  1. I agree that I am totally content without any pictures of myself. We however travel in three generations. Oddly enough we have very few photos of the three of us together. Though I am cheap as hell, I think the price is well worth it (especially since our next two are 14 days) and think we will cherish these when a day comes and we are only two generations.

Another bonus, is that some of the photos are real atrocities. They work so hard to pose us we just end up looking like bewildered mannequins. They are so god awful they have make excellent gag gifts.

  2. Sounds like quite a wind. At least the anchor held. I'm sure it was quite "interesting" for those onboard to have the anchored ship move and list as it pulled against the anchor.

On the Crowns second voyage in 2006 it listed seven miles off shore. We were on the ship and it was terrifying. Two members our our party truly believed they were going to perish. We quit cruising until 2015. My mother just returned to cruising last year. We have waited 18 years to cruise the Mediterranean, and are going on the Crown in 5 weeks. Needless to say I will not be sharing this most recent episode with my mom, and have never told my child. Leave it to us to attract another episode of listing. Yikes!

  3. I’m obscenely cheap and purchased the package last spring. We travel as three generations, but don’t have many pictures of the three of us. We were so pleased with the images (yes some are positively ghastly) I will be purchasing again for our upcoming 14 day. Like I said I’m totally cheap, but the memories are worth it to me. Those photos are far better than any other souvenir I could purchase.

  4. My last trip on the Crown, was her second infamous voyage. After watching myself on CNN that trip, I am confident it will be better. Glad it is being refurbished before our trip in June so it will be as sparkling as it was then. Fingers crossed for an incident free voyage.

  5. I have been a long time Princess cruiser, and a Princess snob even though I am only in my 40’s. In September I took my first Carnival cruise with low to no expectations and was totally surprised by the quality. I thought the eateries on Carnival, outside the main dining room, were superior on Carnival. The activities on Carnival were better for my child. On Carnival I hated the obscene noise level, which I often find offensive on Princess too. I do like having twice daily cabin service, but not a deal breaker. Also found the Carnival stateroom more comfortable. Carnival was more garish, while Princess is a bit more upscale. I truly enjoy them both and, now that I am a reformed snob, will readily travel either as deals present themselves.

  6. This is good info. I am traveling with my mom and seven year old. Our other family can't check in until noon, so it may be prudent to change our time and check in with them rather than sit with two exasperated people in the terminal. Conversely, 11:30 is reasonable. It's so hard being a rookie. We have status on a different cruise line so this issue is moot, but in this instance I don't know what to do. Thank you both.

  7. We are cruising Carnival for the first time next month. Are virgin drinks included in bottomless bubbles, or only cheers? If not what are the prices of individual virgin drinks. My seven year old loves her strawberry daiquiris and I don't know if I should buy them individually, or part of a package. She gets one a day.

  8. I am traveling a red eye with three generations and fear the rep won't be there and we will be milling around three hours waiting for other passengers to arrive.

We booked the Pretrip package with Princess and will have one full day in Ft. Lauderdale before boarding our cruise the following day. I don't want to be exhausted and waste a day hanging out at the airport.

We leave next Wednesday night. Any advice is appreciated.

  9. I am cruising in two weeks after a nine year hiatus. Let me see if I understand:

    1. When we are on ship my cell carrier is disabled, and I am using the ship's cell service?

    2. Will my Sprint service still work while cruising out of San Francisco

    3. Should I be on airplane mode until I set foot on land again?

    4. Too use FaceTime I should be on wifi?

    Thanks

  10. But I let my father with what I thought was mild dementia drive me to the airport. While unloading the bags from the back of the truck we realized we were in the wrong place for unloading. I directed him to drive around again to drop our bags. My mother and I were left on the sidewalk with our passports, tickets to Tahiti and a bag of shoes. We went to Tahiti with no clothes.
