  1. We always ask for the robes and ice. It all depends on their attitude if it is above and beyond. My husbands likes to talk to them and get to know them. On the first port day he ask if they are getting off the ship. He gives them some money and tells them to buy their lunch. A lot of times they come back and tell us what they ate and thank you. We also leave something else at the end of the cruise. You would be surprised they remember you even if you see them on other ships.

  2. They prefer you to use a clean glass to refill your cup to avoid contamination with dispensers. I have seen too many people take a used water bottle and put the spigot inside the bottle. Can you say gross? I no longer get anything from the self serve beverage dispensers and I quit coming home with the cruise crud.

  3. My husband and I generally cruise alone - just the two of us. We love talking to people we meet on the cruise. What we like about the cocktail hours in the Diamond Lounge, is that it is perfectly acceptable to walk up to a couple already seated, and ask to join them. It's almost sort of expected that if you have empty seats at your table, strangers will join you. We have met some really interesting people this way.

Now yes, we could take our vouchers and go to the Schooner Lounge for our drinks. But we would really not be comfortable walking up to strangers, and asking to join them! Especially if the lounge was not pretty full. Sort of awkward don't you think? We also would be unlikely to meet these same strangers by accident again later in our cruise. In the Diamond Lounge, if you go around the same time each night - depending on your dining hour - then you likely run into the same people. Makes for a sort of camaraderie each evening when you can wave and say hello to those you sat with on a previous night.

Will this make or break our cruise? No, but one of the cruises that we enjoyed the most was in a large part due to the wonderful people we met in the Diamond Lounge that week. Perhaps this would not matter to those who travel in larger groups, but for us couples who are shy about approaching strangers, it did matter. At least to us.

During the daytime, both DH and I make a lot of use of the Diamond Lounge on ships with nice ones. On Freedom, we often have breakfast there, plus use the lounge as a quiet place to read. In all lounges DH makes use of the coffee machine several times a day for cappuccinos and expressos. For him this is quite a welcome benefit of having free specialty coffees - probably just as valuable as the free evening drinks.

This is exactly why my husband and I love the DL. We travel as a couple and have met fellow frequent cruisers that we enjoy visiting with.

  4. My first cruising experience was with Big Red Boat. I don't remember which ship but I do remember visiting Nassau as one of ports and the ship had no stabilizers. It was during the time when Disney stopped partnering with them. After Big Red Boat's decline, my family and I switched to Carnival. We've been cruising with them ever since.

Big Red Boat was not our first cruise, but it was the 1st cruise we took our daughters on. Part of a Disney package, 3 nights at Disney and 4 night cruise. Our daughters now 36 and 41 still talk about it. In fact this Christmas we are all going on RCCL Liberty,, the daughters, son in laws, and grandkids. Making more memories!:)

  5. DW and I will be sailing as D+ for the first time next week. We will be on Liberty OTS. I'm just looking for advice on how to make the most out this new tier experience. Any and all advice will be appreciated.

  6.

Depending on if it's the Eastern or Western route.

So the Allure's menus weren't changed yet?? Oasis was changed last week to new menus. I figured at least Allure would too since it's the sister ship. Guess they're trying it out on Oasis 1st.

We leave next week. Can you possibly ask when they're changing? Thanks!

DebbieN167 Looks like we are both trying to find out about the menu. Great minds think alike. Bdstiles
