  1. Have booked on Splendour for late this year and now want to move to a different date which suits other family members. Booked a cheap rate direct with Carnival Australia with a $150pp deposit. Online it looks like the only option is to cancel and lose the deposit - are there any alternatives? I'm a bit surprised I can't pay a change fee + fare difference like on a airfare.

I see a couple of Australian online TAs state for Carnival cruises: "You are entitled to "one free change" to a different cruise under the following terms: 121 days or more prior to departure One free change to a different Carnival Cruise departing from Australia."

My departure is more than 120 days out, would Carnival offer this for bookings made directly with them?

  2. You would do a password recovery from the login screen.

When I go to recover my password it says 'insert your username' and then my secret question and answer. I have neither of these, and if I try inserting my email it says 'Your username is not valid. Please enter a valid username.'

    What should I do now?

  3. I got an email today matching me to Silver. The attachment includes my MSC number. However, I have no idea how I am meant to log in on the MSC website and see my new status, as I don't have a password or anything. Can anyone help?

  4. The usual warning when buying shares should go in here, yes you may make 5% return from the shareholder benefit, but you may also lose much of the capital if the share price goes down.

Carnival (and all the cruise lines) jumped up over a pound per share when Obama announced a reduction in sanction against Cuba. The shares may go up still further once the lines starting Cuba on their Caribbean itineraries, but may go down in the short term.

  5. Sent my shareholder details by fax to Costa and had a reply back by email the next day. More efficient than Cunard!

Of course I will take a copy of the email with me.

Is there any way to check your on board account during the cruise via the TV as on MSC?

  6.

Great stuff! Yes as I said, the majority are not chargeable.

Indeed the only chargeable ports I see (although no doubt subject to change) are:

    ALEXANDRIA

    ALICANTE

    ALMERIA

    BARCELONA

    CHERBOURG

    DARWIN

    DUBLIN

    DUBROVNIK

    DUNEDIN

    GDYNIA

    HAMBURG

    HELSINKI

    HONFLEUR

    HONG KONG

    HONOLULU

    IBIZA

    KLAIPEDA

    LA PALMA

    LANGKAWI

    LANZAROTE

    LE HARVE (PARIS)

    LIMASSOL

    LISBON

    LOS ANGELES

    MADEIRA

    MALAGA

    MARSEILLE

    MAURITIUS

    MYKONOS

    ODESSA

    PALMA (MAllORCA)

    PENANG

    PORT EVERGLADES

    PORTIMAO

    PRAIA DA ROCHA

    SAN DIEGO

    SORRENTO

    ST VINCENT

    STOCKHOLM

    TALLINN

    TRONDHEIM

    VALENCIA

    WELLINGTON

    WHITSUNDAY ISL.

    VALENCIA

Many of these are only on world voyages anyhow.

  7. Please tell me if you have any problem. You have the right to buy any product from any EU company, so I guess it would be illegal for MSC to stop you. That's what I have been told by many TA.

The problem here is that MSC clearly bans that practice. You cannot buy a cruise from another country in their webpage, so I guess you did that through a TA.

The only thing you should consider is that you will have to accept the terms and conditions from the country you are buying the cruise from. Spanish consumer laws are quite similar to the ones in the UK I believe, you can lose the deposit in a worse case scenario.

Thanks for your interest. You are right, I booked through a major Spanish OTA, even though I can also see the fare on the MSC Spanish site.

I am not expecting any issues regarding booking in a different market, nor am I too worried about terms and conditions as the cruise is next month so my circumstances should not change.

My main concern is that balconies cheaper than insides is an error (although that said, if I try to book on the UK, it says all categories other than insides are sold out)

When do MSC e-tickets get issued, given that it is six weeks before departure?

  8. Hi fantasy,

I might be wrong but I have a feeling it was about 8 or 9$ each way. It was not charged at every port. Only 2 or 3 of the ports we visited out of 7. One of the ports was such a ridiculously short journey it was annoying, but for the others it seemed reasonable, even cheap. I seem to remember it was only charged on the first out and return. If you went out again I think it was free. We were not charged, having paid the Cunard fare on this occasion, so I am trying to remember what others were saying and what I read.

There is a link hidden deep on the Cunard website (cannot find it at the moment) which specifies the shuttle bus arrangements for all their ports. As has been noted, in many places the city or port authority pay for the bus. If you can find the link, it specifies the ports which are chargeable; happily, there are fewer than you would think!

  9. Found 6 nights on Splendida departing Genoa December 14th for 248EUR travelling solo. This was on a Spanish website, so I have booked online using a mixture of google translate and my schoolboy Spanish.

The most notable thing here is that it was quoting balconies cheaper than interiors; do you think this is a website mistake, or will MSC honour it? I have already paid online and received email confirmation from the online TA, but I am half expecting an anxious Spaniard ringing me in the next few days!
