  1. Great decision! :D

Please do tell us about it when you return!

    LuLu

we are going on our first HAL cruise in November. Booked a Neptune suite on the deck 6 starboard aft corner. Hope it is as good as the Haven on NCL. Any advice?

  2. Their new ship Koningsdam attracted me. Just made final payment! I imagine it won't be very long before the smoking policy changes. Smoking is something our parents and grandparents used to do!

I like that comment! We are 55 and 51 and shouldn't have to avoid a line because people are smoking. We are from and live in NC. We've both primed (picked) tobacco to make some money when we were young, and we've both watched our family die from the use of this. It's about time HAL changed. We are booked in a Neptune suite in November and are willing to give it a try. We only hope that we are as comfortable as we have been on Princess, Celebrity and NCL in the Haven.

  3. It's a joke!! Wore my normal RCCL attire and and felt VERY out of place. Jeans, shorts, tank tops in the MDR. C'Mon man. If you take the time to publish rules please enforce them. If I had known that our suite experience would have been like a ride through a SC trailer park on Saturday night, we would have booked a room in Myrtle Beach. Darn it guys, this is a cruise, not a blooming block party!

  4. First time cruiser here and really need some advice! My husband and I are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and want to take our first cruise. We have narrowed down to three options. We will be coming from North Carolina.

We actually have a cruise booked for June 27th on the Majesty of the Seas but I am seriously second guessing this decision. This is out of Port Canaveral so a farther drive for us as well. The ship seems to have very small rooms and it is expensive for an upgrade to the SOV which is still only 157 sq. ft. The perks and reason we did book were the fact that it will be just out of dry dock and offer free wifi.

I have also considered the Carnival Splendor cruise due to the itinerary but this is out of Miami so we would fly which would be an added expense. We like that we could get a balcony on this ship as well.

The third option is on Carnival Elation out of Jacksonville. This is closest to us and seems like possibly what we are leaning towards but I have read many reviews on here and am not sure what to think?

Of note, 7 day cruises are not an option because it is already a stretch to get my husband to leave for 5-6 days (we have 3 small children at home!)

    Thank you for any input/suggestions!!

Keep the Majesty. RCCL is a better experience for an anniversary. Short CCL cruises this time of year are insanely loud. We just did 6 days on the Ecstacy from Charleston SC and were in the owners suite, S2. CCL loyals will know where this is and what it takes to get. RCCL has a better product for what you are looking for. Don't be concerned with the size of the room. You will be in there to sleep. That's about it. If you had more time and could travel, I'd recommend Princess. 24 cruises on 5 lines and also a Tarheel.

  5. Just an FYI - when I cruised from NOLA in 2013, I had my Tervis cup with me filled with water. I had to pour the water out (or drink it up) before I could enter the port. Now, I bring my Tervis empty to the port. Then I can always fill it again at a water fountain.

Sounds like it might be more of a port thing than a Carnival thing.

OK everyone of you whiny posters...These restrictions are federal TSA rules. Do you :Dreally want someone with an explosive on your cruise? Stop your whining and enjoy your vacation. You are on a cruise for gosh sakes....

  6. Was wondering if there are any additional perks for grand suite guests, other than the grand suite :)..............any help would be great, Happy New Year!!

We lucked into the owners suite....Carnival is the Bernie Sanders of cruise lines. Pay 150 or 5000 you get the same treatment....Learn from NCL, Princess, Holland and Royal. We had to get faster to the fun to get priority tender at one port. Believe it or not.

  7. We had Anytime Dinning. I haven't done Assigned Dinning since Anytime Dining came around.

I see from your signature you've only cruised Carnival. We've cruised with 6 lines and I will say that Carnival and maybe RCCL have the worst anytime dining. Princess does it very well and NCL invented it and does it best. This is why I say this, anytime staff is typically spread too thin, but so is the set staff, The difference seems to be the set staff learns preferences quickly and is able to anticipate more easily. In any case expand your horizons. There are some excellent experiences out there. :)

  8. We had the extended balcony grand suite for 4 people too and they offered us the owners suite for $4000. We declined. We have the same room booked for this cruise on the Sensation. It would be nice to get the call for a free upgrade to the Owners Suite:D

Have a great cruise!! Looking forward to a review and pictures.

We're beginning to think it does. After some research it seems there is a pattern....??? Maybe they do this for profit reasons?? They get to book the Grand Suite again at a higher price than before. Two happy groups, Owners and Grand suite passengers plus happy stock holders. Good business. I'm a financial advisor and I like their approach. :D

  9. That's awesome. What are the odds a solo cruiser gets the upgrade call? Not holding my breath...

The representative did say that one way they choose these is for cabins with 4 or more people in them. Then he went on to say that beyond that it is totally random.

  10. What's up with all of the Olive Garden haters out there?:o:p

LOVE their salad, and breadsticks and pasta dishes.:D:D

SO, it sound like you cannot get a simple pasta dish with meatballs at Giovannis? Is that true?

We may just skip it and stick with Izumi, Chops, and Sabor.

According to your signature you've only been on CCL so you are dismissed. Go to your room. Probably a cheerleader.:p:p

  11. Here it is

Do I understand that there is a menu of the CCL Chef's Table? If so it is strange, On Princess there is no menu. The Executive chef prepares his selection and it is served with a wine pairing and a description. After it is over you receive two photos and a nicely bound recipe book signed by the executive Chef and Maitre'd. It truly is a premium experience. It's called the Chef's Table Lumiere. We have sent the email to make reservations on the Ecstacy for the Chef's Table and received confirmation. I hope it is of the same quality. Anyone done both?
