  1. Techno123 brings up a good point -- one that Regent should take note of. Included excursions do tend to bring new passengers ..... but they do not necessarily want to continue having them after trying them a few times. And, as indicated earlier in in this thread (and previous threads), some passengers leave Regent because they do not want to pay for something that they do not want. Still hoping for an opt out option!

and THATS why we left Regent for Oceania and Crystal

  2. A few years ago, while doing the Amazon, we became friendly with a couple who had a cabin down the hall from us. We had butler service; they did not

At my doing, one evening our butler knocked on their door, announcing himself. Of course they replied that there was a mistake, cuz they did NOT have a butler. He replied that during each cruise, the ship selects one cabin to have a butler for the evening, and this time it was their turn. He then entered and set up a couple of snacks and poured into a margarita glass complete with salted rims, and WATER! One sip and they called our room quite indignant that I should set them up like that. Of course my wife denied any responsibility...saying twas the ship's fault, and besides, how could I be the one, as I was fast asleep doing my daily nap

To this day, every time we get together, they recall this trick. BTW, they live a few miles away from us.

The water trick is one I use a lot and always gets a great reaction.

  3. you folks are lucky, getting up at that time

When we cruised from LA to Ft Laud, we started the canal transit at 2AM, and yes, there was a huge crowd in the lounge listening to the Regent guide brought aboard for half the transit, when the shore guide took over. The Regent guide grew up at the canal, where his father helped to build it

A cruise imbedded in my memory forever

  4. The 1st nite on a Mariner cruise, they served pistachio ice cream. It was the best ever. The 2nd nite I ordered it; they said they had none. I then asked that it be made. I guess they made a gallon of it, cuz every lunch and dinner, twas available. Try it. Youll love it

  5. Vireya, I would have been more than upset. Did you have to pay for your own transfer from airport to hotel? If so, I hope you had Regent reimburse you for it. Did you and the other 23 pax raise any sort of complaint once aboard the Mariner?

You can be sure, we raised holy hell

All we got from Regent was an apology and a bottle of champagne (which we both hate and dont drink) and the comment that they cannot control the locals

We stayed overnite at the hotel. Regent did not pay for the transfer. The real screwup was the next AM when the local tour folks took 25 of us to a glass factory on the way to the boat, which we then passed by. The boat was across from the hotel. The factory was 30 min away. This was in venice, BTW

  6. Interesting you say that re ground transport in Venice...

Regent failed to deliver us to the hotel from the airport..

BUT the ultimate was when we went from the hotel directly past the Mariner, within a few yards, over to an unmanned dock area, where there was a policeman and no one else. He was kind enough to call a couple of water taxis for the 23 of us stranded there, because the original taxi just dumped us there with no explanation

To say we were upset was an understatement.

This was 2012. But it looks like the Venice ground transfers still leave a lot to be desired
