  1. They were when we got there.  I think it was mainly porters that had just taken passengers to their vehicles going back down.  (I can't say for sure, because we did the drop off thing, because my mom needed a wheel chair )If not, I really don't think it would be that difficult because once you get to the bottom, porters are everywhere.

  2. You could get a family suite with an adjoining cabin on the 11th floor.  We were just on the Gem and had the same thing.  The family suite is 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and a living room, table with chairs, and other bonuses.  We connected our cabin with my mom and kept the adjoining door open.   It was nice to have a place to hang together comfortably.  The family suite is not part of the haven but does have some of the benefits of it.  Butler/Concierge/Breakfast & lunch dining.  You do not have access to the haven though.

And, according to yesterday's article in Sea Trade, linked above, until the ships meet the "vaccination standard of excellence" (95% of pax and crew vaccinated and boosted, and no ship meets this at this time), the ships will be considered "highly vaccinated", and will still require masks, and any ship that is not 95% vaccinated will also require masks.

  4. We were on this cruise as well.

Before we even boarded we knew it wouldn’t be like any normal cruise pre-covid.    We were all given the chance to cancel with “peace of mind” that NCL had in place. We knew we weren’t going to St Thomas because of the restrictions they put in place the end of December to take effect January 3.  We figured we weren’t going to Turks because there weren’t excursions listed.

We went on prepared to expect the unexpected.  We made a decision to go and just decided to enjoy ourselves regardless of what happened, we would still be on vacation.  We expected to miss ports, of course not 4 of the 5.  We expected shows to be cancelled, however none were  cancelled.  Everything was open, pools, spa, gym etc. with the exception of the smaller main dining room, Magenta. This was not an issue as we were under 50%  capacity.  It was open a few times but not many.

To go on a cruise during these times you have to know the possibilities, and be willing to adapt, if not wait to go cruising again.   NCL went above and beyond to make sure the passengers were happy. The fact that we are being fully refunded and 50% off another is unbelievable.  We can’t wait to book our next cruise with NCL.

If that was a nightmare cruise, I wish I wouldn’t have woke up this morning,  I would still be on the ship now!

Did she rent the scooter from Special Needs at Sea?  If so, she can call them in advance to note her reservation to meet her at Pier 90. She will not be able to enter Pier 88 (where the scooters are usually picked up) without a wristband showing she has been already cleared through testing.

That’s not the company, but she called who she rented from.  She was tod the scooters are now delivered to the cabin!!!   She explained she can’t do the walking/standing that’s why she rented it.  They gave her a number for NCL guest assistance, she called them and they said they are delivered to the cabin as well but to write a letter.  She emailed a letter and they responded with special request forms that need to be filled out 5 days in advance.  We leave Sunday🙄🙄

I assume you're on NCL and I'd suggest you ask the question on the NCL board because you're asking about their procedures. I recall that some posters complained about people with mobility issues having problems getting assistance going from one pier to the other.

BTW, it's one pier to the next. They have been testing at 90 and then cruises have been boarding at 88. There's no "89" in between the two.

    Thank you, I will

  7. From what I have read when you arrive, you drop your luggage at terminal walk over 2 piers get tested.  Once cleared you go back and proceed to check in.   My mom can’t do much walking and rented a scooter.  She is supposed to pick it up at terminal.  Can she pick it up and take it to the testing area?  Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you
