea in the Queen's Ballroom?
Thanks!

Is there a charge for these transfers? Does anyone know how much, if any?

Thanks, Tonopah. We're in Santa Barbara, California, so anything 75 IS quite chilly for us. Guess I should leave the heavy wool sweaters and long johns at home, then.

We will be sailing from Brooklyn on September 1st, and I'm guessing the weather will be HOT. However, we will then be heading north (Bar Harbor, Corner Brook, Sept. Iles) on a cruise to Quebec City. Will the weather cool down quite a bit and will we be needing warm clothing? Thanks!

Dial 7 seems to be getting the most votes here, but lodge172, your last story about them makes me a little nervous. You also called the car a “taxi?” Is Dial7 a taxi company, without SUVS or Town Cars?

We're looking for a car service in NYC that we can use for airport pick-up (JFK), and to transport us to the Brooklyn port a few days later. Any suggestions of good companies that are reasonably priced, on time, and who have clean cars? Many thanks!

We're sailing on the September 1st voyage to Quebec City with a friend of ours who has never sailed Cunard before. We don't want her to miss the ship sailing under the Verrazano Bridge; however, we have a 6pm seating in the MDR. Other than King's Court, will there be any other dining venues available for dinner? Will a Specialty restaurant be open? Thanks!
-
Thanks! I will definitely research all of them...

Thanks for this information. I bought one of the albums of Le Vent du Nord and I'm loving it. Will probably buy more.

Thanks, Bigmike911, for that info about The Verandah. And Underwatr, do you remember which specialty restaurant was open? Just the one in King's Court?

Traveling from Quebec City to Montreal, spending the night, and then going from Montreal to Kingston. We've done train travel before, but we've been thinking about using a car service. I'm a recovering agoraphobic, and traveling can be doubly exhausting for me. New places, so many people. I love traveling on the QM2 because I'm been on her before, so she's like an old friend. But getting around Canada is more challenging.

Are the specialty restaurants open for dinner on the first night of embarkation? Thanks!

We're going on the NYC-Quebec City QM2 cruise in September, 2019, and would like to use one company for town car service (going to the ship, traveling between cities in Canada). Can anyone recommend a good company that is located in the U.S. and Canada? Or a good company for NYC, and another one for Canada? Many thanks in advance!

Thanks so much! French Canadian group, then? I'm looking for music to listen to on our cruise to Quebec City in September.
Mattresses on the QM2
in Cunard Line
Posted
Just returned from another journey on the magnificent QM2 (NYC - Quebec City) and once again slept like a baby. I have back issues, but whenever I'm on the QM2 I never have problems with my back, or sleeping through the night. Does anyone know what mattresses are on the QM2? Thought I might like to purchase one for on land sleeping. Thanks for any information!
