  1. Me and hubby just talked about this and are still planning on going. These are 2 places we have never been and even though we were hoping for hot weather this will still be great.

I have a lot of research to do so we can plan something to do but not sure of how long we will be docked at each place.

I can unpack some of my summer clothes and repack some heavier things now - we are still very very excited to go!!!

  2. We are leaving on the Pride on Sunday 10/9 - I am so nervous that they are just going to cancel the whole cruise. I always knew that a hurricane can happen when cruising Hurricane season just always prayed it wouldn't. I haven't started packing yet because I don't want to unpack - it would be heartbreaking.

We have been planning this vacation for almost 1 1/2 years and have saved and saved for it. We will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary and my hubbys 53rd Birthday while at sea. I just keep praying that everyone stays safe and our cruise happens.

  3. Thank you all for the responses. We are going on the Pride so the bar I was mainly talking about is the EA Sports Bar with all the TV's and games. I will have my son carry on the water (only taking a 12 pack - mainly for the room and ports of call) - I wouldn't want to check it and have it somehow break open and wet other luggage. Thanks again --- 1 week from today we will be in the dining room ready for dinner lol

  4. Hi all -- we are leaving on the Pride next Sunday. Here are a few of my questions.

My son drinks nothing but water so I am taking a 12 pack for him - question is, can he pack it in a duffle bag along with some other stuff of his and carry it on or does it have to be packed and carried on by itself??

With 3 cell phones in one room -- what kind of extension cord is allowed so we are all able to charge our phones??

Do they give out the lanyards or do we need to bring them?

My boys are ages 16 and 14 and my nephew who is 20 LOVE sports and trivia -- are they allowed to go into the bars that have the trivia games and live sports on the TV's??

Thanks for any answers to these questions --- I am beyond excited for this cruise. There are 20 of us going -- all but 2 are family and most of us haven't seen each other in 13 years.

  5. We were in the Breakaway in October. We hung out on the Waterfront -- there were pub tables, couches and regular chairs with little tables there. Also in the lido deck - one of the pool bars was smoking and there was a small enclosed area with some chair there. That area did get crowded during the day. In the adult only area, one side is smoking with comfy chairs along with the bar. Plenty of places to go.

  6. We have 8K extended balcony room 6232 (its an extra long balcony) next month!! Check it out, if it is still available!

Hi -- we are in room 6232 on the Pride leaving in May. Our category is a J not a K -- I know there are price differences with the categories and I am wondering which one is right?

  7. All along the waterfront on both sides of ship there were chairs, couches and tables. There are the specialty restaurants all along there if you choose to go and eat outside. No free dining along there. It really is a great place -- we both are smokers and enjoyed our time there with a drink and a smoke.

  8. Me and hubby had a wonderful time on the Breakaway. We had a Inside Room #5831 and it was fine for the 2 of us - bathroom was a lot bigger then we are used to on Carnival. He loved the rope course, rock wall and all 5 water slides. I was in a slot tournament ($20) and made it to the finals but came in 3rd out of 6. We only saw 2 shows - Burn the Floor, which we LOVED and Rock of Ages which I thought was just ok. We only ate in the main dining rooms, O'Sheehan's and the buffet and I have to say the food was good - nothing outstanding but good!! We loved the Waterfront in the evenings - always able to find a seat. Pool area was busy but fine. Staff was wonderful!!!

Casino got very crowded in the evening, we cashed a few times but still were down quite a bit but we had fun! We played 3 games of bingo which was a lot more expensive then Carnival - they have different packages but we always did the highest package which was around $50 - didn't win or even come close but was fun!

We had all intentions of going to the Meet and Greet on Monday but that was when the slot tournament was so we couldn't go.

We took the Mega Bus from Pittsburgh to NYC -- a long 8 hour bus drive but we would do it that way. We got into NYC at 6:40am the day the cruise started and walked around and then got to the port around 10:30 and by 11:30 we were on board -- really easy and quick. Getting off the ship - we carried our own luggage and were in line around 8:30am and through customs and out on the street by 9:15 - - again really easy and quick.

I plan on writing a review to go into more detail. It was really the best vacation me and my husband ever had and look forward to cruising again with Norwegian.

  9. We would have to catch the MegaBus in Pittsburgh and for the Amtrac, we were thinking of spending the night at my friends house in Lancaster (3 hours from our house) and catching the 7:55am train to NYC arriving at 10:49am. We didn't want to stay in NYC the night before due to the price of hotels and also my mom can't walk to far (COPD) and I am sure there would be lots of walking if we wanted to sight see. I will have to look into Greyhound and flying is out.

Sounds like my best bet would still be the train --- thanks all!!!

  10. Hi -- me and my 73 year old mother will be on the Breakaway on Oct. 5th -- neither of us want to drive so we are looking into the Megabus or Amtrac.

The Megabus leaves on the 4th and gets us into NYC at 6:45 am on the 5th (8 hour bus ride) which neither of us are looking forward to

The earliest Amtrac would get us into Penn Station is 10:49am on the 5th -- would that be enough time to get off the train, find our way through Penn Station, find a cab and get to the Port and be on the ship by 1pm??

Also when the cruise is over - would we be able to be off the ship and get to Penn Station by 10:30am? or would 12:30 be better??

Thanks for all the help -- I would really hate to see my mom trying to run so we wouldn't miss the boat even though that would be pretty funny hahaha:eek:

  11. Hi PA2CRUISE -- The total for 2 of us was around $640 for an inside room. It was $80 each to upgrade to an oceanview and $300 per person for an balcony but we just decided to stick with the inside room.

We are taking the train out of Lancaster - they have a train at 7:55am that gets us to Penn Station at 10:49am. We have also looked into the Megabus from Pittsburgh - they have one that leaves around 10:30pm the night before the cruise and gets you into NYC around 7:30am. I heard it is really reasonable.

I hope this helps - any more questions please ask.

  12. Hi - me and my mother are new to Norwegian. We are going on the Breakaway on Oct. 5th and are so excited that it is a girls only cruise. This will be her 7th cruise and my 3rd (I have only been on Carnival). I have a few questions about smoking on board - I know you can smoke in the casino and on deck 15 at the poolside bar - is there anywhere else? We like to sit on deck at a table and relax and have a smoke or two - can we do that??

I have received this cruise through The Rivers Casino and we are only doing the Inside Room since we have a family cruise planned for May, 2015 so we cannot upgrade to a balcony.

Also, has anyone purchased cartons of cigarettes on board, if so how much are they?

I have enjoyed these threads so much and am constantly on here reading reviews and tips. Thanks to everyone for all the great info.

One more question, we will be taking the train into Penn Station and will get there at 10:55 - we plan on going directly to the port - will that time be ok?? I thought I read somewhere that the ones with the free cruise board after Handicap and VIP's - is that correct? Will it matter that we won't be there till 11:30 or so??
