Just found out there may be hope on the airfare.  I checked to see if our flights were still on and lo and behold our flight from here to Amsterdam has been cancelled.  Flight back from Amsterdam is still showing.  Airline never notified me of the cancellation.  According to the 4/3 notification from the DOT we can get a refund (in the form of original payment) NOT a voucher since the airline cancelled the flight.  We'll see what hoops I have to go through to get a refund.

Followup.  Called Delta refund phone number on Wed. afternoon.  Lovely lady named Victoria processed by refund in less that 10 min. & immediately emailed confirmation of the refund.  She said, however, that it may take up to 2 billing cycles for my credit card to post the refund.  Lo and behold, my credit card posted the refund later that same afternoon.

Hopefully, when Royal cancels the cruise getting my refund will be just as easy.

We are so sorry you're facing that about the airfare. All we can do now is hope they cancel our cruise, but they will try sweet talking all of us into their shell game called Future Cruise Credit....no, they can keep their extra 25%.....just give us our money back....all of it, including our deposit. If they don't, I'll be contacting the Federal Trade Commission.

Right on, we will just wait for them to give us our full refund. We haven't even yet purchased air fare but if we do, we will only book it through the cruise line.

We're going to wait for them to cancel it as well.  Unfortunately we already purchased our airfare on KLM/Delta and will probably lose it.  I don't think we'll be able to use the airline credit before it runs out.

Would it be possible to visit the metro and those with mobility issues (if any) remain on the bus?

Sadly no, not with TJ Tour.  This was their response when I inquired about the metro.

Subway visit is not included in this tour as it is suitable for wheelchair users and our metro is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Kindly note that Relaxed tour didn't include metro visit neither. However, if all the members of your group are able to stand up/walk short distances and also would like to visit metro, it can be added during the tour.

  5. TJ Travel came highly recommended to us from some cruisers on our last cruise.

We have been in contact with TJ Travel about a more slow paced tour of St. Petersburg.  We were disappointed that they have discontinued their 2 day relaxed tour and are now suggesting their 2 day standard tour.  This tour does not go to St. Catherine's Palace (Amber Room) nor does it do a little metro ride to see the beautiful subway.  They gave us a lengthy reason for not doing St. Catherine"s Palace which boiled down to lack of organization at this site.  They would do the metro if all on the tour agreed to do it but since there is no wheelchair access it might not be possible if there were wheelchair or scooter users on the tour.

    ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING TRAVELS

    Dear Guest,

    Well, this round’s on us.

On Monday, July 1st, 2019, from 4:00 PM to 1:30 AM EST, we posted incorrect pricing of $18 USD per person, per day, for Deluxe Beverage Packages. Given that we typically price these packages at about $55 USD per person, per day, it was the (messed up) deal of the century.

This was a BIG mistake! It might have been bad code, a random computer glitch — or maybe we just need to reinstate our intern typing test.

Any which way, it was our error, and we’ll own it. Enjoy your deep, deep discount — while we go drown our sorrows.

    Happy 4th of July!

    Sincerely,

    Image did not load.

No idea why, but I didn't get an email.  However, the drink package is still in my cruise planner.  If I get to keep it, great.  If they cancel it, so be it.  If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.

  7. We are cruising on October 18, 2019, arriving at London Heathrow on October 17.  We are trying to choose a good hotel in Southampton, preferably with a shuttle to the cruise ship.  We are currently considering: Southampton West Quay, Holiday Inn Southampton, and Jurys Inn Southampton.  Any suggestions as to which would be the best choice for ease of getting to the port terminal?  I know we could always take a cab but would prefer a shuttle if possible.

  8. We use mybesttours.com.  They are golf cart tours with a driver/tour guide.  Excellent, excellent, excellent!!!!  We used them for 3 days last October and are using them again next month for a day post cruise.  They have regular itineraries and also can tailor the tour to what you want to do.  The golf carts can really get around the city, going through alleys and little piazzas that you wouldn't normally get to see.

    Hi all

Getting cross eyed trying to figure out hotels for post cruise in Venice. I have a few to ask about and wondering if anyone has stayed at these and what you thought of them.

Also open to any others that you would suggest...Criteria is location to sights we can walk to easily, clean and safe, good AC as will be there in July, Close to Vaperetto stop for dragging luggage.  Looking at...excuse spelling please

    Star Hotels Splendid

    Sovoia and Jolanda

    NH Collection Venezia Palazzo Barrocci

    Hotel Monaco

    Ca dei Conti

    Ca de Dogi

    Sina Palazzo Sant Angelo

    Ca Segrado

    Thanks in advance!

Highly recommend Savoia and Jolanda.  We stayed there last October and would stay there in a heartbeat if we were in Venice again.  Right at the vaparetto stop.  Just walk off the taxi, across the square to the hotel.  Beautiful room, wonderful staff, & delicious breakfast.

  10. Sailing on the Oasis on Sunday and it occurred to me that we have to give our sea pass cards to the bartenders to scan.  Even if they are wearing gloves that only protects them.  They can still pass the virus onto the card.  We can be so careful about what we touch and washing our hands but these cards are a concern.  Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

  11. Forgive me if I'm on the wrong board but I'm fairly new at this. We just booked cabin 11582 on the Oasis and cabin 8588 on the Jewel. There wasn't much choice left in cabins and I'm concerned they may be obstructed view given they were so few cabins available in 2D class. Where can I find this information? Also, where can I find out if the bed is by the balcony in these cabins? Thanks for any help and forgive me if I'm in the wrong place.

  12. We'll be in St. Thomas in Jan., docked from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and would like to see the island and do a little shopping. Has anyone done the Brenda & Franko tours? Reviews on TripAdvisor seem quite good. None of the shore excursions from the cruise line seemed to have what we want but I'm not sure about booking an independent one.

    Thanks.

  13. I can't recall at the moment as I read so many. Do you think the size of the ship matters? We will be on Radiance.

It happened to us on the Radiance, July 2014, on Alaskan cruise. Also, twice when we tried to make reservations in the morning for that evening we were told there were no times available.

  14. Looking for 2 nights pre-cruise in January. Flying to FLL on Friday so we'll have all day Saturday before the cruise to relax and see some sights. We're looking for a hotel with easy access to shopping, water taxi and restaurants, preferabley withing easy walking distance. We've narrowed it down to Hilton Marina, Gallery One Doubletree, and Embassy Suites. Recent reviews for the Hilton Marina have not been that great so not really sure if that should even be in the mix. Any thoughts? We've never been to FLL so have no clue about the area. TIA for any assistance you can give.

Sorry, this should have been a new thread Didn't mean to hijack this thread.

  16. We are looking at these same 2 hotels for two nights pre-cruise in January. There's only a $22 price difference for the two days. Which has more things to do/see withing walking distance? Which of these two is closer to the water taxi? We thought of doing that the day before our cruise. Thanks for helping us narrow down our choices. We also looked at the Hilton Beach Resort and Hyatt Place 17th St.
