  1. Just called NCL CAS and was told CAS guests are not able to participate in this bid program. Seems odd. Any other CAS guests get an invite or able to bid?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

I booked through CAS and still received the offer. I bid the minimum $300/pp on a Haven upgrade. Doubt I will get it but figured it was worth a try.

  2. Just wondering if anyone has tried this? We have a B6 (large balcony) booked through CAS on the Getaway in December. We received an email for the Upgrade Advantage program. This takes you to a page where you can make offers for an upgrade to a Haven Suite starting at $300/pp. Although when you go to the page it says that a $300/pp offer has a "poor" chance of getting accepted.

I don't want to give up my large balcony so I would want a Haven room with at least the same size balcony. I was considering making a low end offer for an H6. Just curious if anyone else has tried this process online?

  3. I was on the Escape last week. It seemed like they were making an effort to make the Skyline Bar near the casino into more of a night club venue. Several nights the cruise ship staff was there trying to get things started, dancing/ect but it didn't seem to stick after they left. The only night it was really busy was after the glow party, a lot of people came down after and stayed until the early morning hours. I think NCL needs to promote it more as a night club venue, it seemed to work after the glow party but I don't think enough people knew it was there before that.

  4. We were on the Escape last week. We had the 3 meal SDP and did not make any reservations beforehand. We were able to get in to Cagney's twice and Teppanyaki without reservations and a very minimal wait. At Cagney's they seated us at a table near the bar, kind of away from the main dining area but the food was excellent and the service was great. I was really worried that we wouldn't be able to use our SDP because we did not make reservations but ultimately it was not an issue. We did try to walk into Moderno but were told there was nothing available until after 9PM (it was around 6PM) so we went across to Cagney's and were seated within 5 mins.

  5. We were on the Getaway last year and last week the Escape so I can't really compare to a smaller ship but we loved both. I enjoyed the Getaway slightly more but my husband preferred the Escape. I'm not sure how many passengers were aboard last week but the ship rarely felt crowded. We had UBP and had no problems getting drinks at the bars, mojito bar was a bit slow because the drinks are more complex but still never waited more than a few minutes. We did not make reservations at the speciality resturaunts but were able to walk up to Teppanyaki (at 8PM) and Cagney's twice (6PM and 8PM) and still get seated within 5-10 mins. At Cagney's we were seated across from the bar, which some people may not like, but we didn't have a reservation and still had a delicious meal. We got to the ship a little early on one port day and did the water slides with no lines at all. Then the ropes course on Friday with maybe a 5 minute wait. There were a few times when the buffet felt a little crowded but other than that I have no complaints. We spent most of our sun time at Spice and only one at sea day had look around for a few minutes to find a lounger.

We enjoyed the Escape and I'm sure you will too!

  6. Yes.....Next time let them take some charges off your bill, you get much more that way.

I was just on the Getaway on a free CAS cruise from a land based casino. It was my first trip. On the last day I asked the person at the players club if I had any comps available. They said no because I had been playing my earned comps. I asked how many points I had earned and what comps I might have earned if I hadn't used them in the machine, he said $35. When I checked my final bill I had a $200 on board credit?? Are the CAS comps different from the players club?

  7. I think the policy changed. While on the Getaway a few weeks ago there was a blurb in the Welcome Aboard sheet about balcony dividers.

    It states:

Balcony Dividers between Cabins: Fire proof balcony dividers were installed to prevent fires from spreading. These balcony dividers cannot be opened even if staterooms are connected. These dividers are only opened for maintenance purposes.

We just got off the Getaway and the people above us opened their balconies every night. I think they had a tool and closed them up at the end of then night so they didn't get "caught".

  8. Thanks! I'm in DC/MD/VA area so I don't have to consider airfare but still parking/dog boarding/gas. Any chance the price will go down? Seems like there are still quite a few inside staterooms left?

We are cruising on the NCL Getaway from Nov 1-8 so I would like to book before I leave but maybe I will wait and see if there is anything left (inside state rooms and money) when we return. :):D

  9. I'm curious about people experience on these short 2 night "sampler" cruises. I really want to go on the Quantum 2 night in November but I'm having trouble convincing my husband that it is worth it. Would love to hear some opinions of folks who have tried it? Is it worth it? Any one already booked?

  10. We're on the same sailing (howdy!) and just upgraded into 9730 from a regular balcony for no charge due to a price drop.

We're excited to have the extra room, and we will definitely be requesting loungers. DH likes to nap in the room, so now I can take my naps out in the fresh air.

We are booked in 9730 on the November 1st sailing! Let me know how you like it!
