  1. I understand your concerns, however we have stayed in that exact cabin on the Dream a couple of years ago and found it to be great.

Close to the center of the ship, only a couple of flights down to the casino or the lanai area, close to the Crimson dining room if you are doing 'your time dining' and should you decide to do some laundry, well your right there to start it and go back across the hall to sit on your balcony while waiting on it to finish.

There is always activity in the halls so might as well be close to the center and easy access to the elevators. The hot tubs are far enough away to have not been a problem for us.

We would book it again without hesitation--enjoy the cruise.

BTW- if you need another ironing board, a quick run down one flight of stairs will get you a room with two boards and no washing machines.

Thanks for the information! It's making lean more towards keeping that room!

  2. I'm currently booked on the Dream for Spring Break 2018. Super excited because the Dream has been my Dream since it's unveiling. Tried to do my research to get the best room possible and ended up with room 7347 on the Empress deck! My room is across from the laundry room and near the elevators, which doesn't worry me much. What does worry me is how close we are to the lanai and hot tubs 2 floors below. A quiet smoke free balcony is all I want, not sure if I can expect that in this room. Has anyone stayed in this room or nearby? Should I change rooms? I want this to be the best trip possible, it's for my 10yr anniversary! Thanks everyone!

  3. I personally do not feel it's a huge deal to take kids out of school for a family vacation. This past Jan I saved a TON on our Dream cruise for our family of 5 versus going over spring break. My kids are in 11th, 7th, and 5th grades and I have no regrets about taking them out of school. The school also had no issue with it, even though the cruise landed on the week of semester finals. When I talked to the high school principal about it he told me that parents have every right to take their kids out of school when they see fit and they do not discourage it. Enjoy your cruise! We had soooo much fun!

That would be awesome, but with this being his first year of real school, I didn't want to rock the boat until I had the tardy/absence thing down. I would hate to have the truency officer at my house over a cruise!

  4. :D

My wife and I have only done fourteen cruises, but (while I can't speak for her, or anybody else) I STILL feel that 'feeling' as I see that BIG white beautiful decked MOUNTAIN, hear that first 'ding' of my sign and sail card on the security kiosk as I step aboard, and hear that wonderful blast of the underway horn as I feel the ship moving away and watching the bright blue ocean begin to rush past. IF, these thing EVER stop giving me 'goosebumps', then I'll know, for sure, it's time to quit. I hope it'll never happen for me until my final sailaway. So, don't you ever feel like you've got to rush being jaded by one of the wonders of being able to cruise. ENJOY !!

You had me at 'ding' of the sail away card! Embark is the best lol!

  5. When my family sailed the 4d Victory a couple years ago,FTTF definitely came in handy. It was nice having a priority line for boarding that was significantly shorter( the other line was wrapped around the building), and it was also nice to have my room ready when I boarded and a priority line at guest services. I would say purchase away!!

  6. Sailed on Triumph this past May and have sailed Fantasy class in past. Though I enjoyed my cruise on Triumph, the crew just didn't exhibit the same attention to details as I have experienced with other ships. Even in comparison to her sister ship the Victory (same size and basic layout), Triumph's crew lacks that personal touch. For our cruise this year we are trading in our balcony and giving a ocean view on the Fantasy a try.

  7. We took our son on his first cruise at age 2, we were more nervous about camp than he was! He loved Camp Carnival. We then took him on his next cruise this year at age 4 and it was the total opposite. In our case I think the main difference ,besides age, was the staff. The Camp staff on Carnival Victory blew us out of the water and really took a personal interest in our child, so much so that he cried when we left the ship. The staff on the Carnival Triumph could care less and paid very little attention to the children. It felt like I was dropping off laundry instead of my child. Either way make sure to do the meet and greet on embarkation day to get a feel for the counselors! It really clues you in on what to expect!

  8. We will be docked at Puerta Maya and I was wondering how far it is from the port to the Mega by cab? Also we will be visiting Nachi Cocum so if anyone knows the distance from there as well it would be great!!

  9. A few years back,I made Nachi reservations from the ship the day before we were in port! They responded quickly and I had no problems reserving space for four people! Have fun on your trip whatever you decide.... Live long and prosper!

  10. We sailed on the Triumph last month. This was our second time on the Triumph in the last few months so we decided to do the "Behind the Fun Tour". We were so glad we did!!

We had FTTF so we boarded at 11:30 and went straight to the Excursions desk. She put our name on her clipboard list (we were the second family to sign up) and then she reminded us it was $90 per person. We agreed to the price (there were only 3 of us so not too bad) and she told us it would be the last sea day and that more information would come with the tickets over the next couple of days.

On the final sea day we were told to meet in the library at 9:30 a.m. for a light breakfast and quick orientation. The greeter (HR Director, Amit) took our tickets and checked our shoes (must have closed toed shoes) and gave us our lanyard with our Behind the Fun pass. We had already eaten so we grabbed some juice and sat down in the library to wait on additional passengers. When everyone was there (16 I believe were in our group) we were wanded by security to make sure we didn't have cameras or phones - yes there were two who didn't read all of the guidelines and had to run their phones back to their cabins. Then we headed off for our fun. We literally went ALL over this ship in corridors and hallways - to the very front of the ship where the Triumph Bell is located (we were allowed to gather for a group photo - taken by the ship's photographer). We went to the crew cafeteria (we paused here for cookies!) and bar areas, we saw pictures of a sample crew quarters, we saw the laundry (extremely fascinating - there is a GIANT sheet pressing machine in there so the passengers never have to sleep on wrinkled sheets!!!), engine room - very technical - we were kept behind a rope area and did not get close to any controls. The kitchen/galley was AMAZING!! How they prepare all of that food every single day - it is just fascninating. The head chef patiently answered all of our questions, his assistant showed us some cullinary delights (how to make flowers from veggies) and then we were treated to chocolate covered strawberries!! We were shown the refrigerated areas and freezers (so much beef!) as well as the room where they store all of the beer and liquor! WOW!

The highlight of the tour is of course the bridge and meeting the captain. He greeted us at the door, shook everyone's hand and welcomed us. We were all very respectful of the space (it is HUGE) but were allowed to get close to the controls. The view is spectacular. We were there about 25 minutes (he answered every single question!!!) and then we all go to take family pictures with the captain. We were really impressed with the amount of time he gave to us. This was our favorite part of the tour.

Then we were led back through to one of the dining rooms where we enjoyed cookies and apple juice and were given our bag of goodies (cute backpack, hat and lanyard - all with the Behind the Fun logo on them) and a soap sculpture. We were given a survey and rated our awesome guide - Amit.

The tour lasted about 4 hours. 100% worth the money!

We arrived back to our rooms to two plates of giant chocolate covered strawberries - delicious!!

That night (about 9:00 p.m.) three giant envelopes arrived with three 8X10's in each one (you get a set for every person in your group that went on the tour) - the pictures were 1) front of the ship group 2) group with captain 3)family with captain.

I highly recommend the excursion - super fun way to spend your last sea day morning!

OP, were you on a 6+ cruise, or a 3/4/5 day? Just trying to see if the tour will be the same for my shorter May 5 cruise! Thanks!
