  1. Considering trying "Hartley Helmet Diving" while in Bermuda in early October on the Grandeur of the Seas.

The cost is $99 per person. Seems to get good reviews from most people on other travel sites.

Anyone have first hand experiences with Hartley?

About 40 years ago I went on th e Hartley helmet tour with the father who was then the operator. Fast forward to last summer when I again took the tour with my now grown grandchildren. They loved it and I went to accompany them on the boat. I can’t recommend this. Enough. It is a great experience and reasonable in price. Go it will be a memory for a lifetime.

  2. we may be traveling with our grandson who will be 2 years 11 months old and his 4 year old sister. Our grandson is potty trained and has been in daycare since he was 6weeks old. He is advanced in his speech and is used to playing with children up to 5 years old on a regular basis. He would not be happy in the nursery. Is there any chance that they would permit him to try out the 3 year old group instead?

  3. My wife and I were on the infamous EOS norovirus

cruise of 1/21/14 --- it was a disaster from the beginning to the end - if it hadn't been for Leigh and Erky it would have impossible --- I would like to think the RCCL management gave these guys some kudos, but I doubt it. In any case, both Leigh and Erky provide an added demension to a cruise unlike any I have experienced during our 27 cruises. They're funny, hardworking and very approchable. Hope they stay with RCCL

You are absolutely right. We were on that cruise as well and felt that Leigh and Erky were great. Both are great but together they were so entertaining.

  4. This will be my third cruise, but first on RCCL. I'm a bit intimidated by the size of the Allure, and I'm concerned about seasickness. How much do you feel the ship move? On my first cruise I did get seasick, but I think it was due to cabin placement. On my second one I didn't get sick, but I was more prepared. I'm just paranoid, I guess. Our cabin will be on deck 3, interior. Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

We wear sea bands. They seem to work for my family. We didn't feel the motion of the ocean on Allure last week.

  5. We are on vision in two weeks and we are planning a big 60th celebration for my mom. I was wondering if royal babies is open the first night because we all wanted to do dinner together for her birthday. Also are the others age groups open too? All together we have An 11 year old, 9, 6, two 3 year olds and a 9 month old. Thanks!!!!

Just off the Allure of the Seas. Royal babies was not open the first night.

  6. We recently became Diamond Plus. I called my TA and had her call RCCL who then refunded The $25 difference on my credit card. It was way after final payment was made. I had been told by C&A that you are entitled to the discount and since I had already paid they would credit the difference back to my credit card.

  7. Everyone who cruises gets C&A points. The points will be based on the number of nights and the stateroom type that each guest is booked in. So if some guests are booked in a JS or better, they would get two points per night. Switching staterooms once you are on board will not change the C&A point allocation, that is based on the stateroom type that each person was booked in.

Each stateroom will get OBC from the Next Cruise. It is usually allocated to the first person on each booking. If that does not work out for you, you can go to Guest Services after you board and re-allocate the OBC.

How do you get your sea pass changed for the new room when you switch?

  8. It is open for registration they just don't run a full schedule of activities. This is when the kids all go along and meet each other. My daughter always attends first night. It sets them up for the rest of the cruise.

Do you know if the nursery is open for business that night. We need to find babysitters if not for the firs t night.

  9. Darryl on the Grandeur on my Dec 24th cruise was one of the best. Going on Explorer on March 29. I'm glad to see Erky from Turkey will be back. My daughter loved him and Leigh on the Thanksgiving cruise last year.

Erky from turkey is coming back to a Explorer for one more contract. After that he hopes to have his pilot license and will leave cruising. We loved him on the three cruises we were on with him. He is so much fun to be with. Sorry that RCCL will be losing him but happy for him.

  10. Just a question, but my parents just got off the splendour and they mentioned no surveys now (guest comment cards) when they asked for one were told they would be emailed it. They were on B2B and received survey whilst still on board during week 2, but the survey was only valid for 1 week, so by the time they got home couldn't complete for the first cruise.

Anyone else come across this on another ship recently?

We did on our b2b cruises in January. We could not fill out the survey for the first cruise either. If we were given free internet time to complete it while on board during our second cruise we would have loved to fill it out.

  11. We were on the Dec. 2nd cruise on Explorer. Our friend was told erroneously that the only package was $20 a day.

We then also sailed on Explorer for the January 21 and January 31 cruises and purchased the soda only package.

I think the crew was not understanding the new drink program. The soda only package is not on the sheet they gave out but the sign next to the freestyle soda machines where they were selling the package did state that the soda only packages were $6.50 and $4.50 plus tax and tip.

I wouldn't worry about that package. I just think that the crew was confused.

  12. Just looked and one of the connecting rooms is still available? We're super happy for the upgrade so don't want to push our luck. My hubby is VERY protective of our girls and may not let them be separate even 2 doors down.

What would happen if I called after a couple weeks if that room was still available and asked if it was possible to get that room instead?

Once you get your upgrade you can call your TA or RCCL and ask to change to that other cabin . As long as the cabin is the same category as the one you want to exchange they will be glad to do it for you.

  13. Haven't got mine yet, but I don't think we are getting double points it was on someone's wish list.

I have received an email saying that interior, outside and balcony cabins that usually get 10 points for the cruise are getting an additional 10 points for a total of 20 points for that cruise. Suite passengers are also getting an additional 10 points to give them a total of 30 points for the cruise. The email said that it could take up to 90 days to see the points. I got this email in reply to one I sent asking if I was getting the points before my April cruise.
