  1. Hi, we are traveling to Cozumel on the Getaway next June. We are a family of four with two children ages 7 and 11. We are looking into Paradise Beach, Playa Mia (both with an aqua park) and Chankanaab State Park.

If anyone can give us an information either good or bad we would appreciate it. We would love to surprise the kids with the aqua parks however, I have seen better reviews of the state park. The kids don't like to snorkel so it would be a beach day with "swimming and digging" Also, we don't plan on purchasing the food on the island so quality of the food does not matter.

We also welcome any suggestions for different excursions on the island. Thank you in advance!

  2. Have sailed the Disney Dream a couple times and just cruised Freedom of the Seas(without the kids) this past July. We have two kids. We love the Disney cruise experience, but we were blown away by the Freedom, too. Great trip! While the kids clubs don't have the visual wow factor that Disney's do, the staff was getting rave reviews from parents. Also, the pool deck on the Freedom is much better with way more space and we thought our kids would love the H2O zone even in the absence of the AquaDuck. The staff on both lines were superb. Cabanas buffet on Dream is better than Windjammer on Freedom, but the main dining room food we liked better on Freedom.

Can't go wrong with either...bottom line.

  3. Hello all, we just booked a Western seven day on Getaway in June/2016. Have sailed Royal and Disney before, but this is our first trip on NCL. We took advantage of the free UBP promotion so drinks on the house will be nice. :)

We will be stopping in Roatan, Cozumel, Costa Maya, an Harvest Caye. We have daughters age 7 and 11 at time of sailing. Looking into Playa Mia day pass in Coz, but any suggestions for the other ports without breaking the bank? Am I correct in thinking that Harvest Caye will be similar to Great Stirrup/Labadee/Coco in so far as having an included buffet and free beach?

The most up to date menus for O'Sheehan's I can find are two years old. Are these still current? I kind of hope they are as they look good. How does service and food compare to DCL and RCI? We aren't planning any signature dining reservations. How does the food in complimentary dining rooms measure up? Flamingo's looks interesting. I'm looking forward to trying Garden Café. We much prefer Cabanas on DCL to WJ on RCI so want to see how Garden Café stacks up.

Any info is appreciated. Thanks! This ship looks GREAT so we are really looking forward to it.

  4. Dining rotation is fun. Pirate night menu is good, although on our last trip on Dream we were having such a good time on the pool deck that we opted to eat at Flo's. Paninis, burgers, chicken fingers...if you don't need formal it's a great way to have fun poolside and not stop for dinner.

  5. We've sailed Disney Dream and Freedom of the Seas. Both are great but after doing Freedom it's hard to justify the Disney expense because RCCL did a great job. Dining room food was better on RCCL but Cabanas is better than Windjammer. RCCL has a lot more activities to entertain adults on their schedule. There are certain game shows, shows, etc. that are tailored for adults and they're packed with people who are really into it which makes it a lot of fun.

That said, we have a Disney cruise this April, a RCCL cruise the following April, and a NCL cruise in June 2016 that we are equally excited for!

  6. The Dream is a beautiful ship. Have sailed on it twice before and scheduled again in April. The main negative to this ship is the size of the pool deck. The pools are small for the amount of guests that the ship carries. That said, the AquaDuck is a cool ride, but lines can be long while at sea. Kids clubs are really neat, staff is very friendly, and staterooms are great. We've done first seating dining both times and never felt hurried. Our wait staff on the first cruise was excellent but on the second they left a little to be desired. Cabanas is a winner, and I think I am most anxiously awaiting my first visit to Flo's V8 Café! I love that place!
