PR 705 is the cabin.

I actually only had their booking number to help them out from here. I will email them and ask the cabin number. I am a great fan of cc and sharing info!! I do know when they booked this particular cabin it did have the statement about the balcony NOT being accessible. She she called and was told it was just not accessible on the day of the canal (you get a place in the sanctuary for free that day!)
I will report back tomorrow with the cabin number.

FYI - issue was resolved today, they received an agreed upon amount of OBC for the 6 days my brother could not use the balcony and the door “stops” on the edges of the door will be removed tomorrow.

Thanks for your responses, should have explained that it was confirmed with Princess that their cabin was accessible to the balcony .. just not on the day through the Panama Canal.
Just really looking for any other phone numbers to call.
Thanks

Hello,
My brother and sister in law are currently on the Island Princess and to their surprise the balcony is not accessible in their handicapped room. The sliding door is about 1 inch too small (rubber stops on door) for my brother to get his wheelchair out the door! They have gone to everyone in authority on the ship and get “sorry” no other cabins. I tried calling Princess for them and got “sorry” contact Access Dept. .. no phone number just an email that says “thank you for your email, will get back to you within 10 days.” We are calling it the NO-Access Dept! Anyone have an secret phone numbers to get a person at Princess? (2 days ago 5 maintenance men showed up and looked at the door and said “oh, that’s not right” disappeared and never returned!)

Just got off Caribbean Princess and had a coffee card with nothing on the back (traded mini bar for coffee cards) and he asked to see my card. He wrote the ship name and voyage number on the back .. no expiration date.

Debr, what a great thrill to have the new beds and bedding plus the new tv's. Awesome. Have a great day
Yes, after years of flat pillows and egg crate mattress pads, it was delightful!

Thanks for the update. some people on this thread said they saw new mattresses being put on during their cruise. I assume it is an ongoing process. I think the next drydock is May 2019
Just off the Caribbean Princess and we had new beds and pillows that were wonderful (Rivera Deck). We saw the old mattresses in large containers on the dock. We also got new TV’s during the cruise with on demand movies. We had a great cruise, only complaint was wait time in Anytime Dining and getting into shows .. needed to be there way too early to get a seat. Only went a couple times.

Yes, but also a Sapphire resort and beach on STM and the poster was likely referring to it by the resort. It wouldn't surprise me if there are many "Sapphire" beaches around the world.
Thanks for the clarification.

We were there on Dec. 14 th and while there was a lot of visible damage we went to Sapphire beach and downtown and it was fine.

I believe Sapphire Beach is on St. Thomas.

Then I wouldn't worry about he trying to get you to pay the full amount. You never signed anything and assume you would be paying the difference in cash and in person. Can't get that if you don't show up nor can he charge your cc. I'd even call my cc to be sure nothing is charged before leaving. Did you read everything in the info that he sent you when paying your deposit in regards to losing the deposit? I don't recall reading that myself. He's desperate for business since losing months of it but honestly this is not the way to go on his part. He know all about Cruise Critic and that we all share the good, the bad, and the ugly..... Hope things work out for you.
Yes, read the cancellation policy when we reserved back in August and assumed we would only lose deposit if we cancelled within 30 days. We are just fine with that. Since this is now not what we signed up for and he isn't reducing his price, that is why we have cancelled.
It's unfortunate he wasn't upfront with folks on the true situation, but he is running a business and I wish him well.

Did you already pay in full?
No, we paid just a deposit via pay pal, $49 for the 2.

1. About 5-10 min at most and we saw one plane that probably held 70 people. Not big but not a mosquito either.
2. There was a total of 14 people that includes 3 middle school age kids.
3. Yes, storage was available to store things from getting wet.
4. We used our own snorkel gear but the stuff that they had was in decent shape..
5. Yes, they had bottled water, soda, and cheap beer - Presidente
You might want to bring water shoes if your want to really mingle around on Pinel Island. You need to be careful of nails, glass, and sharp objects mixed in with the sand off the beaten paths.
We made the decision to cancel with Capt. Bob and just do our own thing. I assumed we would just be out our deposit. He emailed and said we would owe the full amount because its less than 30 days. Thought the 30 days referred to the deposit. Need to assess our rights!

