  1. Never been on a cruise, we take our first one in September. Yay us!! I did however work in a hotel for 3 years and I can tell you some crazy stories about things people leave behind. The funniest one though was when two girls who were driving the Oscar Meyer Wiener mobile across the country stayed with us and left their own type of battery operated wiener in the bed when they checked out. You really can't make this stuff up.

  2. I have a ton of dresses and most are fitted or are maxis so I don't think the wind will be a huge issue. Those that I fear will fly up I will just make sure I have a bathing suit on, bicycle shorts and a half slip. Just the thought of wearing capris or shorts and trying tool find tops that don't make me look paunchy makes me sad.

  3. That is what I was thinking. They are cute and comfortable and I can do a quick change at night for dinner. I figure I will be eating more than usual too and don't want to worry about shorts being too tight!!!

  4. Do any of you ladies where sundresses for the entire cruise? I love them and it seems it would be easier than trying to figure out outfits for each day and would make the packing easier and lighter which makes for a happier husband. This is my first cruise and we are going on Carnival. Just trying to figure out if I really need to bring more than one pair of shorts. I figure shorts and a tank top for port days with my bathing suit, and sundresses and maxis for the rest of the cruise. What do you ladies wear? :)

  5. I certainly understand the loss of pictures and much, much more. We lost everything we owned in a house fire in December of 2006 and I can't tell you the pain it caused me. However, life goes on and you really can't let it keep you down, not for long anyway. She will have those memories in her mind and heart and hopefully that will someday give her comfort.. I am sure someone else took snapshots and she will have those to look at too.

  6. I just read every post in this thread and am so glad we decided on NC! We will be there on 9/4 and although I don't want to rush the date because that means my vacation will be nearing an end I can't hardly wait!

  7. Working in that industry I can tell you that the three things you need to worry about our the remotes (most nastiest thing in the room), the bedspreads and for the love of everything good and holy check your sheets. Not sure if it really an issue on a ship but some housekeepers WILL cut corners to get their room times down by not changing the sheets especially on a really busy day. I was an inspector and could always tell when one of the housekeepers decided not to change the sheets when someone checked out. Now we did not have a lot of girls would would do that but every now and then we did have a lazy or slow moving one who just did not care and would.

  8. I worked in a hotel for three years and was in laundry a lot. I promise you those towels are cleaner than your towels at home. Lots of hot water, detergents and bleach gets used. And then you have the dryer that is super hot. Nothing is surviving in that heat.
