  1. Walking off The Sky now!!! :-(

    Hate to leave!

    Had a great time!

    Good fun!

    Good food!!

    Great entertainment!

    FABULOUS TIME!

    Will post Freestyle Dailies tomorrow!

    ForSharonB,

Glad to hear you had a great time! Thanks so much for thinking of the upcoming cruisers and saving/posting the "dailies"! Looking forward to reading all about your trip!:D

Thanks again! I hate to rub it in but I'm only a little over a week away! YAY! And I am meeting a classmate that I have not seen in over 30 years because she returns as we are leaving! Can you tell that I am so EXCITED???!!!:D:D:D

  2. This is just for the Sky 3 and 4 day cruise that cannot be purchased precruise-that is the price day of cruise $65 + 15% tax per day (probably gratuity) is what the PCC told me today.

Just tried to pre-purchase for Sky and the warning that came up was that it is only for 5 or more cruise days! That kind of stinks for us as we have 7 people traveling.

The difference $1196.05 for prepay if allowed plus tax if Miami, FL tax is charged,

or 1221.60 to pay when we board the Sky at a tax free charge

or 1345.50 for the $65.00 plus tax and gratuity per person per day.

I am going to call and see if I can talk into a deal. If I can't, my BIL has a way of talking anyone into anything!:D

    Decisions! Decisions!

    Thanks for all the input!

  3. Hi-

Thanks! I had seen this one, but was trying to find something more current. I sail this Friday :-)! I will post them when I return. I imagine things have changed. One major difference is that Nassau is the first port for us; whereas on this Jan sailing, Great Stirrup Cay was first.

    Your family cruise sounds fun!!

My 4 adult siblings and I did a cruise with our spouses and our parents and it was big fun, but this weekend, it's my sister and I. We're excited!

I know! I have been scouring the boards and Google-ing since we booked to see if there were any more current dailies listed anywhere. Another thing my son pointed out is that this set of dailies was so close to Super Bowl that the "Tailgate" is probably not on the list of things to do! However, it is football season again! LOL!

I would be so appreciative if you get a chance to somehow post your set of dailies when you return. We are going to have to plan as best we can with what we have and then tweak after your cruise if you do get a chance to post. We are leaving out on the 19th of this month!

I'm so excited, too! :D It's been 23 years since our last cruise and I'm hoping that this one goes so well that we will make cruising a common vacation plan!

Hope you and your sis have a wonderful trip! :)

  4. No tips per say. Just go onboard and read your daily schedules to pick your fun for the day, explore, explore, explore the ship, and enjoy the time. Don't sweat the small stuff. Walk and sit to people watch. Relax and do things that will make your cruise the way you want it.

The ship is clean and the staff is very congenial.

I think those ^^^ are very good tips! :)

Do you know if the dailies have changed from this much?

    Thanks!:)

  5. Anyone have FREESTYLE DAILIES from The Sky. I'm looking for recent dailies from the 3-DAY cruise.

    Thanks much!!

This is what I have found and I am hoping that it has not changed much since January, because we go in a couple of weeks and I am trying to get a jump on how we plan to do the cruise since there will be 2 parents, 1 uncle, 3 grown children and a teenager. In fact I am waiting for my DH to wake up because we are planning which day to get together with the kids to decide how much time we want to spend together and if there are excursions that we want to try.

    Hope this helps! :)

  6. I was on her a few months ago.

Here is my quick review posted on CC after I came back:

"Tried this line and this ship for a new experience. Turned out to be a good move.

First off, Port of Miami and the workers there were great. Great customer service and easy process dropping off luggage with a porter then parking. Staff at the terminal were very nice and smiling.

We had a suite and the check in area after checking in at the counter was just fine with something offered to drink and some snacks until you were escorted onto the ship.

Ship was clean and shines just fine.

Crew workers we came in contact with were all smiles and as helpful as possible.

There were plenty of choices for things to do, both on the ship, and for excursions for my liking.

Their concierge Karin was outstanding. Nothing was too hard or impossible to achieve when asked of her.

Overall, we had a good time and would cruise on the Sky again."

To answer a few of your questions:

The spa has no special features, just the usual rooms for their basic spa offers.

We have no kids, so I do not know anything about the teen club.

As with every cruise line and every ship I have been on, it is tough on any sea day to get a seat by the pool. NCL is not any worse then RCCL, Disney, or CCL.

We did the 3 day as a trial to find out if our next April cruise was going to be a disappointment. I can say, NO!!! We enjoyed the ship and all it had to offer, and was not disappointed that we went on her....

