  1. I loved this review too...just don't get too attached to any of the Dining tips or menus. We're booked on the Oasis in March 2015, and have just had a rather bad shock...

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2092946

Yes, I have heard a little about this, thank you.

I guess the upside of being a first time Royal cruiser is that I have a clean slate for dining experiences (other than what info I get from reviews, haha). Plus I still have time to read the comments and reviews on Dynamic Dining to get an idea of what will be different from what I know at this point.

  2. Just a quick note to let you know that, although this review was created some time ago, it lives on as a source of excitement and anticipation for new cruisers!

I binge-read this review, in its entirety, just this afternoon. I'll be taking my first RCI cruises on an Oasis B2B vacation next March. I already feel well prepared with the many tips and recommendations from the extensive knowledge you've shared with us.

    Thanks so much, cheers!

  3. We had a 9:30am flight last week, and after resolving a double-billing issue with the photo people, we walked off at 645, no crowds, plenty of customs lanes open, plenty of cabs waiting. We were at the airport before 730, with almost no security line as well.

If you really want to be first off, just go down around 6am and wait on deck 5 which is where the gangways will be at Port Everglades.

Wow that's terrific! We can't walk off with our bags though- in our party of 7 there is an 18 month old and two people with a few mobility issues. It would be too much for the able-bodied people to carry. But am I right in saying we can contact GS and arrange an early disembarkation?

  4. If you were on Oasis or Allure, I would say you had no problem making that flight. However, depending on what terminal Vision is scheduled to use, and what time she is scheduled to arrive, I might want to change to a later flight. For example, if Vision is scheduled to arrive at 8am in terminal 24 or 25, then I'd be concerned. For some reason, disembarkation from those terminals seems to take longer than other terminals.

Can you please clarify what it is about Oasis/Allure that makes that flight time possible? Is it their early arrival? Efficiency of the terminal? Just curious, as I know very little about ship arrivals, the workings of terminals, etc.

I actually do have a 10:30am flight booked out of FLL after an Oasis cruise, so I am happy to see that we should be ok with that time. :)

    Thank you

  5. Thank you so much for the information you put together for me! That was incredibly kind of you.

I am definitely going to check out the resort day pass option and see what the family thinks of that.

I had read about the Royal Babies and Tots Program, but I was so happy to see those photos of the playroom you found! I bet that'll be a great hangout when baby (and Daddy) needs a break from the sun...... Mommy can't get enough sun ;)

  6. Hi TravelBug08:

Thank you sooooooo much for taking time to post. Sometimes I feel like I'm out here all alone :o so it's nice to get a response every now and again.

Yes' date=' it is true that Margaritaville would not be a good spot for your dear 18 month old. It is definitely an adult playground. I will be posting some info on Adventure Ocean later though. They have added quite a few activities for that age group.

Wow a B2B on Oasis! That gives you the chance to really enjoy the ports and the ship. You are going to have a ball. What are you most looking forward to?

Hope you will stay along for the ride. Lots more to come but if you have any specific questions ask away. I'm here to share what ever knowledge I have.[/quote']

Thanks for getting back to me Ms.Lillie :) And I'd love to hear more about on board activities for wee ones!

Yes I'm so happy to have two weeks to take in what Oasis has to offer. I am giddy about it, I think about it everyday! I love to cook and learn about new foods, so I always enjoy opportunities to try new things, whether it's in the MDR or at a specialty restaurant. Also, on each vacation I try to do something outside my comfort zone (read: Oasis' zipline, Flow Rider and rock wall climbing), and love to experience activities with animals (currently trying to choose a location for beach horseback riding).

All that, of course, are experiences for myself. But really, I'm most excited to take my daughter to the beach for some time in the sand and water. Our landscape is similar to that of Ireland, only with a HARSH winter of heavy snow. So Caribbean sun, sand and water is an absolute delight for us :)

My parents, aunt and uncle will come as well. The six of us did a B2B on Carnival Freedom two years ago for my parents' wedding! We had such a ball, and looked in AWE at Oasis while in Port Everglades..... we all just knew we'd be back to try her out!

