  1. We were there on Thanksgiving last year with our two daughters (10 and 6). The water was pretty calm with just a few waves. We basically had the place to ourselves. The distance from the chairs to the beach wasn't that big but with such a small crowd, it didn't really matter. No one was fighting for space. Gail and Barry were terrific hosts - the rum punch is awesome and they were so sweet to our girls. We did the PAYG option which made sense for us. We will definitely return the next time we are on Antigua!

  2. Hi all - We will be in St. Lucia in November. My DH and I were last here in 2014 and did an island tour. This time, we will be traveling with our two DDs (ages 10 & 6) and would like to spend the day at the beach.

Trying to find a beach fairly close to the ship (within 20-30 minutes) with chairs to rent, umbrellas, decent food and bar selection, etc. My girls are novice snorkelers but don't need beach toys to keep them entertained.

My husband and I are seasoned cruisers and i'm having a hard time swallowing the price of Bay Gardens even with the allure of the splash park.

Any advice and/or suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

  3. We will be in Antigua in November on the Gem. Is Beach Limerz kid friendly? I don't mean kid-focused (inflatables, beach toys, etc.) as we are not the kind of family who needs that but is this a place where we can bring our two girls (10 & 6) and not feel out of place?

  4. Great! Thank you! I'll be interested to see what you think of the MDR, as it gets mixed reviews. Also, anything about the kids club you notice - or at least do kids you see seem happy onboard. Any shore excursions? Your favorite place to curl up with a book or a drink? Have a wonderful cruise!!

We were on the same cruise as the OP and our daughters (ages 8 and 5) LOVED the kids club. In fact, my 5 year old cried on the last night because she wasn't going to be attending the last few late night activities (we wanted them to get to bed early). The activities for them throughout the week were great. They are open 9-12pm, closed for 2 hours for lunch, then reopen from 2-5. From 5-7, they can do dinner with the kids club or you can bring them back from 7-10pm. 10pm to 1am is considered "slumber party" and you will be charged $6 per hour unless you have the VIP package which makes it free. The kids are broken down by age (3-5, 6-8, 9-11 and then 12+ are the teens group). My girls loved the activities and they had a 4th of July party which included decorating t-shirts and making hats, a 4th of July parade and a talent show at the end of the cruise. Both got the backstage tour of the theater where they met the entertainers, dancers, band members and tried on costumes. My 8 year old was able to take the tour of the bridge and meet the Captain.
  5. Hi all - we are a group of 10 flying into FLL and then taking a shuttle to Miami on 7/1. We are leaving on the Equinox which leaves on 7/2. Can anyone recommend the Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn or the Intercontinental? I've done enough research to understand that no one offers a hotel shuttle to the port and we are good with taking an Uber.

We are traveling with 8 adults and 2 kids and we will get into Miami around 10pm. With an early turnaround time (ship leaves at 3:30pm), we won't need use of the pool and the views don't matter much. I'm also not too concerned with what is within walking distance since we won't be at the hotel for very long.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated! Thanks!