So glad to read this! We are taking a mini vacay with the college aged kids. They actually did this cruise a few years ago and I understand that there have been some updates to the Sky since they went. We are in the port area so we are not spending a lot of $ to get to the Sky, but hearing your view is making me feel a lot more secure in our decision.

Any tips you have are very appreciated because it has been 23 years since my last cruise.

    Thanks!

  7. I did get a call back from NCL today and was happy to hear they have hired new people to answer phones and wait times should be better very soon. Also glad that the person they had call me was pleasant and personable. I hate the fact that I used the hated hate word. I am deservedly eating crow. I hope I have a wonderful review to post for other handicapped travelers when we return.

Just curious. Did you contact the rep who posted here?

Hi- We're sorry to hear that you've had a frustrating experience thus far and would like to assist you. Please email us at publicrelations@ncl.com. Thank you!

If so, can you tell that experience?

Hope your cruise is spectacular! And I think that you are a very good example of stepping back and looking at the big picture and re-evaluating your feelings/statements. Wonder if some of those harsh critics are willing to do the same after you came back to say all was better!

I look forward to hearing about what you enjoyed and what you think NCL can do better after your cruise.

    Best of Luck! :)

  8. There was a spreadsheet posted on another thread. It has instructions on how to use it and it will determine if the UBP will be worth it for you. The page labeled SPREADSHEET is where you enter number of cruisers and number of drinks, etc. I thought it was to a link, but it was to download. I would not normally download something for fear of a corrupted file, but like I said, I thought it was just a link. Has not infected my pc. Hope you enjoy your cruise! :)

  9. Gambee,

Thanks for reviewing the Sky so thoroughly. Our family is going on the Sky soon and this was helpful in knowing what to expect. My last cruise was 24 years ago!

Also, I wanted to say that your blog posts are very helpful, too! Especially the Freestyle Dailies and the Norwegian Drinks List! :)

  10. You know it's been about 9 months since the cruise and I was trying to remember what the separation material was between the balconies. I went online just now and pulled up some videos and I didn't see glass but what appeared to be metal or steel walls between each balcony. It didn't look like they could be removed.

    Siora7777,

Thanks! We will just deal with whatever we get! Not even sure that we will use the balcony as much as originally thought after reading reviews!

    Thanks again!

  11. I really like the Sky... I've cruised on the Sky 4 or 5 times over the years... I took a group on the Sky in Jan 2014 (almost 300 people) and taking the same group on Sky in Jan 2015... I also got a free cruise on the Sky for booking on the Getaway for this September... I'm really looking forward to it... I would never hesitate to go on the Sky...

    LegalCat,

You seem very experienced! Any tips that you have would be greatly appreciated. We have 6 adults and 1 teen in a Balcony suite and the next balcony room on the 9th deck on the Sky.

It has been over 20 years since my DH and I cruised. Older kids...a couple of years and the teen is going for the first time.

    Thanks!

  12. Siora7777,

Thanks for the information about the balcony. We have booked a couple of rooms with balconies. The reservationist, not with NCL, told us to ask if we could remove the plexiglass that separates the balconies to make one large balcony if it was applicable. Do you know if this is the case?

    Thanks!

  13. My husband and I did the 4 day Sky cruise June 30. We thoroughly enjoyed the ship - I love the Hawaiian decor and the set up of the smaller ship. I am watching the beautiful scenery of the water around me, so if there were issues with the ship, I didn't focus on it (even when the heavy rain turned some parts of the ship into waterfalls!). We did not got to any shows or night clubs, but we thought the pool bar area and crew were very attentive and our room steward was excellent.

    What exactly are your concerns?

So glad to hear of your great experience. We have 6 adult family members and a teen going soon for a 3 day. Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated.

My DH, my BIL, our grown kids and I have cruised (DH and I over 20 years ago), but our teen has not. So basically, I am a beginner, too!

    Thanks!

  14. gardiner41/Angela,

I very much enjoyed all the details of your review.

I have at least one question and more may come up as it gets closer to our trip on the Sky.

We did book a balcony suite and the next door cabin that also has a balcony on the 9th deck. I read someone else's comment about being afraid of heights and my fear is falling overboard. Are there any safety guards or whatever so that I am not guarding the balcony doors because I am so scared of my grown children getting near the rail? Also, the reservationist (we booked through USAA) said to check and see if there was a plexiglass that we could remove between the balconies to make one enlarged balcony. Do you know if it is set up that way?

    Thanks so much!
