I don't know what you get for that $3.99 but NCL's package provides 1L Aquafina bottles. On land those typically run around $1.50 in cases and $2-$2.50 in singles.
At a Wal-Mart or Costco you can get the 12pack for around $18.
So the NCL price is a 200% markup. Very high for water, but not the craziest markup you'll find on a cruise ship.
As others have pointed out, water is free on the ship. Ask your steward to bring you a pitcher of ice water to put in your mini-fridge, That's free!
There is no such thing as a 200% markup. If you are going to use a term please learn what it means!
-
Filling your bottle is also the Green way to go, a consideration for the ships.
You don't really have to carry water if you bring a tagged case. Pull up at the porter and check it like luggage. It will be in your cabin along with your luggage.
No, NOT USING A BOTTLE at all is the green way to go!

There is a splash area just for toddlers...he can still get wet and have fun
Not if he is in diapers of any type.

I'm sailing on NCL for the 3rd time, but just looked into pre-ordering a 12 pack of water for my cabin. NCL wants $47 and change. On Carnival, the same item is $3.99. Why the ripoff?
I think a daily soda package might be cheaper, but I don't usually drink soda. If I drank alcohol, I would have gotten the free or discounted booze pkg but I don't, so I opted for the dining pkg. instead.
Why is water so expensive on NCL?
If anything is not worth the price it is being offered at then simply DO NOT BUY IT!

It was only a matter of time - too much business to be lost from Canadians to not offer something attractive to them.
LOL great joke!

You can use it on 100,000 devices if you have that many. Usage is tied to a log in account and not any device.

They are clearly looking at the numbers when making these decision. They are going to continue to raise prices until the math works out so that they are making a profit. Clearly at the prices they were charging they were not breaking even or making a profit so the price has to go up.
Very poor logic. You do not have a good grasp of economics. In econ the objective is to reach maximization. This does not always (and fact rarely does it) mean making the most sales. It means finding the price point at which you reach the maximum profit (per unit profit x sales). You can easily be making a profit of any given amount and still not be at maximization. If you economics dictates that you continue to adjust pricing up and/or down) until maximization is established.

The typical cruiser mentality these days. As long as I am having fun and enjoying myself the heck with these other people.
Its the way the country has gone. It is all to the pint now that "I am the only person who matters, screw everyone else".

We were on the Getaway and I saw plenty of babies/toddlers in little swimmers in the pool, it didn't seem like it was an issue?
Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
1) How is that a question?
2) Believe me it was an issue. The crew many not have bothered with enforcing things but it WAS an issue!

You've characterized this water VERY well indeed.
Some typos are actually intentional subtleties!

1] Talking back to the Captain.
2] Being in the hall after midnight with out a note from your steward.
3] Trying to get dessert without finishing your dinner.
4] Taking flash pictures in the theater.
4] Standing on the bow and yelling "I'm the King of the world".
Feel free to add to the list.;)
Forgetting that the number after 4 is 5 and not a second number 4! :D

We have been doing just that, showing up 10 to 15 minutes before a show on cruise lines for over a decade and always got a seat.
LOL that 100% contradicts the last post you made saying "I hate that I can't just pick which time I go to a show"...
-
I'm confident that your little one will "get it" by your cruise.
Lets hope she does figure he is far enough along to just throw a bathing suit on him and 'risk it'... :(

We are going on our first cruise in early April with our two children, 5 and 3. I'm trying to get my three year old son out of diapers before this trip, but he is struggling hardcore. If we weren't going away I would give up and come back in a few months but because of this trip I'm sticking to it.
I did a quick google search but didn't see an answer come up about the kids area. If a kid is still in swim diapers are they allowed to go near the water area? And if not, what else do you do during the day with them, especially with a BFF slightly older sibling that is able to do things like this?
Second kids are completely different than the first.. oy.
GROSS. Even thinking of allowing anyone in diapers in a public swimming area is nasty. Would YOU get into a poll after a kid wearing a diaper? Being in a diaper 199% indicates that the person has no control over "that" and there is no such thing as a safe amount of "that" in pubic water. It is extremely inconsiderate for someone even to considerate doing this!

I have heard that the LaQuinta Airport East has a free shuttle to the cruise port and only charges $10 per person for the shuttle ride back to the hotel/airport! LQ also offers a nice veterans discount!

I agree. My biggest complaint with specialty is the set times, and I hate that I can't just pick which time I go to a show. I still enjoy my cruise though, just could enjoy it more...
You actually can, just remember that if 1,000 people pick the same time that you pick to go to a show that only seats 800 people then those how made reservations get first dibs. It is 100% unrealistic to assume that you can show up at any time you please and there will always be a seat for you.

If I had booked an event at the gas station and paid a deposit under a specific set of terms and conditions I would absolutely expect the gas station to notify me of any changes in costs or conditions. I don't think that's too unreasonable and is good business practice.
If you had booked and paid for the event the changes we are discussing would have zero impact on you. Just liek if you had booked the SDP this is not relevant.

Which of those is a cruise ship?
Apples to Artichokes.
LOL there are different rules of economics for cruise ships. Oh well some peopel just have to find soem reason to choose to be upset!
-
Wonder why everyone feels like they should notify you before they raise prices. Does your gas station advise you when the prices are going up? Does your grocery store tell you when prices are going up? What notice did Disneyland/Disneyworld give when they raised their prices?
Thank God someone actually realizes this besides me. How foolish is that debate that they did it without warning. That basically boils down to "I have no valid reason to be upset so I'll just go with they didn't warn me".

Just got the mail today and I received yet another voucher for a free CCL cruise. I am not even sure if I'll be able to sail one more time in the window of availability. Man like really does suck sometimes doesn't it? :D

Good. Very good.
Actually I thought it was WELL DONE!

We are returning on the Escape in February 27th. We currently have a 4:30pm flight back to PHL on AA. Looking at their current bookings they have a 10:00am flight with a lot of seats open, they also have a 12:15 and 2:30pm flight with a fair amount of open seats.
Has anyone made a 10:00am flight out? We would of course do walk off, run if needed to get to the airport and try and change our flight.
Thanks
Damn near ANYTHING is POSSIBLE. PROBABLY, not so much in fact it is more a case of highly unlikely.

Some people just loose their minds over this stuff. The UBP is the Ultimate Drink Package for all intensive purposes.
The UDP is only for the specialty dinning restaurants and not for the drinks. There pretty clear about it.
I have never seen anyone with a loose mind or a tight one for that matter.

How much weight do people typically gain on a 7 day cruise? Let's be real here with this answer. Also will I be able to get milk for my little one? I don't see it in the beverage packages or on the complimentary drinks.
I don't think tose were random. I think you asked them intentionally! :D
