  1. what is this like?

I was wrong. It's Crawfish 2 ways ( the crawfish duo plate). It's a platter that come with fried crawfish tails and crawfish etouffee and both were delicious. I was remembering wrong because I got that and my sister got the Crab Duo plate and we kind of shared. That one has crab dressing balls (like a crabcake hushpuppy) and crab au gratin, which was probably one of the best things I've ever tasted in my life. We went on a Tuesday and there was about a 15 minute wait or so but it was very much worth it.

  2. I've boarded my dog a few times when we've been gone for 3 or 4 days. She absolutely loves it. She gets to play with other dogs and during the summer, they set up a kiddie pool for them to splash in. But since my cruise is a week, we're taking her to my sister's place. My sister's dog is about my dog's size and comes to visit us (for no real reason, we just bring him home for a week to play with our dog) so when she goes there, it's like seeing her cousin dog. I don't feel really guilty because I know she's having a lot of fun and well taken care of. There is an animal group on fb for my city and 'm always seeing people on there who are looking for a boarder or offer to keep someone's dog while they're out of town as well.

It's also scenic when leaving port. Sailing down the Mississippi is a lot more scenic to me, than just pulling out of the port in Miami or Galveston. You won't actually get out into the gulf until after dark.

This is something I'm looking forward to. I've been on one of those dinner cruises on the MS and it's really pretty to look at out. In some spots anyway, lol.

  4. Thanks everyone. Yes, we'll be leaving from Florida for the 12/21 cruise. Unfortunately, we're not able to leave until early that morning. Our trip takes us about 3 - 3 1/2 hours so we're leaving early that Sunday. I'd love to go the day before but have to drive to north Alabama to drop daughter off for Christmas with her father. It sucks because I love NO (have family there and get to visit about once a year). We're planning to arrive at the terminal around 10- 10:30. Is this a good time or too early, late? We were told to be there about 12 (sail at 4, I think) but I've seen a lot of people say they get there quite a bit early but then I'm not sure what time they were told to be there/leaving.

One thing i can specifically think of is a luggage question. I have heard that carrying drinks in at Port NO, I have to carry thrm on myself, that they can't be checked at that particular port. Is this true? I have no problem doing so because I have to have my Coke but it will make a difference in how I pack.

Thanks again. I'm extremely excited for our first cruise so I'm sure I'll come up with more questions.

  5. About to go on Bahamas NCL cruise in October. Can anyone tell me the going rate on the Norwegian Pearl for a soda?

No way I consume more than 2 soda a day, so thinking to just buy ala carte. Also, do they have water and lemonade free? Easy to find? 24 hrs.

Lastly, if you do buy a soda package, does that mean you have to walk around with the "free" tumbler they give you?

Also, be aware that NCL now has Pepsi products, not Coke products. I know some people don't mind but it makes a big difference for me so I'm bringing my own Coke.

  6. Hello everyone. My husband and I will be taking our first cruise this December. I've been reading everything here for the last several days and all of your information is very helpful and appreciated! I have found some info on the Dawn and PoNO but not a lot. If there is anything you can tell me about the ship itself, the port, checking in, favorite spots to sit, eat, activities, etc, I would be eternally grateful. And I thank you in advance for sharing your experiences with these things, bad or good.