Look forward to more posts and photos!

  7. Infamous. Wow!

whoops-a-daisy. That's what I get for trying to make a timely response whilst keeping a newly walking infant away from the keyboard. No proofreading! And I'm an English teacher. Horrendous.

I meant the clear opposite, sir :) Before I even joined CC my mother, who reads but doesn't post, told me to look for one "Bob", that he always answers promptly and with an informative and friendly manner. By no means is that infamous.

  8. I've been wondering about this too, as we'll also be cruising B2B. I've heard the same about the small laundry bag, mostly for socks and underclothes....

I'm curious though, we'll be bringing our *then* 18 month old daughter. I think I can fit a fair bit of her clothes in said bag. Would that be ok I wonder?

  9. Interesting I never heard about this I go on my first cruise on the allure aug31st what is it exactly and how does the prohibition party work?

Yes I'd like to hear more about it too, preferably from someone who's participated already. I already have a costume, haha, but I'd like an insider's review of how the event was:

What sort of drinks are served? I heard a lot of gin?

Are people "into" it? By that I mean were many people dressed up, dancing, really getting into it? I realize this may be a subjective answer, but I figure if you're paying for this event, and likely bringing a costume, you're gonna be into it, right? I hope so! I love dressing up and adore this time period.

    Please and thank you!

  10. You will get more and better responses to your question if you start a new thread. Or do a search on this forum.

Yes, you're likely right. And thank you, I probably will create a thread in time as well. I was just curious about the comment of it being a "waste of time and money". Money? Yeah I can see that. But time? I'd like to know more.

I'd just like to read why someone didn't enjoy something as well as did enjoy it...and I guess that'll be what a new thread is for :)

  11. Can I ask you to elaborate on your Prohibition Party experience? I haven't read much about it, and am really interested in it while on Oasis next year.

Oh, and my apologies if this question was asked/answered previously. I kinda skimmed through the hot topic comments that seem to have unfolded. :/

Happy cruising to you, with whomever it may be.

  12. Hi Ms. Lillie,

I am very much enjoying your review of Oasis. My family and I are going for B2B cruises in March 2015. You've just posted some pictures and info on Jamaica I've been particularly curious about.

Our previous B2B cruises (we live in Northeastern Canada, so we try to go

B2B to make our flight fares worth the time and money, haha), we went to Margaritaville in Grand Turk. I had a blast at their outdoor pool and bar. I loved it so much I was hoping to find another one for this upcoming trip.

From what I see in your pictures, there's a pretty cool slide, but it goes into the ocean? The two floor bar/restaurant looks great, but I'm curious about the water activities/amenities. Our trip this time will be with our 18 month old daughter. I was looking for an outdoor pool experience for her, but it doesn't look like Falmouth's Margaritaville will offer that.

Any further details, and/or perhaps more photos would really help me out. 'Cause otherwise she'll spend the day with her grandparents while husband and I go horseback riding :)

Thanks again. I'm subscribed and enjoy all that you post!

  13. They have scrapbooking, check the compass or with GS

Yes, thank you. I did see photos of a scrapbooking room. I'm more interested in simply purchasing an RCI scrapbook and kit so I can scrapbook at home afterwards. On Carnival they were sold with picture frames and such in the Photo Gallery.

  14. Hello Everyone!

This is my first ever post on cruisecritic!! I've been browsing for a little while, and have not yet seen an answer to one of my questions (many others have thankfully been answered ;) ).

I enjoy photography and scrapbooking as hobbies, particularly to quickly showcase my travels. On our Carnival cruise I was happy to discover that they sold their own scrapbooks and matching kits. As I prepare my budget for our family vacation on Oasis next year, I was curious whether RCI offers similar products? And if so, can anyone tell me the price point so I can plan accordingly (not to mention adjust my luggage!)?

    Thanks so much
