Wow thanks everyone! I love lazy sea days if i can soak up the rays by the pool but i have read that it is too cold on deck and most stay inside until closer to Hawaii, then it earms up.
We took the Hawaii to Vancouver cruise earlier this month. We had 5 days at sea, the first two were good pool lounging weather. The last three, not so much. Wasn't miserably cold, but not ideal for laying out in a bathing suite. I must say, that many sea days in a row was refreshing. You no longer answer to a clock. Eat when you're hungry, sleep when your tired, and answer to nobody. Wish I could hit the reset button and do it again!

We just booked an interior room on the Freedom. It'll be hard to go back after having the vista suite on the Legend!

Only 16 more days until the vacation begins, and 18 until we cruise on the Legend out of Hawaii, but I think it may be the longest two weeks and two days ever. We booked our cruise with about 332 days to go, but now we're in the terrible time where it's too close to just ignore and go on with your everyday life, yet too far away to really get excited and start packing. This cruise is very much needed, like right now!

I'll be in 4228 on the legend in May, should have a better videos than currently in YouTube after we're done.

It's been just over four years since we sailed on the Fascination out of Jax, but man was it a blast. We loved the ship and the crew was top notch. We felt very pampered. I'm sure there's been some turnover in the last four years but I'm confident that you'll find the same. Enjoy!

Not a HUGE fan of WCMC - but I think I will have to try BOTH ways - the peanut butter one night and the butter pecan ice cream another.
Maybe I just haven't had the right combination yet!! ;)
Same here. The WCMC is ok but there are a ton of other deserts that I'd rather have. But the peanut butter idea is too good to pass up. The butter pecan will be amazing as well I'm sure.

Mmm there are some great ideas in this thread. I haven't tried this yet but I'm think of getting a roll from the deli with just lettuce tomato and mayo and then going up to the fish and chips station and getting some fried oysters to make a simple oyster po boy :D

What a great thread! I absolutely love this idea and will try this too.
I'm in the middle of trying to lose an additional 50 pounds by my May cruise (10 pounds down as of now). First reason is I want to look good for all of the honeymoon pictures, but a close second reason is to do all of these fun things guilt free.

When you order your WCMC in the MDR ask for a scoop of peanut butter on it. Soooo good.
Woah, that's next level stuff right there. I will absolutely be doing this on my cruise this spring. Peanut butter is my weakness. Adding chocolate = game over.

What a great review. Thank you for doing this! The wife and I are already signed up for this for our May cruise from Hawaii to Vancouver so I'm sure we'll do a review as well to show any updates.

I wish I had an answer for you on changing the names. I absolutely agree with the posters above. If you can't change the names and they don't have the decency to pay you back, you need to take them to small claims.

Welp, looks like my bad luck with the USPS continues. I have yet to receive my passport, but I'm able to track it as it bounces around all over the country. Below is the short summary of its journey:
August 1 - Departed USPS facility in Hot Springs, AR
August 2 - Arrived at USPS facility in Dallas, TX
August 3 - Departed USPS facility in Dallas, TX
August 4 - Arrived at USPS post office
August 4 - Out for delivery
August 4 - UNDELIVERABLE AS ADDRESSED
August 7 - Arrived at USPS facility in Coppell, TX
August 8 - Departed USPS facility in Coppell, TX
August 10 - Arrived at USPS facility in Nashau, NH
August 11 - Departed USPS facility in Nashau, NH
August 12 - Arrived at USPS facility in Dallas, TX
The funny thing is it was addressed correctly, I received my passport card in the mail on Tuesday. Why was this not able to be delivered on Monday with the same address? Makes me relieved that I decided to do this 10 months in advance of actually needing it and not last minuted. This just gives us a little glimpse into why the USPS is losing about 25 million dollars a day.

I just called, and it was mailed on Friday. Looks like the post office is holding it until my mail forwarding starts next week.

You don't need a passport anyway to cruise the Caribbean.
It's a Hawaii to Vancouver cruise. Caribbean cruise may be later in '15 for me.

Awesome, thank you all for the replies. I'll try to call today to see if a live person can give me an update.

* I have plenty of time until my cruise in May, but I hope I don't have to pay the fee again just to include the BC.

I mailed in my passport application (new issue) from TX on 7/10, and I'm still not able to track it on the passport application tracking website. It says I should receive it in around 4-6 weeks and I'm starting to worry that it was lost in the mail. How long does it usually take before it's trackable?
Also, I submitted my passport card that I received in 2011 as my proof of U.S. citizenship. Has anyone else done this? The website says valid passport can be accepted and I don't know if that includes the cards. The people at the post office I submitted it at didn't seem to know for sure but guessed that it may work. Any help would be much appreciated!!

DW and I have 4228 from Hawaii to Vancouver next year, so I'd be interested to know as well.

I think you are going through "Temporary Cruise Dread Syndrome" ("TRDS"). Only time I get TRDS is at 4:00 am wake up call on morning of cruise or right before packing suitcase when you realize your happy routine is going to be disrupted by worry over making plane, whether plane will be delayed, flat tires, getting parking, long lines at embarkation, losing travel documentation, tipping everyone with a hand out, extra baggage fees-cash flying out of your huge wallet with stacks of $1 Dollar Bills for tips. TRDS goes away when you take your first relaxing breath on the LIDO deck. That's one thing that is better when you cruise annually or multiple times a year. You've got most of the decisions already made and the routine down pat.
This really is a real thing, I remember experiencing it on my last cruise (pretty much my first since I was 6 during my actual first cruise). The days leading up to embarkation were some of the most stressful ever. We shelled out all this money and were looking forward to it for so long, I just KNEW something was going to keep me from getting on that boat. As soon as I stepped on the ship, everything melted away. Such a great feeling.

Has anyone ever cruised to the Bahamas in January? I'm wondering if it would be warm enough to enjoy the pools/waterslides and the beach. We are thinking of sailing out of Charleston or Jacksonville.
We sailed out of Jax in mid December 2010 on the Fascination. The water slides were closed the entire time and I never saw anybody in the pools even though they were open. For the most part it was in the low to mid 60s and WINDY. It was even a bit chilly in Nassau. If swimming in the pools and using the water slide is a big part of your cruising plans, I would probably look to book at another time.
Of course, living in Florida my whole life (up until two years ago), I can say that the weather and temperature can change very quickly. We just happen to get unlucky for the week.
-
Agreed, but the passenger spaces are much nicer. Are you afraid of coming into contact with off-duty crew?
The last time I did the behind the scenes tour on the Fascination, someone asked the policy of the crew "fraternizing" with passengers. The guide said they have a very strict policy on crew hooking up with passengers as it can obviously lead to... bad things for Carnival. That's probably why is very rare to see crew in the passenger bars. Drinking (even a little) can lead to other things.

Hopefully last question... The same person said they were told that the BC must say certificate of birth. The state issued one I have from VA in the 90s says "certification of vital record". We had no issue using it to get her (now expired) passport but wanted to check with y'all.
Sounds like you should listen to everything this person is saying, and do the complete opposite :)
-
My last cruise was on the Fascination back in December 2010 and I threw back mojitos the whole time. I remember finding out afterwards that they were around $10-$11 each. I guess they were listed in the "classic cocktails" category. Just a heads up if that's your go to cruise drink.
How do I start a roll call?

I followed the steps above, but I'm having trouble finding the "start a new thread" button. I even did a word search for "start" using the control f function and noting came up. Am I missing something? Looking to start a thread for the August 28, 2016 cruise on the Breeze.
