  1. Has anyone used StingRay city United?Their tour sounds incredible.

I have used Stingray City United before and it was a wonderful experience. What I love most about the tour is that it is centralized around Stingray City. You do get to see some beautiful birds too and they also have the Ocean Soul exhibit that you will be able to view. They arrange transportation for you and even though dolphins is not a part of the tour, the boat leaves from a dock next to a dolphin park so you get to see them and some iguanas don't hurt either :). Go for it, you will have a great time.

  2. The buses will accept up to a reasonable US$20 or CI$20 even if you are paying for one person. Of course they won't turn you down if you have a 50 but it is a little undesirable as that will use up most if not all the change that they have.

  3. We had our tour with Stingray City United and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Our tour also had the Nat Geo Ocean Soul exhibit and a walk through a nature trail where we got to interact with some beautiful birds. I would recommend this tour to anyone. The boat leaves from a dolphin park so you also get to see dolphins as a bonus

  4. Do we need water shoes for stingray city

We are doing a jet ski tour to stingray and back

    Thanks

No shoes allowed on the Stingray City tours. They do not want for you to accidentally step on a Stingray so instead you do the Stingray shuffle which just involves sliding your food in the sand rather than lifting up and stepping down. We were provided with these instructions on our tour with Stingray City United. Go ahead and enjoy your tour, it's an adventure I will never forget

  5. That sounds great :) the one I took was for $36.00 but it was booked through Stingray City United and when you get off the bus you walk through their beautiful nature trail and you see parrots and love birds. You can also see the wild iguanas running around the compound and wild tarpons that are really huge. They also give you a viewing of the National Geographic Underwater exhibit before heading out to Stingray City. It was well worth the money, I named one of the Iguanas Harry :). The dock is next to Dolphin Cove so if you are lucky and a program is going on you can see the Dolphins do tricks as you head to your boat.

  6. The Stingrays are very friendly and not aggressive at all. They will gently swim between your legs and come up to you if you have a piece of squid to feed them with. Their "sting" is a last minute defense mechanism that is used under extreme stress or pain. They will most likely swim away from you before resorting to that.

Our tour was with Stingray City United and the crew members gave us safety instructions such as the stingray shuffle and not to panic and jump around. Do not be afraid and miss out on this wonderful experience, we enjoyed this great adventure.

  7. Did anyone take 'just' a sting ray tour, we're not interested in stopping at snorkel sites as my wife isn't a good swimmer! (not interested in sitting in the boat while other snorkel either:))

I am not a good swimmer myself so the snorkel + Stingray City tour was not for me at all but luckily I found a tour that does not have snorkeling, instead it has a tour of the Nation Geographic Under-water Photo Exhibit by Brian Skerry (Nat Geo Photographer) and then it was off to the Stingray City Excursion which was so great as the Stingrays are very friendly. I booked the tour from Stingray City United. I hope that this helps you guys who are not big swimmers like myself :).

  8. There is no beach walking distance from the port. You can jus hop on a bus and head to the 7mile beach. If you need a beach Club Royal Palms is the place. :)

Its just $2USD to get in and this include beach chairs. The also have a Pool.

SWIM, SNORKEL AND HAVE A FEW DRINKS:D tHE FOOD IS GREAT THERE TOO

  9. Public transportation is very accessible in Grand Cayman. Just ask which bus is going to West Bay. The drivers are pretty friendly and they would be happy to help you find your stop. No worries. Pretty cheap too just $2 each way. The Royal Plams is less than 10 minutes away from the port.

  10. We went to cayman on a cruise celebrating our 10th anniversary. we did the Dolphins and Stingray City Excursion.

This was a GREAT experience. The staff were very engaging and funny. They made you feel very at ease with getting in the water with the dolphins. They have different packages that include different experiences with the Dolphins.

My Husband and I did the Dolphin Encounter because we cannot swim, the water is waist deep so you should be fine :):) We got a good amount of time to interact with the dolphin.

Stingray City was fun too. When we got back The staff at Dolphin Cove were all very nice. They a spent a lot of time with us showing us the parrots and iguanas. While we were waiting on our bus they asked us if we wanted to see the New National Geograpic Underwater phot Exibit. It was really cool loved it.

  11. If you are visiting Grand Cayman, Stingray City is an absolute must do. Not much place probably in the world where you can be in sand bar and smothered with soft gentle friendly stingrays. Kids will love the place. No need to worry these are not the kind of stingrays which are dangerous. They totally love visitors. Especially when you brought squids with you. :):):):)
