  1. We are in our 70's and actually prefer the Dream> (Have been on both).

However, if your dad has walking issues, the Dream is a larger ship, he might be

able to get around easier on the other ship. Both are really nice ships, don't think you will go wrong with either.

Also you can call Carnival, before your cruise date, and ask for a wheel chair for him for boarding. There is a long ramp for boarding the ship in New Orleans.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your cruise and hope your parents enjoy. You are doing something really nice, taking them. :)

  2. Does anyone know the screen name for Paul Owen. someone is claiming that I am Paul Owen.

I can't answer your question because I have never heard of him before.

(I have a friend, (when someone says something that is bad), she always says: he/she "ain't nobody". Sounds that might fit in this situation.

I have read this entire thread and I want to tell you this has been the most interesting, well written, informative thread I have ever read. After each of your posts, I could not wait for the next one. Thank you so very, very much for sharing your talents and information with everyone.

It sure kept my interest. I don't post very much, but I read Cruise Critic every day/night, sometimes well into the wee hours of the morning. lol I am not a newby, I have sailed Carnival twenty times, also RCCL three times, NCL one time and Princess one time. Guess you can tell which is my favorite.

Thanks again and don't worry about this other persons comments. ;)

  3. and bus was not but a single decker..not double..

    My 100th approaching soon..75th w/CCL

    Hi Judi

sailed with you 3 or 4 times on the Holiday. Was on last cruise. Remember several of us gathered up on deck to celebrate the last night on board. :)

you are right about the bus single decker and the location. I thought that was so neat. lol

Congrats on your 75th and approaching 100. I am now platinum and have 25 carnival cruises under my belt.(6 cruises with other cruise lines). Always come back to Carnival.

I have nine SOS's each from a different ship. Sure wish I had gotten one from the Holiday.

Would love to have a Carnival ship back in Mobile. We have been cruising out of NOLA on the Dream.

    Later,

    Sarah

  4. Sorry I have to say this, all it is a 45 min (or so) open bar. That is it. If you don't drink, it would not even be worth going too. I would not even call it a party.

I would not call it a party either. I would call it a reception given by Carnival in appreciation for the loyalty of their Platinum and Diamond guests.

We don't drink alcohol, but thoroughly enjoy going. Call it immature or whatever (we are all here to have fun, right?), but I really enjoy the film showing all the Carnival ships and yes I am one of those who enjoy standing and applauding the ships I have cruised on.

I am very happy with the new rule, that it is strictly for Platinum and Diamond guests. I do however, think Carnival should do something more for the Gold members.

  5. Oh when were you on the Dream in December (I was on the Dream on December 7-14).

    Hi:

We were on the very next sailing, December 14,2014. Wish we could have been on same one with you! I read every word of your last review and was waiting for this one. I am on page 21 now and thoroughly enjoying it. We did the bar hop in Cozumel two years ago. Had a ball!

Best wishes to your dad, mom and you. Hope he will soon be able to travel with you again.

OK WRIGLEY.. now hurry up and finish, I want to know what you did on the bar hop BEFORE we leave for our next cruise on the Dream in three days. (April 12, 2015. We are as addicted as you. This will be cruise # 25 for me.:);):)

  6. I have Meniere's, have had it for several years. Sometime it gets so bad have to go to bed for a couple of days.

When I was first diagnosed the doctor prescribed meclizine (prescription only at that time). You can now buy it over the counter at the drug store. (They keep it behind the counter here). It is Rugby Travel Sickness (meclizine HCI 25mg.). I have vertigo a lot. When I feel it coming on, I just grab my meclizine and start taking it. ;)

I have been on 24 cruises, most of them since being diagnosed with Meniere's.

Next cruise is in two weeks. :).

Hope you can get some relief and are able to cruise.

  7. Mr. Donald:

Please get us another Carnival ship in Mobile, Alabama. Our beautiful cruise terminal and parking garage just sits empty, (with the exception of an occasional wedding reception) since Carnival left a few years ago.

There are many, many people in Mobile who want another ship here.

We are platinum with Carnival and love the Carnival ships.

Thank you very, very much for anything you do to help us. :)

  8. Yes, we built Carnival a brand new shiny cruise terminal facility and they up and left us. Now it's used for weddings and such for banquets. Pity.

Same thing happened in Mobile, Alabama. Makes me want to cry when I see our nice terminal empty.

    Everyone wants Carnival back here.

Are you listening Carnival? Please :)

We love Carnival ( 17 Carnival cruises and another one booked for next Sunday, but have to go to New Orleans now). It was so nice to have a ship here.

  9. Here is a link to it ! Yep, it's a great thread with lots of info about the logs and examples on how to set them up and what to print in them, etc.

It's one of the threads I am subscribed to so I get weekly updates. :)

    Angela

Thanks for the link, however it goes no where when I clicked on it.

Do you know if there is a book on the Dream?

    TIA:)

  10. Wow!!! This story really hits home for me. My dad was just discharged from the hospital yesterday due to a bleeding ulcer in his stomach that led to a heart attack. My dad received 7 pints of blood over the weekend. He was hospitalized for 5 days.

Thank God for the brave men and women who risk their lives to save the lives of others.

    Hi Wrigley80

You don't know me because I am just one of many who have read your reviews, however I feel like I know you after reading them (and viewing all the beautiful pictures of you and your Mom & Dad). I am so sorry this happened to your dad. I truly hope he is recovering well and will be able to go on your next cruise. I believe you mentioned you are booked on the Dream in December. What date in Dec.? We are booked on the Dream for the Dec. 14th cruise. If you are on that cruise would be nice to meet you in person.

Again best wishes and prayers for your dad. :)

    Sarah

  11. Also suggest you get travel insurance. We never cruise without travel insurance. Have never had to use it, thank heaven, but it is reassuring to know you have it, just in case. Even if everyone is healthy, you never know when there could be an accident. Hopefully there will be none but you never know

    Enjoy your cruise.
