  1. To do something different try Tabaco Bay near St. Georges, nice beach good snorkling and water as warm as your bath tub, never crowded, plus snacks and chair rental place.

    I thought that Tobacco Bay was dirty. There was quite a bit of litter floating around. The area around the bay is interesting.

     

    We went to John Smith's Bay Park which has a nice beach that isn't crowded. It has facilities and lifeguards. There are little alcoves that you can hang out in.

     

    I would also recommend Spittal Pond (not for swimming). Parts of the park look like it could have been used as a set in a '60s Star Trek episode.

     

    As for the ship, you should book Indulgence. The pool grill is as good as people say. Get room service breakfast while in Bermuda.

  2. They offer Strongbow, which is a Cider. I don't have any reason to think they would have used and wheat or barley to make it.

     

    They carry Dogfish Head, but it's probably their 60-Minute IPA. If they have a variety of DFH beer, they may have Tweason Ale. Other than that, gluten-free beer is fairly obscure. You might find it at a bar that prides itself on a wide variety of beers (too many beers to sample try one sitting), but I doubt cruise ships are planning on going crazy with the craft beers. For one, craft beer usually weighs 10-20% more than light lagers. Beer has a shorter shelf life than wine. The high alcohol content in wine helps to prevent spoilage. Kegs are higher maintenance than bottled wine. You have to clean faucets and couplers, and replace lines. You also need CO2. For some beers, you may need nitrogen. If you're going to serve cask ale, you need a beer engine (and someone skilled at serving cask ale, as the beer needs some care). If you serve beers with different carbonation, you need better regulators.

    Thanks. For the most part, I am eating low carb. I'm not terribly strict about it. But if I do eat carbs, I find myself craving them for the remainder of the day. Rather than fight my self control when it comes to more carbs (which gets weaker throughout the day), I avoid them for as long as I can. This gives me less of a window to eat them.

    I've also decided not to deprive myself of some of the summer foods that I really enjoy, such as Jersey Corn and watermelon. I also gauge whether I should be more diligent by my weight. If what I'm doing is working, I don't stress out. If it isn't, I'll be extra careful for a few days. I'll also skip weighing myself for a day or two.

     

    As for pasta, I substitute broccoli. I've cooked spaghetti squash, but I usually have broccoli on hand.

  4. I've been doing intermittent fasting for about a month and a half and I've lost about 25lbs. On workdays, I skip breakfast and lunch and usually eat once a day, which is roughly every 20-24 hours. My meals almost always are two-course. First, I load up on sauteed vegetables and then I have some meat. On the weekends, I'm less disciplined, but I tend to skip breakfast and delay lunch, continuing to prioritize vegetables over meats over fats over carbs. I've also eschewed beer. I'm barely exercising and I'm probably as lazy as before I started. I think this is a lot easier than watching what I eat.

  5. They have 3 Beers from Alaska Brewing, DFH (60-Minute?), Rogue Dead Guy, Ommegang Abby, La Fin Du Monde, Fullers London Pride, Leffe Blonde, SNPA. I believe I've seen Chimay on their menus. They also have a weizen, but I don't believe that it is craft. They have Sam Adams; I'm assuming it's Boston Lager. They have a variety of light and premium lagers. Most of those are on the premium package listing (not Chimay).

    It's about 3 miles. It's a little longer if you take the railway. It's not like it's 30 miles away.

  7. I'm going on this cruise when OP gets back. I plan on bringing two polo shirts, two quick-dry shirts, two t-shirts, 1 pair of jeans, one pair of quick-dry pants, 1 pair of cargo shorts, 2 bathing suits. Other things I'm packing to wear only once. If I'm worried about anything getting too dirty to wear, I can wash clothes in the sink or shower. I'm not bringing formalwear.

     

    There are a lot of negative feelings toward the Summit. They seem nitpicky.

     

    You can cold brew coffee in your room fairly easily.

  8. My wife is trying to convince my sister-in-law to go on a cruise with us. We are currently booked in AQ on the Summit. I've emailed Celebrity about this, although I don't know how long it will take to respond.

     

    Would a traveling trio have to pay the double occupancy rate plus port fees and gratuities per person, or does Celebrity usually charge a rate for each person in the stateroom?

  9. There is a picture of the new menu from this post by Viva_la_Vida in her excellent Summit review.

     

    Hopefully somebody else takes a picture. While she regrets such a blurry picture, she missed the opportunity to blame it on the premium package upgrade.

  10. Thanks for the review. Summit has always been one of our fav ships; glad to hear in two recent reviews that "all is well":)

     

    I'm sailing on the Summit in August, so it's good to hear positive opinions. I take nitpicky comments with a grain of salt, anyway.

  11. Check out the Cloisters. It's a castle in NYC. You can get a pretty scenic view walking there from Times Square. Head up 7th into Central Park. Continue north through the park to 110th Street. Head west on 110th to Morningside Park. Take Morningside to 127th. Head east to St. Nick's. Head north for a bit and work your way to the east bank of the Hudson River. Head north until you reach the cloisters.
