  1. We were last on Explorer in 2007 and they had a large glass case in the 19th hole which consisted of balls landing on wood to make a musical instrument, did that stay there and does anyone know if it survived the refit? Thanks :-)

Yep it's still there. Just outside the adventure ocean area.

  2. Sorry to mix up questions on forums but....I have been reading some very negative reviews following the refit on Explorer and whilst I usually take with a giant pinch of salt would be interested to hear your views on the comments. Specifically on seating in the bars / public areas? Still looking forward to it (29 June sailing) but a little concerned nevertheless...

Most of the negative reviews including mine were due to the ship being rushed back into service. I'd hope that these teething problems had been sorted by now so I wouldn't worry. The seating did seem an issue for many but could have been down to the fact that people changed their dining due to the delays etc and went to the bars? I also think that due to the wind and weather on the 24th April sailing that not many people were outside after 19:00 meaning inside took the weight of more footfall.

Maybe those who have been on Explorer this time around may have a different take on things.

  3. Our little boy 4 doesn't drink fizzy drinks and he coped with the apple/mango/pineapple/water that is free from the windjammer. We just filled up his water bottle in the room, we also purchased some cartons from a supermarket.

  4. We have just returned and despite issues we had a great time.

The refit felt rushed and constantly staff/engineers were doing things that probably should have been done in dry dock like painting, cutting and replacing the floors. Our room was deck 6 right at the front, very disappointed with the room as engineering work started most days from 6 waking us and into the night keeping us up.

We found main dining slow and often cold, the windjammer food was always warm and good when with little ones. We ate at Johnny Rockets and Chops and had excellent meals.

The majority of staff were great except a few (in my opinion) from guest services who had maybe had enough and were short and rude.

The tills on the boat must be confusing for staff as I was forever over charged or duplicated including some medicine from the medical centre being charged 13 times??

My little boy got covered in black soot on the first day with his hands lower on the rails than grow ups but after a few days the boat got cleaner.
