Thanks, more good points to consider. The cruise is next January on Sky Princess scheduled to dock at 6:00 am on Sat Jan 20th. The primary reason the flight is so desirable is because it’s the only non stop to our home. How do I check on ships in port?
We will find out departure deck and other info for early departure on board.

Thank you all for your excellent responses, yes we do have tsa precheck which will help. We will however have bags to check. Also we are retired and don’t have time commitment to be home so alternate plans can be made. Thanks again.

Thanks cap, if we do this we certainly will have a plan B.

Can I feel comfortable booking a 10:15 am flight time out of Ft Lauderdale upon completion of a Princess cruise? I think they have an early departure carrying luggage option. Thank you.

Thank you for your review. What is the difference among cockleshell , Mundos, and reggae beach?

Not really, per se. There are a few non-AI resorts that offer "day passes" that include a day room of available such as Bay Gardens Beach Resort or Royal by Rex. Or Coco Palm, etc.... Some don't include their pool, just lounge chairs, lunch and day room, etc. Best to check directly with property as each one varies.. No beach clubs with pools and such on the island. Pools are associated to hotels, and each hotel has their own rules on who can use them....
Thank you, reedprincess

Are there any beach clubs that charge a nonimal fee for use of facilities and a pool with food and drink available for purchase? Not looking for AI.

So are they in the back or to the side. I'm confused.[
Cabanas are at the back of the beach area, located on the sides of several lines of loungers. Thus they have clear access to the water's edge. Also, they are only a short distance in front of the restaurant, bar, and pool.

We are family of 12, wife & me (grandparents), 7 young adults (4 children, 3 spouses ), 3 grandkids (girl 14, boy 12, boy 8). We were in 5 balcony cabins on deck 7, ( 2 hump, 3 larger cabins). Overall we had an excellent cruise, with great activities for all ages. In comparison to Princess, our previous cruise experiences, Royal Caribbean offers much more for families. The grand kids loved the various activities for the different age groups. Most of young adults had beverage packages, and all got their money's worth.
We had my time dining with reserved time (5:45) for two tables of 6 next to each other, which we used most nights. The food was very good ( quality & variety), and the service was excellent. In comparison, Princess was comparable in both quality and service. We went to the steak house 1 night, and were very pleased, although Princess was better with their choice of steaks (ribeye, porterhouse , filet and sirloin) . Although not a valid comparison because only 2 of us sailed on Princess, we were able to use anytime dining with no reservations and show up anytime and fit in with shared tables.
The buffet areas were comparable in quality, variety and service. However, Princess was far superior with their continuos open hours from 5:00 am to midnight, as compared to RCCL selected hours . Also , Princess had self serve water, ice tea, and coffee stations open 24 hours on the buffet deck, which we highly recommend on RCCL. We would also recommend Royal have a grill and pizza available on the pool deck.
We felt entertainment was fairly comparable, but the ice show was excellent.
In summary, our Freedom cruise was excellent for our family.

We were at Paradise Beach last fri, August 7, and had a great experience. Family of 7 including 3 grand kids who enjoyed the water toys very much ( $15 each). Loungers in sun or shade, easy access to beach and large pool, excellent food & drink service. Agree with above prices, $3 admission, no chair or umbrella fees, $10 each food & drink requested. They do offer massages.

Beach Cabanas are off to the side in their own area. They have 4 chairs & a table under the cabana and then 4 loungers out in the sun. In order to get to the water you do have to walk a few yards but nothing major! Music is very loud at the beach, so I can only imagine what it's like near the pool!
Just off Freedom of the Seas and were at Royal Palms last Thursday, August 6; agree with all above, beach cabana was great with excellent service. Cabanas are in last row of beach with easy walk to water or back to pool. Music was loud at pool but not a problem. Would do it again.

I'm at country inn in PC, and woke up in middle of the night and saw freedom in port at 2:50; didn't think they arrived that early.

Thanks Bob

Does anyone know what the formal nights are on FOS western itinerary ?

Does anyone know if the chairs and tables usually get filled up on the Paygo side at Mr. Sanchos? We're looking into that option instead of the AI but wasn't sure if they fill up quickly or not? Anyone been there and not get chairs/tables b/c it was too crowded?
We're looking for the same info. Will be docking fri aug 7th at 10:00 am with two ships in port. Just want beach and pool access with chairs & umbrellas on paygo side. We are family with 4 adults & 3 children.

Thanks everyone for your responses. We'll try self disembarkation, and hope for the best. Our flight choices are limited.
-
That time would be OK with me if I did self-assist disembarkation or had a fairly low luggage tag number. You would want to be outside the terminal by about 8:30am to give yourself some leeway in case of delay, or long lines at security.
Thank, clarea