Yes, you do need your ID for the local stands as that are is beyond the Princess Cays gates. It is right outside the gates. There is a security guard at the gates at all times to check for ID's and cruise card.
That's how it was a couple years ago, so nothing as changed. Thanks!

Do you still need your ID (in addition to cruise card) to go into the area where locals sell their items?
Thank you

I just started using Uber this year and it actually worked out well, though still makes me nervous lol, so I get where you're coming from. When getting picked up at POM last month realized there is a place in the app to add note to give further details such as description of clothing you're wearing. Can be a madhouse of people so my big concern was the car finding us and vice versa. The drivers' often text when on the way so there can be an opportunity to exchange info like that. It actually does work out quite well.
That’s a good tip about what you are wearing. I know my travel buddy isn’t going to want to use her credit card, can you pay with cash?

You can use my code: johnb13999ue
Uber is easy and the wait at POM is usually under 5 min; UberX will fit your party and bags and the fare to FLL should be about $35. The ride takes about 40-50 min.
If an old dinosaur like me can figure out Uber and Lyft you can do it -- there are lots of You Tube videos showing your the set up process -- have a great cruise!
Like your "old Dinosaur" comment! Never used Uber, but considering it in a couple weeks. Will need to get from Ft. L. Airport to a hotel on N. Federal Way and it looks like Uber would be less expensive. My cruise buddy has the smart phone, so I'm doing the research for her. I've seen some posts that you can pay cash rather than credit card, is that true? I know she would prefer that to giving a card.
Thanks

Well, he's at least now being upfront most likely knowing the cat would get out of the bag and be shared with others. We too, had no choice once we got there and decided to let it go and make the most of it. You'll have a good time. They should change the beer choice - cheap beer = headache later in the day.
If we decide to go, would you mind answering a few questions ..
1. Did you stay at Maho airport long and did you see any planes?
2. How many were on your boat and was it uncomfortably tight?
3. Is there a place for stuff .. Camera, so it's not wet?
4. Was snorkeling equipment in good shape?
5. Do they carry water in addition to beer?
Any other details would be appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

I am considering emailing Captain Bob to tell him the feedback he is getting on Cruise Critic and he should consider changing his price for the difference in lunch. I just don't know if it's worth it at this point.
Once a few years ago I needed to cancel a private excursion within a week of the cruise and the vendor gave me a hard time until I mentioned Cruise Critic.
I just sent an email to him and asked what changes there would be to our tour post hurricane. This the response.
“Everything will be the same as what was described in my original description except the lunch.
Until we establish a rebuilt restaurant, we will be having sandwiches served on the boat probably at Pinel Island.or along the way depending on the conditions.
We are back in business”
One of the reasons we were willing to pay a high price for this tour was because of the unique lunch experience. Since there is no reduction in price I guess we go and consider our $120 towards rebuilding or we don’t go and donate our deposit.

According to taxi fare finder (https://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=Fort-Lauderdale-FL&lang=en), which seems a little low (by about $10 when I use my own address), the airport to the hotel should be around $42 and from the hotel to Port Everglades should be around $33. Of course those fares will be dependent upon traffic. Uber or Lyft would be cheaper.
Thank you! No experience with Uber or Lyft, so probably stick with a taxi. Thank you for the link.

Can anyone give me an approximate cost for a taxi from the Ft. Lauderdale Airport to the LaQuinta on Federal Way (5727 North Federal). Also La Quinta to Port Everglades.
Thank you

Yes another tour operator but he won't tell you that. He hires them hence: a boat broker. If he owns any boat personally, it would be one or two at most. He's got a great gig going and we've done Billy Bones out of Simpson Bay. They drove their boat over to Chesterdields, Bob did the $$$ end of it and we all boarded the speed boat owned by Billy Bones. He just doesn't tell you that. It's fine really. Pinel was wiped out!!! The left side restaurant is s-l-o-w-l-y coming back. Only a handful of chairs and that's it. Yes, just a baguette sandwich, no chips, fruit, or vegetables. They did have individual cheesecake but didn't try it. Concerned about refrigeration on my part. Snorkeling was ok - good - that's it.[/quote
Oh, and a $50 tip $30 to Al and $20 to his assistant :p
Rethinking our day. Were there vendors at the pier area.. local crafts, etc.? Enough to occupy you for a while?
